What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi everyone hope you are all well haven’t posted for ages and haven’t really been testing regularly but pleasantly surprised with a 4.6 this morning hope all have a good weekend
Hi @Andygoat and welcome back to this FBG thread. We're pleased you could join us once again.
It looks as though you've ht the ground running. Well done!

Errrm Apologies flonvic, but bird feeding station is not set up yet......
There must be another way...........
Good luck with your No Meds readings & health.
Been off linagliptin 1 month and numbers rising especially pre and post meals but dn wont listen.Might go for an earlier hba1c.

Oh no! I thought you were doing ok having a slice or 2 of green apple.
At least you now know for sure.

Slice or two of green apple I can still eat and doesn’t raise my bg. Overall I find out that I have fructose intolerance. So I have to find alternatives. Thanks for the answer and good luck

Odd one this morning : my Libre was two points out and not its usual 1 or less compared to the CodeFree meter. I did leave the meter out instead of putting it under my pillow and the average temperature in my bedroom was 10.2 deg C overnight. I don’t know if that made the difference. Anyhooo
Libre 5.3 (I got excited hoping to see a 6-ish on my finger prick)
Meter 7.4 (nope!)

7am BG 8.6 mmol. .........YaY.....
I'll take that, after yesterday's fiasco.
Slept like baby last few hours and feel great for it.
Watch your steps folks, lots of slippy frosty ice about.
There you go! Although I cannot even smell a potato without it adversely affecting my BG.

@LivingLightly I am going to put the remaining 2 McCains frozen jacket potatoes currently in my freezer into the microwave then pop them out in the snow for the jackdaw family. Distract them from the calciworms and sunflower hearts in the feeders for the little birds.

6.4 this morning. Had a small slice of low carb orange and almond cake last night, bloods went up from 5.5 to 7.4 after an hour and a half and were still at 6.5 four hours after I had eaten. The cake obviously didn't suit me. Oh well....

@PenguinMum, just read your excellent news.:D:D Please accept my heartfelt congratulations, even it they are a little late in the day.

Well, this morning'fasting BG was a lousy 14.2! Very disturbing and only made worse that apparently my last Hba1c has spiked. I confess these last few months I've rather fallen off the wagon and these results only confirm my stupidity.

Well, a new day and new beginning. A few years ago I had this baby in total remission and I was 14st 7lbs and looking and feeling good. Atm I'm 16st 7lbs, so the goal is to lose 2st.

I am 71 now with a dodgy knee so heavy exercise is put of the question, but I reckon a daily walk and a healthier diet could have significant results.

I suspect the doc will be reaching for his prescription pad this time (I've previously managed my T2 with diet and exercise) and metformin is on the cards, but if I have to take it then I'm hoping it will only be for a few months. Watch this space.

Hi @Peanut234 Not a great start to your day. It's disheartening when this happens after a good run of numbers, but at least you have a pretty good idea of the reasons.

Can you replace the sugar with different rewards when chaos, pain and stress strike?
Thankyou @LivingLightly. In theory yes, different rewards would be an option. But there is nothing else in particular that my brain would find a reward. Unless you count retail therapy, and I haven't got the budget for that. I need surgery, so a bath or a walk are not an option either unfortunately. Perhaps I can find a book (though I like to read those cover to cover, in one go, which is not particularly sustainable)

10.0 this morning which is better:) Had a swim and a more productive day than usual with chores. Hoping the extra movement will result in a lower number tomorrow. Also had a slight degrease in weight over the last week, which is uncharacteristic, and i'm holding my breath and hoping it continues. I have planned a small victory dance for when I get under 10.0. Hopefully tomorrow.
