What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

9.2 at 02.00 today. Went to bed at 23.45 last night. 11/4 hours - better than nothing. A couple more hours in the chair. Still at 9.5. Just had insulin and breakfast, so we'll see how it goes.

Leg day today - had to take the bandages off at lunchtime yesterday so that the podiatrist at the hospital could check pulses, nerves etc. It's very odd. She told me the results of a test in January, specifically the result of a test using a tool that vibrates against the end of the big toe. It had deteriorated since January, now making my risk of foot problems moderate. The odd thing is, I have absolutely no memory of seeing the podiatrist, or having an appointment in that department since the Covid lockdown and I am positive that I have never seen, or experienced, the tool that she used. Plus, I have been at moderate risk for years. It was my record that she was looking at, because the rest of the information on it was right. How could I have forgotten that?

I am sure you would remember @Annb

Files are, and can be transferred whether paper or digital... and can be taken out of context. People make interpretations on the limited short notes and make assumptions that the full test or whatever it was has been done when it hasn't....

5.5 this morning.

Mr K was at the NHS hospital today to have a cancer check. We were both so happy that he got the all clear. I will ring the Consultant's PA tomorrow to let her know that it is OK to book his op.

Mr K was asked by the team at the NHS hospital who was doing the op. When he told them, they said that he was a superb surgeon.

We both feel a whole lot better this evening.
Wonderful to read yesterday went so well and unsurprising you both felt better last evening after such a stressful time . Peace be with you both.

That might explain it. I'm beginning to doubt myself though. If I did go to that appointment, Neil would have taken me, but I asked him and he doesn't remember that either. I asked, but no result is back on the odd spotty thing on my face - that's 2 weeks, I think, and it should only take a few days. Alistair is still waiting to hear something about his MRI scan - that was about a month ago. Are all these departments short of staff, I wonder.

The GP that I saw on Monday said she would get the nurse to take bloods for a whole range of tests today, but the nurse had no such instructions so couldn't do it. Maybe she'll get the instruction by next week.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

Isn’t good afternoon a strange phrase, perhaps it should be “ I would like to wish you all a good afternoon “ Anyway happy national bin day.

In a few short moments I must get mobile. Mainly to appease Mrs J, not for the sake of marital harmony, just because she terrifies me. Time to go.

Thank you @ianpspurs. We had the most wonderful ride back home. Our friend picked us up from the Hospital in his1966 Vauxhall Victor. It was like being driven home in an armchair.. It was a wonderful ending to a really good day.

An amazing 5.9 mmols this morning.
Painting, cleaning, tidying front and back garden, was gonna use mower, but grass is wet from overnight. Nice pile of foliage in the gutter out front.....
Weather is cool and cloudy.

Gotta go.

You have just said that Neil could not remember taking you... so there is your answer for that.

I don't think messages are passed on properly... I have often had tochase up things like this.... and I am back-and-forth physically to do receptionist to say I need the forms for the blood test so where are they? And eventually the receptionist says come back in a couple of days and I say no, sort it out now. Couple of phone calls by the receptionist because I cannot do phone calls and then on the printer the forms come through and I have my forms to take to the vampire nurse....

7.25am FBG 6.3.
Have now got three, three kilo bags of steamed courgette pieces for Kiki in the freezer. Am hoping that will be enough to see her through until they are in season again. Have four more courgettes and actually considered making chutney - for all of about two minutes. Just long enough to look up the recipe and discover I don't have all the ingredients. Although I do have all the spices needed. Surprisingly not sufficient courgettes, although a visit to the garden might fix that.
My visit to the doctor resulted in a box of prescription shampoo with instructions to use it twice a week for the rest of my life.
We shall see if it is effective in eliminating the snowstorm dandruff.
Eek FBG now 6.9 DP is alive and well.

Good afternoon all.

I have just got home from a visit to the vascular clinic at the local hospital, most interesting. They took the dressings off my legs, which was a shame because the dressings were only put on this morning. A doppler test was carried out and then my legs were re dressed.
The results were I have to have more tests.

I need koffy and an afternoon nap.

Best wishes to you all.

6.8 on a very busy day.
Hearing test this afternoon, resulting in that I need a hearing aid.
I said an ear trumpet would do..... But this one I have chosen is apparently discreet and go for a fitting Tuesday. It is the high range I'm struggling with. I did confess to selective hearing but the (what is the name for someone who checks your hearing?) Audiologist? Said it is quite normal for someone my age....... Grrrr!
Anywho,
It is a dry day but pretty cool.
Best wishes.

Next page in my sketchbook....
And I have not a clue how I did this one....

It looks like it was done in acrylics, and it looks like I did some dry brushing on top of the painting, and then the trees in black and a lot of white with the trees... that is my best guess...

Cat Amy was doing the slow blink technique for food earlier...

The little Dunnock was foraging for food.

The robin was staring at me through the window.....

And a blackbird with white feathers on its head and wing was eating the cat food...

