Take care @PenguinMum so sorry to hear about your health being in pain makes sleep almost impossible and all of which puts the bgs up. You are clearly doing all the right things re food etc but need to ride this one out by being as kind to yourself as possible. One thing to bear in mind is that in the past when pain and lack of sleep happened your bgs may well have been much much higher if eating too much comfort food so do bear this in mind - you’re doing great sticking at the food choices. Mine was easyish in Greece as lots of easy lc choices of stuff that are my fave things, sardines, feta cheese, lamb, eggs and Greek yoghurt so consider myself lucky.Morning All. A very disheartening 7.2 but terrible nights sleep again and knee still a bit inflamed and painful. Am being very careful with my food but it is what it is. Have put off my trip to Kent till Sunday so things need onstart moving along.
@Keesha happy travels.
@Chronicle_Cat great result very pleased for you.
@shelley262 you are amazing and strong to have maintained your level through holiday and beyond.
Have a good day All. Stay safe.
Good job ChronicleJust got back from my doctor's. As soon as she came into the room, she told me "You are fantastic." My hb1ac was 5.6% (38) and everything else was well within the normal range (as it was before). I've lost a total of 39.9 lbs (18 kg) and I've lost 5" off my waist (I have dropped 2 clothing sizes).
We talked about carbs and I gave Dr. Unwin's article and some other materials, she's very supportive of low carb eating for diabetics. She knows that I got encouragement from my best friend (who is also her patient who brought her hb1ac down from 26% to a number even lower than mine). Our doctor now has 2 in her practice who've reduced their numbers with eating low carb. We also talked about why low fat/low calorie has not worked for me in the past and I told her that for the first time in my life, I have normal hunger.
She told me that her biggest challenge with getting patients to eat low carb is cultural, some of her patients are south Asian and their diet is very carb heavy. (I told her that I understood as my son-in-law is from south India and I referred her to a video with a British doctor of south Asian heritage who works with this population and has had success getting them to eat low carb or at least lower their carbs.)
Prioritise that cold Emma...time enough to get those BG's back down when you're feeling better.My highest FBG of 6.8 this morning. This cold that’s been brewing has hit full force with what feels like golf ball size swollen glands to suit- so guess I may be in a for a few days of frustrating readings![]()
Have a lovely time.I won't be posting for the next couple of weeks as I am going to Seoul, Taiwan and Macau for a vacation.

Bloody hell Orson what a nightmare...you need to rest today after a tumble... all those muscles that stretched to protect you in the fall can be so painful the following day...yes the kindness of strangers is touching I'm sure he understood why you didn't respond...get something for that cold/flu...if you were nearer I'd dispatch a pot of home made chicken soup...I swear by it...take care...despite your ailments holding up well with a 5.8Full on lurgy hits home here. I knew something was amiss yesterday when I fell off my bike. I wasn't moving but - Boom, -head to pavement and a lump today to prove it . At the time I just felt , you know stupid, plainly dumb, after all I've been riding bikes for ever .. It was especially emabassing as a very Kindly gent stopped to see if I was alright, honestly how nice some people are and my pride was so wounded I couldnt respond, I was also winded I'll say in my defence. .
.. I think it was the first sign of lack of balance from a gunged up throat /ears, plus trying to fit more into a day/moment than is technically possible . So hopefully can have a peaceful day doing as little as possible . Oh yea blood reading this morning 5.8. Take it easy if you can , Ironically I've just had a text to say that I can have a flu jab! - What feeling like this I want to respond but of course its a one way texting system they use....... hey Ho !
