What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.2 after the 7s I have been getting and the two corners of hot cross bun yesterday that was covered in butter, to say I am surprised is an understatement!
 
6.1 this morning at 8:30 but I had a very strange night…

Yesterday I’d basically been in the 6s all day and I ate dinner at 6pm. At 9:30pm my BSL shot up to 9.5 from 6.7 (within 15 minutes
) for no apparent reason and stayed in the 8s and 9s until it trended down between 3am and 4am to settle in the 6s. I remained 100% TIR but the rise and plateau is puzzling to me… maybe related to high protein dinner, I’m not sure. I don’t think it was bolus insulin related because everything was normal (for me haha) until about 30 minutes before the bolus was due to “wear off”, but I really don’t know. If it happens again tonight I might give myself a correction dose
 
Morning all, 8.9 this morning, I have no idea why. I can't imagine having a hot cross bun, goodness knows what my readings would be. I had some sushi the other day and I was dealing with blood sugars over 11mmol/L for over 3 hours. So no delicious buns for me. We are off on our travels in a few days, then spending the summer in Northern Newfoundland and Labrador, the land of Polar bears and sporadic internet. Here are a couple of photos, one is of the Canadian icebreaker the Henry Larsen freeing the ferry boat my partner was on a couple of weeks ago and the second a Polar bear close to our cottage. The Polar bears come down from the Arctic to hunt for seals.

Please remember gliclazide can cause low blood sugar. I take it you have means of checking your blood glucose levels.? If you can persuade your surgery to give you a freestyle libre 2 it makes things even safer as they will set off an alarm if you go low while asleep.
