What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning from California!
4.55 mmol/L 82 mg/d on Sunday morning.

I was heavy black coffee ️ drinker for about 30 years. I started having high BP (palpitation). No choice, stopped coffee and started black decaf tea w/o cream and sugar. BP is good, and no palpitations. Have a nice day everyone!

Adjusting from a blood glucose level of 9.2 to a target of 5 is a positive step. Collaborating with your healthcare team is essential for successful insulin management.
Hello @Thaigoros. Welcome to the forum and this FBG thread. We're pleased you could join us.

It looks as though you've replied to a poster who hasn't been seen here for many years so I doubt whether she'll reply, You'll find lots more recent posts on this thread.

Logging my FBG levels here, it must be said, helps to keep me motivated, especially when readings drift upwards due factors beyond our control like infection and injury.

Once again, welcome aboard.

See, despite what that doctor said to me, (not that I believed them anyway) testing IS a useful motivating factor.

Well, thank you, exactly. Beggars belief a man of science (and one who had a specialist interest in diabetes too) would argue that logic with me

I'm sure they didn't get to where they are by collecting 3 tokens off the back of a cereal box.

Of course there are many factors than just food, and of course you can say eat sensibly, but define sensibly... You only have to see what effects one person and not another. A post I was reading the other day said even a small amount of carrots did them a mischief, I mean 'who'd have thought carrots?!?!.' with conventional wisdom, they could have been eating a bunch of carrots each day and not thought that was not creating a problem for them, and a lot of people would have agreed. "carrots, are 'healthy' right?" I can manage a few carrots without a noticeable change to my bg it seems. Not so for her.

Waiting a few months to half a year to find out its all gone wrong from eating what is healthy for a lot of people seems like a long time, seems dangerous?

Seeing 5.1 this morning makes me likely to want to repeat my behaviours from yesterday also.

To me its like crossing a busy road with a blindfold on….

Yeah, I think of a map, if you know where the train station is, how do you know (I know you never fully know, and there's ALWAYS blips we have to overcome, but you've got a darn better idea than flying blind) the safest and most effective way of getting to that destination if you do not answer the current question - where am I situated currently? if you don't know, then you are what's the word, lost?

Yes, we can guess and maybe end up at the station platform avoiding the pit of eternal jam and getting there sometime by sheer luck, and in creative endeavours, and leisure I'd thoroughly encourage the path of discovery and getting lost on purpose, "not all who wander are lost".

I don't know if I want my health outcomes based on wandering around, being creative, and guessing which way to turn hoping that in the near future I will find the place I'd set out to be, if I knew I could prevent or lessen some of the negative outcomes by using some form of device to help me navigate.

I'm sure sailors don't need nautical charts or compasses either! [sarcasm]

Morning all. I'm in the nasty 9's this morning. Today starts a new weekforme so I'm going to write everything down and be ultra careful. I'm also going to ring the dr and ask for help, I can't seem to do it myself. @DEBBIESCOTT, it's the same with our surgery here in Lincolnshire. I can remember when we went to the dr, we took a seat and every time someone came out, the next one went in and we all moved up a seat. Sometimes they were the good old days! Have a good day all. :)
In Lincolnshire too, mine is one of the ones that were named last year as being the worst in the county

Evening @Ashybang. This morning's reading of 6.9 mmol is none too shabby after a rough night.

Are these sinus headaches, bilious attacks, tension headaches or migraine that you suffer from?
Not idle curiosity, the prevention and remedies for various types of headache are different.

I hope you were able to take it easy today and feel better this evening.
Thanks for your reply LivingLightly.
To be honest I don't know what has brought headaches on, but I had the same again last night. Once again Paracetamol couldn't remove the pulsing pain.
I was okay for the most part of the day yesterday and am fine again today.
If it happens again tonight, I may get checked at GP surgery.
This morning my BG was 8.6 mmol. I felt drained and went back to bed.
My sinuses have been a bit blocked and very dry mouth, but I've been hydrated ok.
I'll see where it goes tonight .....fingers crossed it doesn't return.

6.4 today…zero carbs for five days now….oh, this body! Party time this morning, it’s “warmed up” to minus 18! Woohoo. The polar vortex is receding
but, the snow is coming, and lots of it. Time to stock up again before Tuesday.

Do you think you are drinking enough H2O? Being dehydrated affects me greatly. Also, I find a good "soak" during the day aids me in obtaining lower numbers
Thanks for replying Estragon.
I believe I'm drinking enough, though I do get very dry mouth at night.
I keep a jug of H2O next to my bed, so I don't have to get up, each time I take a drink. Ill see how I am tonight with everything.......

Testing at home is one of the best tools for me. For some it can be expensive. I have lowered my A1c by testing and record keeping!

Sinus headaches tend to start early in life and often run in families. A stuffy nose plus facial pain over the eyes and cheeks in addition to the headache is typical and the pain gets worse when you lie down. Boots the Chemist carry an own brand decongestant tablet which is effective.

So-called tension headaches are the most common type. A steady ache, rather than a pulsing or throbbing pain is typical and tends to affect both sides of the head, but is sometimes one-sided. Usually, this type of headache doesn't cause sensitivity to light or sound and improves when you lie down on the side that hurts most. Paracetamol taken every 4 hours should provide pain relief.

A bilious headache is almost always accompanied by nausea and sometimes other gastric symptoms which you haven't mentioned.

Migraine typically runs in the family and starts fairly early in life. A one-sided headache and increased sensitivity to light or sound is characteristic. Visual disturbances are common. Sufferers usually learn to recognise the signs and sometimes the triggers of an impending migraine attack, so commence treatment early.

There are other less common causes. It's good to know you're feeling fine today, but should it happen again this week, I'd certainly seek a medical opinion.

Thank you again LivingLightly.
No point in seeing my G.P.
I'll keep posting here and await the replies.
The knowledge about always amazes me. Thank you for passing it on......
I think a trip to Chemist is the way forward & possibly decongestant tablets.
The Pharmacist may confirm they're needed. Paracetamol have always been my 'Go To' remedy, but not been effective recently for whatever the reason is.
Hopefully headache stays away tonight as I need a good sleep if possible.
No sign of any pain yet....19.50 hrs.
