What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

@Debandez thank you for posting that story.
I used to play piano a bit.

I'm glad people made it to the end. It's probably my longest post, anywhere, ever! I think so many used to play piano. I've been inspired by the ad to sort out my music. Might just give it a go again.

Can you please post the mug bread recipe?

Certainly. It's

30g of almond flour
10g of butter
1 egg
1 quarter of a teaspoon of baking powder.

Melt the butter in the mug in a microwave, add flour, egg and baking powder. Mix until a smooth paste.
Microwave on full power for 90 seconds.

Leave to cool then slice.

Hope this helps.

P

Thanks, Providence. This sounds delicious.

There are a couple of pianos in my apartment building that people can play. I don't know why I don't take advantage of them. Reading your posts makes me want to get back to them.

I will see if I can find the John Lewis ad on YouTube. I know their name but have never seen one of their ads.

Oh, my, I think I just saw the ad. No wonder you love it so, @Debandez .

That was the first Elton John song I ever heard. It took me back 48 years to my first year at university, sitting in a booth in the Italian restaurant where we all went when we wanted to run into a friend (no cars, not everyone had a phone so we went there and sooner or later the person you wanted to see would show up). I was a regular like people you see in movies where they just walk in and wave to the cashier and he writes down your usual. I can't remember if there was a jukebox in each booth or just one, or a sound system, but I clearly remember sitting there listening to "Your Song" and the guy for whom it was "my" song.

Wow.

Thanks again.

ETA: he was the first diabetic person I ever knew. We were 18.

Wow!

morning all - weekend at last. Not posted for a few days as have been v busy with some early mornings and also have been a bit "high" (BG not narcotics!) without any apparent reason. 6.9 today is about standard for a start reading but haven't hit the 5s at all during the day for a few days. I'm thinking this is a bit of stress and maybe the immune system fighting off a bug or two.
A couple of days to relax the brain and exercise the body will help.
No hugs required - am happy. Just focussed.

Is the John Lewis Elton John ad on YouTube? I would like to watch it.

@SueJB have a lovely time in Amsterdam. I'm hoping to visit the Netherlands someday. My mother's maternal grandparents came to America from Zuid-Holland.

This should take you to it. (Set me off again haha).

The ad is stirring up some wonderful memories isn't it?

Here you go, enjoy

4.9 today. Great start. Off to get my bloods done at the walk in centre. My DN appointment yesterday was cancelled. Apparently the nurse has just broken her wrist. How rude! I bet she threw herself around the place when she saw my name on the patient list. Once they're done im off xmas shopping. I might even treat myself to a scone (half no jam lots of cream) and a pot of tea. Or a bacon butty maybe (one slice of bread). 6 months to my next one. And it is Christmas....well almost!

It's very mild for the time of year. Feels more like September don't you think?

Whatever you are doing have a good one.

5.7 for 3rd day running. No amount of lipstick is likely to beautify that sounder of Gloucester old Spots. It does seem as though there "is a lot of it about" Whataboutery was never my bag Resting heart rate was rising from 11th as has bg levels. HR now heading down towards mid 50s so I hope bg goes with it.

Morning All. Ahem..4.9 at 0800. Tested again 4.6, get out of here! I really dont know whats going on. Yesterday evening at 6pm I was 6.0 when I would usually be high 4s. I always test before I prep supper so I know what food would suit me. Anyway feeling pretty fed up I had a couple of glasses of wine. At 8pm we all had roasted cod with fresh pesto and tenderstem brocolli (sauteed potatoes for the boys). I had a small portion. No afters. Before eating I was 5.3 2 hours later 5.1. Sorry to bore you all but I need to see this fairytale in writing.
Have a good Saturday everyone. Stay well, stay safe and hypo free.

5.3 - want to be annoyed as that’s fasting since 1pm yesterday so expected lower, but then I’d already been up half hour, sorting washing and tidying before I remembered to take blood so maybe I’d had little liver dump to help me with my chores
But, either way that’s done and dusted. Xmas songs at work yesterday, and today we are xmas shopping and I’m not leaving till everyone is bought for. This is my favourite time of year and so nothing is spoiling my mood till January 1st

Very happy for you @PenguinMum. That is what you get for hanging in there. Some dude called Kipling (made some cakes when not scribbling) had a neat line about all this stuff:
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
