- The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
I have no intentions of going back to my old eating habits and certainly no pre prepared excuses however, most of my slow but steady decrease in BS readings I have attributed to eating especially salads which in the past I have never even considered. Once the cheap salad stuff diminishes in the supermarkets and the winter foods replace I was worried (and still am) that I would not be able to substitute salads for a similar low carb alternative.Sounds to me like you are already talking yourself into coming off the wagon/having a ready made excuse/giving up?
However, winter is along way off and by then you will be surprised how your tastebuds and habits have changed. Winters no problem with hearty warming casseroles, stews, soups, toasted cheese, chocolate puddings warm from the microwave.
Ps when I first joined here I thought what these strange people were telling me I'd like were mad and crazy. Now I'm one of them and they were right! I had to force myself to have a tiny piece of next doors hm birthday cake tonight. I really didn't want it but when she offers it at the door, at 97, she's hard to refuse!
Morning @ChrisT2. In the circumstances you describe, these are normal readings. It's early days. You're doing well.6.1 this morning at 6AM and no complaints there. Tested for a laugh at 0800 as skipped breakfast and it was 6.7!!! Looks like fresh air is carb loaded which was my only intake since getting up. Like others here still can't get to grips with the ups and downs of the readings, certainly for me remains a mystery as well.![]()
Rule number 1--dont compare. It will get you down!We are all different and you are newly diagnosed.Welcome to the forum.I have recently been diagnosed and mine was 9.8 which looking at everyone else's doesnt look great. tbh
I'm doing shi*e lol not funny really but if you can't laugh at yourself .... Been visiting family , testing but not recording on here because difficult to get on here on my phone ....anyway numbers been high from 10's to 12 's mainly , all due to my carb fest. Had a wake up call when I got home yesterday my eye screening ( first in 4 years ...although I do have the extra testing at the opticians which have all had really positive results ) has come back showing some retinopathy ! Talk about shocked so no more messing about very annoyed with myself and my stupidity . Bet you wish that you had never asked lol Very small plus my hba1c is down from 89 to 77 .@mojo37.Nice to see you posting again. How are you doing?x
Sorry you are having a bad time. Those b+++dy carbs are a nightmare! No,I dont wish I hadn't asked how you were.Missed your postings.Dont forget,"Its good to talk".I'm doing shi*e lol not funny really but if you can't laugh at yourself .... We're all different, but I went cold turkey on sweet, carb-heavy foods and although I'd thought my tastes might change, I was unprepared for just how quickly that happened. Worth a try. Nothing lost if it doesn't work for you.I have no intentions of going back to my old eating habits and certainly no pre prepared excuses however, most of my slow but steady decrease in BS readings I have attributed to eating especially salads which in the past I have never even considered. However having received some good advice and pointers on here I have a few items to consider and experiment with.
