What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

My fasting blood sugar was 8.9 this morning. I have T2 and am not on any medication for this. ! was told not to test my blood but do take a reading before breakfast and before bedtime nevertheless.
My reading before breakfast vary between 7 and 8. Before bedtime it varies between 10 and 14 according to what I have eaten and how late I have had my evening meal. I am not on a special low carb diet. Are these readings too high?
It is high. You need them lower.. Read the low carb parts of the forum. You will hopefully find them helpful

Hi. Not surprised with the diet they feed you. They don't cater for diabetics or heart patients. Chin up.
I’m been in hospital a few times since being diagnosed with diabetes and I’m not sure how they develop their ‘diabetes menu’. One day I was served basically nothing but plates of carbs (e.g. dinner pasta with tomato sauce, white bread roll, slice brown bread, ice cream). That time I was on fixed doses of insulin and it was not near enough to cover the mountains of carbs. I don’t eat anything remotely like that at home. Second time I was in hospital I was on carb:insulin ratio (for bolus doses) but they served me the same kind of stuff and I found it impossible to calculate doses so I was, basically, guessing and not guessing very well. I showed the Dr my graphs and menu and asked to be put on the ‘normal diet’, which he did. I was still guessing doses but it was a lot easier because the plate was more balanced and I could for example order bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomato for breakfast which is much easier for me to estimate the carbs (basically none). My BSL improved considerably after being switched off the ‘diabetes diet’ (whatever a diabets diet is even meant to be… seemed like as many carbs as possible). Thankfully I had a doctor who listened to my concerns with the diet and my difficulties with it

I need some advice on my blood sugar reading this morning as it's at 28.2 upon waking up, 8.9 when I went to bed last night and I feel so hungry. I'm on Novorapid, Tresiba and Metformin.
How did you take/get th 28.2 reading and did you double check it? Are you feeling ok apart from the hunger?