And I had an asthma appointment at the health Centre.... no it's not an asthma appointment said the nurse it's a diabetic appointment and I need to check your feet.... it's a good job. I washed my feet this morning....and the asthma/diabetic nurse was stroking my toes with this pointy tool... i'll take your bloods she said, it would save you having to come back for that....

I think she regretted offering to be helpful, because within minutes I was a pin cushion because she couldn't find a vein.... well she said she could find the vein, but it skedaddled away from her when she tried to stick the needle in... she kept saying I'm so sorry I'm so sorry, but she went over to the cupboard and came back with what I assume must've been a butterfly needle. I have never seen one before.. it took her three goes, but she got some blood out of me....

I came home and I fell asleep for the afternoon...

I am ready for sleep now, so good night....
Have some lovely dreams....

Kiki woke me a bit early, anything before seven is early - but she squeaked to be let out instead of the annoying scratching that had become a habit - so i am not complaining. Second morning she has done this, am hoping it lasts. She rules the house you know. Decides when I get up and when we go to bed. But yesterday when she sat by her cat door and demanded I open the door - I refused.
Yesterday did not go according to plan.
The cake took far to long to cook and the texture was wrong. My friend got diverted by a family drama, so she cancelled. Oh well, at least she didn't have to eat substandard cake. But I miss her. One of the major disadvantages of this house is the distance from a couple of friends.
MrSlim has almost finished in the cellar, except for the lights and some painting. I helped with some fiddly bits of the cladding, so my jobs list didn't get finished.
MrSlim has decided that the next room to renovate is the salon. (Living room or lounge to Brits.) So after a reshuffle of the furniture stored in there to the dining room. (Which now looks like a junk room - unusable - Will have to sort that out later.)
I walked to the garage to collect the car.
By the time I returned Mr Slim had been investigating or "uncovering the rot" as he put it in the salon.

So now it's not just a room badly in need of decorating it's a bombsite.
He is also planning to build the veranda? Leanto? Back porch? And to start on preparations for the VMC fitting now that we have finally a date for the roofer.
Fourth and, or, fifth of November. Oh and he is still working on the central heating system, the lights in the cellar and the kitchen island units.
Three major jobs at once, plus others. He may be a little overextended.
Still looking for some pretty storage jars. Why are they so expensive? By first sort out the dining room so as to be able to use the laptop.

The desk and laptop are in the far corner and currently inaccessible.

My house has been much like this for several years. Neil is like his Dad in that he is a great worker and a perfectionist (if a job doesn't quite meet his standards, it has to be taken apart and begun again) but, unlike his Dad, he takes on lots of jobs at a time and never finishes any of them. Years ago when my husband had to have carers in to help, we had to install a disabled shower, so had to take the bath out. I asked Neil to install a smaller bath in the shower room, next door - bought the expensive specially short but high bath and it got as far as installing new pipework and drain and building the frame to hold the fibreglass bath which sits, unfixed, to the frame now. There it stopped so I still don't have a bath and what was the shower room only has a bath with a "temporary" top on it to hold all the tins of paint, detergent, buckets and all sorts that have no other home to go to. My husband died in 2017. I bought that bath in about 2010, so it has sat there, useless and untidy for 15 or so years! The new bidet was never installed. I didn't even bother to buy the new wash basin I wanted, so the old tan coloured one is still there, kind of perched on the front of its support. That's Neil. I've just had to get used to the fact.

DIL came in early this morning with Em and her brother (13 and 19). They were on their way to a kind of comic character convention in Stornoway. The kids have both made their own costumes and made a good job of them and I think there is some kind of competition for the best costume. Keeps them occupied for months, so it can't be bad. DIL is going to the convention where she has a stall to sell her (quite popular) colourful dungaree/hat sets. She never seems to stop working at something. They arrived outside in a very colourful (psychedelic) camper van which DIL has just bought. Not sure that was a good idea - they don't have much luck with 2nd hand vehicles. It suits her personality though.

A friend of mine asked...why do you walk round and round your front garden...

I said...I don't...

So she said what about those pathways on your front garden. That's nothing to do with me, I said it's the badgers that create those pathways...

There are a couple more pathways like that, that you can't see in my photo of the front garden....

Those badgers create deeper and wider pathways than a herd of sheep...

Trying to source some specific sized lidded plastic containers today. And I found some...

Quite cool today, but the weather is nice...Only 5pm and I am ready to go to sleep...

Going to lock up now...night from me...

Sweet dreams...

Footy Saturday. Why do I bother?
Weather is a bit cool and dry.
Morning doing pottering around, tidying in and out.
Dinnertime chores.
Just sat down seems like ages.
Mrs L has been doing better. And doing more for herself.
I nearly got a cuppa, but had to finish it and get it from the kitchen.
Grandkids came to game with me.
Lots to do, no carers today for some reason. Will be on the phone in the morning.
Best wishes.
