Thanks @Emma_369 Don't see the BG as amazing but I like the Lipids getting back somewhere near OK. I may have finally undone (some of) the damage caused by fasting and cream in tea from earlier in the year. The results are amazing!! My hug was for you feeling meh about them
Hello there, shelly262. I still buy brightly wrapped chocolates and put them in crystal dishes around the house for guests. I too watched the programme and ended up eating 2 of the sweets but they were soooo sweet they made me shudder. Just shows how tastes can change. If there are any left after Christmas I'll take them to the luncheon club where I do my voluntary work. They will soon disappear! Just hope there is no-one with diabetes there as I'd hate to lead them astray.@Bubbsie wow your baked and made pressies look amazing. I do find it hard when making or baking non low carb - it’s the resisting of the scraping of the empty bowl but I’m making a traditional choc cake today so temptation lies ahead! Makes me think of my very realistic dream last night where I ate loads of quality street - after mum insisted yesterday evening that we watch this lacklustre hour long programme of Greg Wallace going through a factory producing quality street so expected my bgs to be up this am so relieved to find them up only slightly at 5.3. At least there are no actual quality street in the house to tempt me I refuse to have them lying around as they were one of my weaknesses a few years back. I used to put a few bowls of sweets out based on tradition for family and friends but everyone else ignored them except for me! I didn’t buy or eat sweets otherwise so don’t know why!
Have a good day all on what is probably Temptation Tuesday. Hope your bgs behave.
I tend to give hugs often because I believe every one deserves or needs a hug now and then no matter how good or bad their results are.I've had 3 hugs so far from my results - crikey I didn't think they were that awful but now I am getting worried - should I be.?? What am I missing that is so bad that you guys see so clearly???
Results day for me. OK but suitably unimpressed - although December's are always worse and these are a little better than last year
Hba1c = 38 - hugely disappointed there but whatevs; * I have a, perhaps wrong, idea about this
Serum cholesterol level 4.1 mmol/L down from 4.8 in summer with no cream in tea etc
Serum triglyceride levels 0.76 mmol/L [0.3 - 1.8] down from 1.3 in summer as above
Serum HDL cholesterol level 1.86 mmol/L
Serum LDL cholesterol level 1.89 mmol/L
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio 2.2
Serum non high density lipoprotein cholesterol level 2.24 mmol/L
All seems a bit MEH but I ain't in any danger I would say. Remains the case that I don't like this WOE but it doesn't seem to be actively harming me.
I need to know more about the effect on the normal Hba1c test of these little darlings
Haemoglobin concentration; Haematocrit; Mean cell volume because at the back of my mind is an article which I think explains why my own numbers will always look a long way out. Any help would be useful before I do damage chasing lower numbers on next 6 month test. Overall 3,5 year average fallen .1
Thanks.

Interesting I would imagine that I too would find them way too sweet now if I did give in even to one. xHello there, shelly262. There are many reasons why the HbA1c can be inaccurate.

My personal experience is my HbA1c has always been significantly higher than expected, and I mean significantly. I have done home HbA1c tests and worn a lot of Libres, plus my own meter testing over 4 years multiple times a day, and my GP accepts that my HbA1c is elevated. Last summer she contacted the consultant biochemist at the lab my surgery uses and between them agreed that I could have my HbA1c tested at this lab and another lab that uses different machinery, the two tests being done from the same blood draw. As there was a 4 mmol/mol difference in the 2 results (the usual lab being the higher of the two) they have agreed that I can continue to have it checked by both labs each time I am tested. Whilst I was pleased the second lab result showed a 4 point difference, it was still nowhere near the 8 point difference between my HbA1c and my other data. I have just had another two tests done but do not have the results as yet.
Thanks, Goonergal. You've just reminded me to go and buy my walnuts!@dogslife and @shelley262 I’m fine with sugary sweets lying around they hold no interest as they’re too sweet. My downfall is bowls of nuts and/or low carb treats. Can’t resist those - like you @shelley262 put the nuts out for sharing and end up eating them all myself!
Sorry that your hbaca1 doesn’t reflect your testing results very very frustrating and sure @Bluetit1802 has similar issues. Results day for me. OK but suitably unimpressed - although December's are always worse and these are a little better than last year

I am very happy to take the stains bearing in mind family history - especially those who thought it was a smart idea to gamble against them. As per chat with a GP I ain't gambling on being able to sprint across the A14 and emerge unscathed.Sorry that your hbaca1 doesn’t reflect your testing results very very frustrating and sure @Bluetit1802 has similar issues.
Your cholesterol results are excellent though clearly no worries there and no impending statins discussions unlike moi!
Aw Cumberland. Puppy is gorgeous! Well worth the wait. Enjoy!Rough night hypo first thing 3.1

Thanks for that. Mine are not that far apart but I am pretty sure I am lower than the standard Hba1c shows. Big lesson for me is to trust what I see daily and live with the higher docs numbers. Chasing lower numbers on that test is likely to cause big problems elsewhere. Many thanks for the links - hopefully what I think is going on will be verified in those. There are many reasons why the HbA1c can be inaccurate.
