What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.9 this morning. Have been fasting until lunch but after reviewing morning numbers I think I’ll be eating just a bit in the morning as it lowers my glucose. Experiment to begin tomorrow.
Weird isn't it. I also find that if I do a daytime fast or skip a meal my BS actual rises more steeply than if I had something to eat. Seems counter productive that I need to eat just to bring down my readings a little. The worst one to skip is lunch as normally my BS naturally falls after lunch but when skipped it just goes on rising till pre dinner. Sadly lunch is the most difficult meal to be consistent with in my daily routines.

Anyway rambling on, borderline 6.9 this morning, must eat.

Mine does the same .

My glucose is odd and concerning today. Woke up with 6.5, it did go down to 5.9. I ate a wee bit this morning and even included some carbs, two tiny strawberries. I ate them last, started with my butter coffee and a piece of cheese. Oddly my glucose went to over seven, something I never see! All morning at the gym it was high sixes. So unusual. I walked about 5 km and did some weights. It never came down and was still 6.9 at lunchtime. I had ground beef and some pork belly….and it’s now at 7.2……after a two km walk. Is my pancreas finally giving up….or just a bad day?
food is certainly not a problem and I’m not sick or stressed.
im heading into the garden….my happy place

That's normal @ChrisT2. Congratulations on achieving an improving FBG reading first thing. It's still early days.

Try to have lunch at near enough the same time each day.

Given time and a consistent LCHF lifestyle, your FBG readings should gradually fall further, so the rise will begin from a lower starting point.

Meanwhile, IME, you can stop a rise with a modest snack; a teaspoon of sunflower or pumpkin seeds or four to five almonds or hazelnuts should do the trick without affecting your appetite at breakfast or at lunch..

6.7 this morning. Happy to be within the 6's but on holiday for a couple of weeks tonight. Think it will be difficult to keep readings where I want them and also won't be able to test quite as often but need a break from "normal" everyday life.

@living lightly thanks for the food tips, I do try to go for consistency with meals but sadly work, family and other stuff does sometimes try to derail my best efforts. We all have our crosses to bear so do what we can, comforting to be in good company on here.

6.5….or more, I forget…I’m just plain angry.
fasted this morning and had the same results as yesterday….now sitting at 7.2….two hours after some steak, bacon, salami and cheese….not a carb in sight (no carb bacon, salami and cheese). I’m keeping hydrated and currently have 13,000+ steps and an ab workout. These numbers may not seem horrific, but for me they are very high. I’m giving it a week, if they continue to be high I’ll call my doctor and have her send a request for a fasting insulin and c peptide test….my next A1C is early Oct. and I see her shortly after that.

and might I add…what a beautiful day! Low 20’s and sunshine forever…..
