What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Amazing picture.

I found this while looking for something else

Like an ice cream van but far less fun.
When our ship was in dry-dock in Japan, we would often hear strains of the New World Symphony first thing in the morning which was played for workers to exercise to at the start of their working day. It was quite impressive seeing all those workers, lining the docksides, all exercising in unison.

Interesting video. I think I prefer Monk's Gate though - a much more catchy tune. That's why it's stuck in my head.

Well, here we are. I actually made it to the big 8 0! There have been times recently when I thought I probably wouldn't. Not that it matters much - just another day. I have a birthday card from my 82 year old brother (he wasn't expected to make it beyond his first few months). Neil doesn't do birthday cards but we'll see what the day brings. I've made a cake for serving to anyone who might call and I think I'll take a slice of it for the nurse who will be bandaging my legs today.

9.5 at 05.00 today. I think that is because of all the sugar I was handling yesterday. I seem to absorb it through my skin.
Congratulations to you @Annb on reaching such a significant milestone. What a wonderful thought to take a slice of cake for the nurse, so like the impression (this) one forms of you from your posts. Enjoy your special day. May God bless you and grant you many more.

Thank you Ian. The nurse was very pleased with her piece of cake. I hope she enjoyed it with her lunch.

I only saw Alistair briefly today - just as he came in with some flowers from my brother, my cousin phoned, so he went away.

Neil came up with a brilliant birthday present for me - a 19th century strong box. When I eventually find the lost papers and jewels, I will have somewhere to keep them which is difficult to misplace.

8.3 this morning. And the people just keep.on coming here. It is like Grand central station in this household. From early morning till late at night, popping in and then popping out again.
Mrs L no longer looks like a hippy, not looking trail and gaunt. Her appetite is brilliant and her choice of plants to make sure I do the garden, sure does work. It is blooming, gone mad, lots of roses and have just harvested the Orange lillies, ready for next spring. Grass is brilliant. I am overjoyed with the progress and the growth of all my plants front and back garden is really beautiful.
I feel a little less worse for wear, better sleep.
In relax more as much as possible. But neighbours are making it difficult, Sun and warmth brings the DiY and overheated conversations (arguments) And next door but one is once again (about the fiftieth time) told you a million times I don't exaggerate. But the gardens are dreadful. Don't get it!
The people who lived there beforehand kept it lovely.
I hope another early night.
Best wishes to you lot as always.

Happy Birthday @Annb
Hope you had a good day...

Fbg 6.8 for Thursday morning ...

I found a paper photograph of a painting I had done long ago... about 35 to 40 years ago.... it is a watercolour.....

I don't have it anymore, but I hung it in the hallway of my last house. Each year, when it was my friend D's birthday, she would look at the paintings I had up in my hallway and say that's one's my birthday present this year.... her flat is full of my paintings...

I am now remembering some others I did, all in the 1990s, and now in my friend D's flat!!!

It is now gone the time of midnight, I fell asleep earlier... and so I am posting this a day late... only by a few minutes...

Now to go back to sleep again....

Night night

Sweet dreams

So good to get a more positive update. Seems Mrs L has accepted help from the carers and that imust be a load off your mind and therefore good for you too.
Your garden sounds lovely. Shame about the neighbours noise impinging on your quiet, perhaps some music in your garden would reduce their impact?
Have a calm and peaceful day.

Today is Friday. Market day. Also Feast of the Assumption. Important day in France, think it is a public holiday.
AND
My youngest, surprise arrival, granddaughters birthday. Two today.
Happy birthday to grandchild 4. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
MrSlim is hoping to finish the kitchen today. To get it functioning at least. There will still be some finishing off needed. But that is par for the course with all this racing to be fit for visitors.
Got to go, cake to bake.

Thank you @SlimLizzy. Yes Neil did well to find the strongbox. He doesn't really do all the birthday stuff but he always comes up with very thoughtful gifts.

What with roses from my brother, clothes from Alistair's family and a phone call from my recently found, long lost cousin, it was a lovely day.

Happy birthday to your granddaughter and best wishes to her parents.
Thank you @Annb
Was on the beach with her two older sisters when we got the news. Baby was planned ceasarian birth, but needed emergency extraction two days before. Girls were supposed to be home before she arrived.
