No I've got it wrong it's not you sorry it's paula121s similar names, told you the head doesn't always work especially with names!!Haha!K

Morning all, are you all snowed in?? We have no snow in Wiltshire.

BG today 7.00. Not particularly happy with that, but under the circumstances I’ll take it!

@ziggy_w Thank you, you do get used to having a background of pain but it does flare up now and then. Generally when I’ve over done it. I don’t like going on about as it can be totally consuming. I prefer to stay positive, after all in the grand scheme of things I am doing ok, there are a lot of people far worse off than me.

Hi@paula121s was hoping your pain levels had eased all that's left is a waiting game until the flare up subsides hope its soon for you. I use the heat pads you put in a microwave and find them useful with pain relief.
And we have no snow in this part of Lancashire though it tried briefly this morning !Take care. K

Hi GG, it was a pleasure. Hope your still improving. I have a problem with my spine, have arthritis and apparently in the words of the consultant, “it’s busy disintegrating!! I’ve had a few ops on my neck. Unfortunately they have only given me temporary respite. Most of the time you learn to live with it. But as I’m a tiny bit stubborn , every now and then I do what I’m not meant too! My drive up to Sheffield to see my daughter and the busy Christmas shopping, followed by the 5 hour drive home, broke me! I still think it was worth it....others are not convinced. I try not let it rule my life, but sometimes it floors me.

@paula121s you sound just like me I don't give in,years ago we were adviced to lie on a hard mattress I found the more I moved around within reason I didn't stiffen up has much, with this in mind I carried on working until I was 64 it didn't do me any harm and I now think it's what's kept me more mobile. K

Well done GM...fabulous result...41 down to non-diabetic levels...like you dreading the onset of really bad weather...the possibility of snow.. . may have to go to work overnight...will be taking my time with any driving I need to do...slow & steady for a change...enjoy your day at home...love it when the day ahead of me is all mine.

@Glenmac agree totally with Bubbsie fabulous results! K

Could have been the beer K...could have been the honey...most likely explanation is you're poorly at the moment...not sleeping much...stressed...anxious...nothing like that combination for raising those BGs...don't worry about the temporary rise too much...concentrate on getting rid of that cough...getting well...then you can get back on track...good luck with the appointment.
@Bubbsie thanks for that couldn't understand higher reading hardly had much on my plate for 10.4 will see how I go now I've got meds from doctors,he says I have bronchitis! K

Oh no! You poor thing. There was me thinking you were on the mend. On the plus side you know what it is and hopefully treat accordingly. I hope your soon on the mend.

Granny Grump, yes I'm still struggling with pain. I'm just hoping I can be better by Christmas, got my mother in law coming and at least I can escape from her in the kitchen .

Thank you. Yes I've tried the heated pads but I don't like the smell. I now rely on my small heated fleecy blanket. It's a bit like a miniature electric blanket. It was my £5.00 bargain from Lidl a few years ago.

5.1 this morning at 6am.Saw diabetes nurse yesterday!Braving hail and high winds to keep the appointment, the waiting room was deserted. She was delighted with my latest HbA1c result..........41 after reducing Metformin and no Gliclazide for last three months. She now has reduced my dose down to one Metformin a day.I also confessed to having stopped the statins,so will do extra bloods in three months time.Just glad I don't have to go out today,as we have some snow and I'm not a very brave driver...aqua planing on a busy road yesterday was a thrill too far! ..Take care everyone and wrap up warm!
Early Christmas present, well done.

@paula121s Oh yes I did hear about them but theirs not a Lidl near me,it's a drive away to next town, it's not important what you use only if it works for you, I've had my wheat bag for a number of years and I don't care if it stinks to high heaven when I need itHaha!! And of course my trusty hot water bottle heaven! K Wonder if Lidl is still doing them my son has a bad knee injury and after months of physio he still cannot use that leg properly. It's locked in a bent position wondered if one would help him, will check out their web page. Love the people on here so many good suggestions and help with lots of things not just diabetes. Anyway take it easy and relax if you can! K

@paula121s just had a quick look on Lidl online there is a blanket but I don't think it's the one you have, did you say yours was electric or have I got that wrong! K

@paula121s they mustn't have them now cannot find any online, thanks!K
Hi Granny_grump. I had my mini electric blanket from Argos. It was more expensive but has several settings and is soft and flexible so can be placed/ curved around the parts that hurt. I sometimes keep mine on a low setting all night to help me sleep. The disadvantage v a microwave heat pad is it that has to be within reach of an electric socket or extension but you don't have to keep getting up to reheat it.
