What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.1 this morning at 6am.Saw diabetes nurse yesterday!Braving hail and high winds to keep the appointment, the waiting room was deserted. She was delighted with my latest HbA1c result..........41 after reducing Metformin and no Gliclazide for last three months. She now has reduced my dose down to one Metformin a day.I also confessed to having stopped the statins,so will do extra bloods in three months time.Just glad I don't have to go out today,as we have some snow and I'm not a very brave driver...aqua planing on a busy road yesterday was a thrill too far! ..Take care everyone and wrap up warm!

good morning all :)

3.9 today

not the best nights sleep at all and have been up for a couple of hours, blooming anxiety! Never mind, we're still here although it blew the Xmas lights off the lampost nearest the house :wideyed:
Thought we got away with it here geeful...had a look outside...weather wise it looked fine...just heard the news...Caroline not expected until later...b***r...that'll teach me for being smug...lets hope it subsides quickly...hate it when my sleep is disturbed...maybe you'll be able to snooze later?...catch up on some rest.

4.7 this morning @ 6 AM mind you that's after a trip to Asda's then the garage for fuel and after a few gulps of a Costa Latte before realizing I hadn't tested my BG yet.

Oh yeh and no meds though may start back on metformin as it helps protect against cancer it now seems.

Can also give you the runs too. A very useful drug indeed.

Morning everyone

@HelenHak thank you I do use Sterimar for my sinuses it is very good at clearing your nose, but it's running freely at moment it's now my lungs and ribs that hurt been sat upright all night to help with coughing,I'm off to doctors in next few minutes so will speak later. Thank you everyone! K

@paula121s again thank you yes I did manage a little better nights sleep still woke up around three times but slept in between ,and hopefully you are getting a better pain management constant pain is so draining and debilitating,I've had osteoarthritis in my spine since I was 28years old with heavy boxes and trays of operating theatre instruments to lift and carry from room to room, not suffered has much since retirement but I can pace my day now. I get flare ups from time to time but I just rest more until it settles. Take care and best wishes to you. K

Hi GG, it was a pleasure. Hope your still improving. I have a problem with my spine, have arthritis and apparently in the words of the consultant, “it’s busy disintegrating!! I’ve had a few ops on my neck. Unfortunately they have only given me temporary respite. Most of the time you learn to live with it. But as I’m a tiny bit stubborn , every now and then I do what I’m not meant too! My drive up to Sheffield to see my daughter and the busy Christmas shopping, followed by the 5 hour drive home, broke me! I still think it was worth it....others are not convinced. I try not let it rule my life, but sometimes it floors me.

Good morning all. Blood sugars today were 5.2.

@Granny_grump_ -- hope the doctor is going to be able to help with the cough, so that you can get some much needed rest.
@karen8967 -- good luck for the appointment with your consultant.
@paula121s -- my heart goes out to you, you must be in pain a lot of the time.

Wow, you’ve been busy!! Of course I’ve done all that and more.....in my imagination!! Well done.

Morning all, are you all snowed in?? We have no snow in Wiltshire.

BG today 7.00. Not particularly happy with that, but under the circumstances I’ll take it!

@ziggy_w Thank you, you do get used to having a background of pain but it does flare up now and then. Generally when I’ve over done it. I don’t like going on about as it can be totally consuming. I prefer to stay positive, after all in the grand scheme of things I am doing ok, there are a lot of people far worse off than me.
