When I was first diagnosed in 2003, I used to eat half a banana and put the rest in the fridge for the next day. I can't get away with even half a banana these days, so I take the easy route and leave them on the supermarket shelf.I'm still learning. Banana seems to be a problem for many, so I'll have to go extra careful and I need to do a shop and buy a little of the high cocoa chocolate for a time when I feel it's warranted.
I was punished last night for my deeds...... was awake with foot cramps, well mainly in my toes and my feet were burning n felt bruised as hell even when lying down with no weight on them.
Hope it's a better night tonight.
Just taken a reading and it's a steady 8.9 before I cook and eat my tea/ dinner. Could do with that reading tomorrow morning.
Yes, you should test immediately on getting up. Taking a shower or any other activity will make your BG go up.
All good now thanks x4 weeks since your tumble! Golly time has passed! Hope you're mended. xx
Off to the supermarket today and will find the 100% cocoa chocolate. When I was first diagnosed in 2003, I used to eat half a banana and put the rest in the fridge for the next day. I can't get away with even half a banana these days, so I take the easy route and leave them on the supermarket shelf.
Have you tried Montezuma's Absolute Black 100% cocoa chocolate bars, with no added sugar, no gluten, soya free and made without dairy ingredients? Perfect if you follow a keto or low-carb lifestyle, also for those with food intolerances, I imagine.
It's made in Sussex and available from Sainsbury's and Waitrose. Perhaps it's an acquired taste, but quickly grew on me. It's rich and intense, so a little to round off lunch goes a long way.
Once I'd tried Montezuma's 100% cocoa chocolate, nothing else would do.Off to the supermarket today and will find the 100% cocoa chocolate.
I can't wait to give it a try, next time I hanker after a sweet fix.
Thanks for the tips.
Looks like I'm going to have to ditch the bananas, the go to fix I love, following advice from Estragon and Living Lightly.
@LivingLightly - We have a started bar of Montezuma in the fridge. Been there for over six months. Horrible! Each to their own.Once I'd tried Montezuma's 100% cocoa chocolate, nothing else would do.
I can manage 2 squares of Montezuma's absolute black ... nibbled ...but it does seen to stop any cravings for anyting! The buttons are good because they are small. I am naughty and have their over 70% flavoured bars but only 4 squares after a meal!@LivingLightly - We have a started bar of Montezuma in the fridge. Been there for over six months. Horrible! Ty for the 'sweet' tip.5.8! Really happy. Funny how these readings affect my mood and subsequent food consumption for the rest of the day, meaning I tend to be a saint!I wondered if the antibiotics would interfere with my BG but I’ve only taken 2 so far and have 5 days of them.
@Ashybang I make sugar free jelly and add a few raspberries and blueberries before it sets. I have a couple of spoonfuls of the jelly with cream or yogurt as my sweet treat, might be worth a try.
Have a great Tuesday everyone x
So sorry to hear of your cramps. I know how awful they are. I had a similar night to yours, just two nights ago. Soon as legs are raised, cramping starts and sleep has very little chance of happening. I get burning feeling and badly bruised type feeling in feet as well as cramps in toes and cramps in foot just below toes.Morning all. No bg to report! Had the worst night ever. Ended up trying to sleep in chair with feet flat on floor because of cramps. I've run out of Magnesium and am finding them hard to find. @Ashybang,if you can find them, try Magnesium. Have a nice day folks
