Dawn dump is the liver being a snotty and overbearing little madam. As far as I know and in simplistic terms, the liver decides to spring a load of hormones on you, including glucogen and this makes your BG rise. Why it dumps I've no idea perhaps it's being kind perhaps.Ok so this morning my FBG was 6.7 . Now that’s the highest I’ve been in the 12 days since I started testing normally under 6 . Had a livlife sandwich with cheese last night before bed and went to bed with s reading of 6.0. Which was also higher than normal . Think the sandwich supper will have to stop
Can someone explain this dawn phenomenon to me as I don’t have any idea what it is
Have a lovely day people
As the Irish proverb goes "A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book" added to that a little exercise and voila! BG chained.Morning all 5.6 today 4 hours sleep Sunday night caused inflation in bg numbers. As Governor of the Bank of BG I am writing myself a letter!
@flexi06 glad the phrase has resonance. @Debandez exercise bike is definitely the way to go but can become a bit of an obsession. I caught the bug a bit, padded shorts, oximeter, better bike with programs! It was basically how I lost my weight in the first 3 months and gained control of bg levels. Build up gradually and try for a thing called "sprint 8" if you can. Seems to be a bg killer.
@Debandez This may help http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/lowcarb-chinese-foods-10893.html. Now you have a PB of 15 minutes the bug will get ya. Try building in 30 sec sprints with 90 sec slow peddle or rest it will have much more impact for a short time.I'm not sure my 15 minutes low impact a week will be what it takes!! It was a novelty last night. I'm very happy : -) out for a Chinese with the girls Friday and frantically looking for healthy options. Don't want to blow all the hard work in one night!
Amazing how influential sleep is in bg control. Surely laughs are for wimps? As the Irish proverb goes "A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book" added to that a little exercise and voila! BG chained.
It's more difficult to get it off than get it in isn't it. Drink broth or oxo instead, easier to get rid of.8.4 this morning. I know it was caused by eating a lot of white bread late last night because I was so hungry I could have finished all. Going straight on my exercise bike to work it out
@Debandez, we've both been graced with the same lovely little number 4.8. It's magic and makes me smile. This is the fifth consecutive day for me and madam BG. I'm putting it down to the walk I do after supper so get on that bike.A drum roll please...... and again.......4.8!!!! How about yours?

@Debandez I would advise some form of trustworthy hr/pulse monitor. Far better guide for me than speed or calories burned. Look around the internet for info on heart rate and exercise and various ways of monitoring hr it is a game changer imho.I thought you.meant sprint running for a minute!!! Phew!!! Thank you
