What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks for the advice. I don't understand though why so high 1st AM and last PM even when fasting 2 days with zero carbs or anything else for that matter just prescribed pills. It seems my body is fighting to bring down those end of day highs only to start again at a similar high in the morning. As I said before there seems to be no logic, just frustration.
Morning @ChrisT2

I don't know whether it's any consolation, but most of us here could not handle 160 mg of carbohydrates daily. You don't need to fast unless you particularly wish to. You've changed your meal times, but your readings show that a reduction in foods which are predominantly starch is called for.

Without knowing what foods that 160g consists of, it's hard to advise you further. If you post again we can help here:

Will try and reduce carbs further but difficult trying to fit in with family meals. Might add a bit more fasting as that is easier but found it made no difference in the past. Willing to try anything.

I don't know what mine is. My GP/Diabetic nurse have stopped my daily testing............told me it was 'only a snapshot' of how it is at that particular moment, so I should only do it once a month! Also they didn't want me to 'hurt my fingers' with daily tests. Interestingly, they took the test strips off my prescription but left the lancets on there. What's the point of that?
I was under the impression (from my surgery) that if on meds that could cause a hypo, testing strips and lancets were put on repeat prescription...? If I were you and was on meds, I would point this out to the GP/DN. I roll my eyeballs in disbelief sometimes how we are treated.

That's the spirit @ChrisT2. Even habits of a lifetime can be replaced for good, if there's a desire to succeed. It helps to focus on the many delicious foods we can safely eat, and try not to dwell too much on those that we should avoid, like pasta, rice and spuds. (Btw there's a tasty, diabetic-friendly alternatiive for each of these, if needed.)

Keeping our blood glucose readings in check is a daily challenge, but it does get easier. After a while, low-carbing becomes second nature. I'm always on the lookout for new, mouthwatering recipes and this forum provides heaps of inspiration. It's important to enjoy our low-carb healthy fat lifestyle, otherwise we'd never stick to it, would we?

Morning All 6.5 for me which is satisfactory. @Estragon hug for the stress test. @ChrisT2 I recommend sharing the protein part of the family meal and changing the accompaniments so green veg /cauli rice/mashed swede or celeriac/salad rather than chips/potatoes/rice/pasta. Enjoy Wednesday everyone.
Hi, thanks for the foodie tips. Thankfully I am not a rice or pasta fan, our main veggie is boiled potatoes and occasionally oven chips. Protein stuff is either fish (not my favourite except tuna) or meat avoiding processed items. As for veggies I think they will have to force feed me because I tend to avoid anything green
I am currently in consultation with the head chef and food buyer who will readjust my menu somewhat reluctantly, bless her
