What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon everyone on what has been quite a smashing, sunny day although getting a bit chilly now as the twilight zone approaches.
New towels foraged today to replace the, as far as I can see, quite serviceable ones in the upstairs bathroom. The relegated ones will be cut up to add to the pile of cut up things under the sink. They are very useful for all manner of things including being part of the accumulation of cut up things sitting under the sink. I may just snaffle one as a paint rag.
No art bit but a photo showing two trains at Darlington station early on Sunday morning, one a bit older than the other.

Hope you survived the weekend without mishap. Good to read that Mr K will soon, all being well, be back oiling the wheels of Mr and Mrs K and company.

What a day and it's not over yet.
7.4 this a.m.
Rang doctors, doctor rang back, doctor arrived at lunch.
Mrs L has a chest infection. Her cough got worse overnight, Doctor was happy not to send her to hospital, with a warning if it got worse.
Anti biotics arrived at 5pm. The carer doled out the tablets just after.
After doctor to the shops before I had to settle Mrs L for a nap.
Then I had my assessment on the phone for counselling.
The assessor told me to expect another phone call in about two to three weeks.
Might be back, to finish.
Another busy day tomorrow! I should say busier than usual.
Glad you got your appointment @Krystyna23040
Best wishes.

The next page in my sketchbook.... it is a pastel painting...

Misty this morning...
Then sunny morning...
Then colder late afternoon...

Now I want to brush my teeth before bed, the taps are dry...no water...
I go outside and the pavements are being dug up tonight by the water board...
I ask and for some reason the house at the bottom of the road was the cause of them coming out to sort the water... it was dark and I could not lip read the guy properly...., but I did follow him say when the water comes back on run the taps for awhile...

I will go and make myself a flask of tea for the night and see if I can go to sleep. I always keep the kettle full of of water!!!

I have no idea where Midnight is but he is asleep in my. half sorted, half tidied bedroom, and I cannot find him anywhere....

Goodnight....

This site's uploader still doesn't like me... it is telling me a strange message saying "no payment method", so does that mean we have to pay to upload photos , I certainly don't think so...

And so here is a link to my painting...

It must have been amazing for the passengers in the modern train to look out of the window at that beautiful piece of engineering.

Some stressful days for MrSlim recently.
A delivery driver arrived early one morning asking for GDS Creatives. He had the correct address, showed me the delivery note with the name and our address, but I had never heard of this company, so he left. Later on MrSlim gets message we have refused delivery of the insulation for the loft, so we are going to be charged €150 for the return to depot.
GDS Creatives is the sending company.
Now we have to pay another €150 for a second delivery - this is on top of the original €150 delivery charge. €450 now in delivery charges. Have tried to explain their mistake, but they are not prepared to admit it and insist the extra delivery charges are paid. MrSlim is very angry about this, but although our French is improving its not good enough to argue the case - esp as we have no proof. The company is based near Paris, a four hour drive from here. The excess charges will not entirely wipe out the saving on cost, which were significant, but it's definitely not such a bargain now.
Then a couple of days later another botched order. Several missing packs and one extra unwanted item, meaning that it's impossible to start construction of the veranda out the back. Several days later after exchange of messages, more packages arrive, but on checking still some bits missing, more messages, they won't use the phone and construction is delayed again.
While waiting for these essential supplies MrSlim has been working on the cellar ceiling insulation, an unpleasant, tedious and fiddly job, with many pipes to work round, fitting Rockwool and then cladding, but now the lights down there have failed - unfortunately the fault appears to be under the section he has finished and he will need to take quite a lot down.

He is not a happy bunny at the moment.

Tons of hugs for Mr Slim @SlimLizzy

I don't have the problem of your kind of costs involved in change of name shenanigans like this from the firms involved... But I have changes of names from who I ordered them from... And I have a few things I refused because the name bore no relation to the item ordered... But on later investigation it was the item I ordered... For example, it was something from a uk bedding firm that I ordered... But the item was billed from and came from and was delivered from maritime services which was a shipping firm. That is a firm that dealt with things actually for ships... Even when I googled it made no sense...

7mmols this a.m.
Early start for window but who eventually arrived at 9.30. Sorted what he could.
Ask the guys who come to check gutters next week to check if they can see anything amiss.
Woman from housing has sent a letter to next door about their overgrown trees. Blocking g the light entirely from around next week into my back garden.
An appointment for a hearing test on Saturday.
Mrs L is barking and now. Sorry a bit of a joke. Her cough is a hacking sound and the infection is causing issues with her mood swings as Mrs L gets more confused.
Of course it's my fault, all of it!
Hairdresser is here for Mrs L. I don't need one......!
Weather is pleasingly warm.
Cool overnight.
Best wishes you lot.

Insulation arrived yesterday. On an enormous lorry that very nearly blocked the road causing significant backlogs while a convoy of agricultural vehicles crawled past with only inches to spare either side.
The rolls of insulation were stacked double height on a pallet. The petite female driver had to cut the plastic wrapping and drop the rolls down one by one, while MrSlim and I carried them to the pavement and stacked them outside the house. 24 rolls of insulation. MrSlim had promised to help a friend with some heavy gardening work, so once they were all inside he left me to it. Managed to get 19 rolls up the two flights of stairs, but ran out of room to stack them.
HH is here today, so he and MrSlim took the remaining five up and then all 24 up into the loft. Now we just need the roofer to come. He promised September, but we dont have a date yet.
Still waiting for the gasket material to be delivered, had a notification it should arrive tomorrow - BUT if it doesn't we can claim a refund. Of course we don't want a refund. We need the gasket material so that MrSlim can repair the boiler. Until we have that no heating at all. Getting distinctly chilly in the evenings now.
MrSlim and HH are upgrading the cellar wiring this morning. They are hoping it won't be neccessary to take the insulation and cladding down.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

I’m not certain about today, I’m fasting for a colonoscopy mixed up with a ct scan I’m due to have tomorrow. I have taken a laxative.

Just where I’ve taken the laxative is a secret.

Enjoy your day fellow posters.

Good morning all - is it now officially autumn/fall? No fbg to report just now - coming soon.
Mr K got a text to say his appointment with the Consultant will go ahead on Wednesday

@Krystyna23040 thoughts and prayers with Mr K and yourself today.

I’m fasting for a colonoscopy mixed up with a ct scan I’m due to have tomorrow.
@alf_Josiah I hope all goes well with both those "interesting" but necessary procedures.
Everyone else, make the most of whatever opportunities for happiness and blessed peace present themselves. I am off to have Covid and Flu jabs soon.

Good luck for tomorrow. It's not so much the colonoscopy as the preparation for it that is a pain.

Have fun! Haven't heard anything about flu jabs here yet.

5.2 this morning.

Mr K got a text to say his appointment with the Consultant will go ahead on Wednesday. Phew!! We had been on tenterhooks as the Consultant had to check Mr K's A&E records to make sure he was the right person carry out the op. If he wasn't the right person they would have had to make an appointment with a different consultant
It's Wednesday. Hope all goes well for Mr K today, and that he soon feels much better.

I hope he didn't mean September 2026. In fact I hope he did arrive unannounced yesterday to make it Sept 2025.:playful:

I did manage to lay down last night - first time in 13 days/nights. It lasted a whole hour before I couldn't stand it any more and had to get up. Did manage a couple more hours in the chair though.

BG 7.5 and rising. Had insulin and breakfast, so I hope it will drop a bit soon.
