Being told “Oh go on, one won’t hurt you!”.
Conversely, the food police.
This very early snowy Monday morning I have awoken with GERD, stomach pain, nausea and results in the high stickies.
Libre 5.7
Finger stick 6.7
Heyho. Going back to bed to sleep this off, methinks. Try again later.

Well, thank you, exactly. Beggars belief a man of science (and one who had a specialist interest in diabetes too) would argue that logic with me

I'm sure they didn't get to where they are by collecting 3 tokens off the back of a cereal box.

Of course there are many factors than just food, and of course you can say eat sensibly, but define sensibly... You only have to see what effects one person and not another. A post I was reading the other day said even a small amount of carrots did them a mischief, I mean 'who'd have thought carrots?!?!.' with conventional wisdom, they could have been eating a bunch of carrots each day and not thought that was not creating a problem for them, and a lot of people would have agreed. "carrots, are 'healthy' right?" I can manage a few carrots without a noticeable change to my bg it seems. Not so for her.

Waiting a few months to half a year to find out its all gone wrong from eating what is healthy for a lot of people seems like a long time, seems dangerous?

Seeing 5.1 this morning makes me likely to want to repeat my behaviours from yesterday also.
My "named" Doctor who incidentally I try not to see, is also the Diabetes specialist at the practice. I avoid him as he does not instill me with confidence. Like yours, @ravensmitten, he told me that is was not necessary to test, he believes or at least touts that the results of an annual HbA1c is all that is needed. I guess that must be the official line from the NHS. I do my own thing and so far I have managed to keep my bloods under control so that it now states on my blood results "in remission". Hope that continues as to be honest I have struggled a bit since last year.
I think all the non-support I have received from HCPs over the years may have got to me. I used to be keenly motivated now it's a bit deja vous. Don't mean to be negative as I think things might he changing for the better albeit very slowly. I don't get "you must eat carbs" like I used to, and whilst they won't advocate low carb, I now get "just keep on doing what you are doing." My last review was actually quite positive she was impressed with the control I was achieving and the weight loss. After nearly 5 years I am also still symptom free which has got to be a good thing. My siblings are all type 2 as well, but have bought into "keep taking the tablets and follow NHS guidelines". Each of them are now suffering one sort of diabetic issue or another. Eyes and feet problems and one had a stroke a few years ago. The other side of it is, I react to dairy so my cholesterol is very high as a result my Qrisk score is pretty awful. However as Qrisk seems to be a bit of a lottery, I'll accept the risk. At the end of the day, we all have to do what seems right to us.
Didn't get around to posting yesterday but FBG was 5.9 and this morning it is 5.7.

Cheers.

The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
6.7 this morning after being woken by the neighbour again, 5:30am who moves furniture around at that time. Its like a replay of Pacific Heights! Another headache probably sinus on left eye, always the same eye. Had cut out cream, it had eased the sinus problem for about 3 weeks but I think the butter has started it again. Going to come off dairy completely and see how that plays out.

6.5…..no carbs for six days…bad pancreas.
its a toasty minus 17 right now. I did some shopping this morning as the big snowfall is coming. Seriously, it’s not too terrible out there, certainly fresh
going to see if I can get a dexcom 7. The libre just was way too off with its readings, not a help at all. I want one for our holiday in Sri Lanka, just makes it easier with me especially with food that I’m not sure of the ingredients.

I use Dexcom one sensors with an Anubis G6 transmitter to form closed loop with omnipod.

Other than the size of Dexcom G6/G1 it’s very accurate after the initial rouge 12 hr period and can be calibrated

Evening @Ryhia.

Crikey! An awful lot can happen between annual HbA1c tests and, as we age, the potential for change to occur is that much greater. Small wonder he doesn't instill you with confidence.

I was issued with a glucometer and test strips, it must be said, upon diagnosis in 2003 and have received 50 strips with each repeat NHS prescription every 12 weeks ever since; not quite sufficient to test daily, but it's a help. (I self fund the balance.)

A practice nurse once muttered "I don't know why you're testing" but didn't look me in the eye when she passed the remark and moved on quickly without waiting for a reply. Last time we met, she reviewed my HbA1c results plus lipid panel and commented "We should all be eating the way you're eating." That's the closest she's come to paying me a compliment!

Congratulations Ryhia on controlling your BG numbers without medication.
