Libre 5.2
Contour 5.2
Off to the gym before work today
@ianpspurs hope all goes well at the hospital & you can get back to the gym, take care
Thanks and I also hope God so blesses me but if not He knows best even if I don't see it at the time. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your A1c's are fine. Oops, forgot 5.2 today - It'll have to do. I'mma having almond milk in my tea before 10.00 am just to be a rebel.Morning All. Had a rare desperate need for something salty last night and went in search of crisps and way too many were consumed. Hence 8.6 this morning and I deserved it. I am trying to fix in my brain that when I see crisps packets they show a big flashing light ‘HIGH CARB ALERT’. @ianpspurs so good to see you here and I hope all your tests and scans give great results and you can get back to gym work. Happy Wed escay.
Do you know why they were at 12.3 at bedtime?Morning, a much better 7.4 for me this morning given that my bedtime sugars were rather high at 12.3.
At supper around 6pm I had a small helping of rice pasta , with fresh tomatoes, Lancashire cheese and red onions garnished with some fresh basil leaves. The sauce was a pesto with heavy cream. So I'm guessing it was the basil leaves that did it lol. My sugars rose like a mountain and stayed high until around 11ish and then they started their slow descent, bottoming out at around 3pm to 5 mmol/L. My baseline is usually 6 mmol/L.Do you know why they were at 12.3 at bedtime?

Thanks I of course paid the price lol. I was hoping the high fat content in the cream would tame it but alasWell that's not too bad as long as you enjoyed itIt sounds delicious!
Surely we can sometimes spike without there being a price to pay. Yeah, the spike might not be "good" and usually fat flattens things out (for me anyway). But, hey, if it was a nice meal then it's probably not a big deal. You went back down to normal. Maybe you've lost a day off of your life -- I doubt it -- but surely we have to enjoy and indulge ourselves sometimes as well. Treats are good, and that sounds like a great and healthy treat. Blood went high? Ok it went high, but not crazy. The price, as I see it, that you paid was a healthy meal but your sugars went high. Sounds like a good price to meThanks I of course paid the price lol. I was hoping the high fat content in the cream would tame it but alas
Would salted peanuts have fixed the craving ?Morning All. Had a rare desperate need for something salty last night and went in search of crisps and way too many were consumed. Thank you and it really was a tasty meal. And you are absolutely right, sometimes a high carb meal just tastes good and to hell with it lol. I really enjoyed it. Yes, fats usually tame the beast for me too. Maybe the fats did work and my sugars would have gone up way higher. I can touch 15, if I'm reckless. My sugars kind of rose and erupted like a great big mound. You may have read in my previous posts, but I'm gluten and lactose intolerant. I get really sick if I consume gluten, and lactose just makes me cough, or if I'm really bad and eat an iced cream then I get IBS. When all is said and done it's the hidden glutens in foods you buy that's the kicker. So I cook from scratch. My fbg this morning was in the 7's so my body pulled out the stops and drove that sugar down !Surely we can sometimes spike without there being a price to pay. I hope you are okay and your sugars have rebounded to a healthier level ()2 point something and then in hospital 24. I might have over comperacted
Big hugs. I'm sorry to hear you are in hospital. Are you aware when your sugars drop?Well I'm in hospital now with my levels in the 3s (they were in the twos before I got here) so maybe ignore everything I say lol. But I still think snacks are good (edit: and also good food. I'll beat this)
I find pork scratchings, or even better, pork puffs or crunchies which are lighter and don't break the teeth, work well to satisfy that craving, and no way can I eat a whole pack in one go and they are very low carbHad a rare desperate need for something salty last night and went in search of crisps and way too many were consumed
