What's your weight loss today/this week?

The dreaded "E" ca help kick start weight loss too. You don't need to keep it up for ever and doesn't have to be etreme.

Now the weather is improving a walk for abou 30 mins 5 days a week if you can would probably help a lot.

Finally lost 1 lb.

I do exercise every day - usually 90 minutes a day incorporating walking, aerobics and some cardiac work as well. It keeps my blood levels down. I hated exercising at first, but now I love it and don't feel right if I don't do it. My weight may have stuck, but I am fitter than I have been since I was a teenager.

well done and congratulations on the exercise (see it's not such a scary word!) I find I lose more due to combined effect of diet & exercise. Also with diet you can't choose where you lose the weight from, at least with exercise you can target where to tone. I have 16 lbs to lose until i'm at target, i'm making a big effort now to get there as soon as poss as I reckon i should have the money for my reward in about 4-5 weeks

Excellent idea.

My problem is a large one - just like me!

About 6 months ago I was 155kg but was suffering from from type 2 diabetes (metformin [not SD] and insulin), Arthritis in the Knees, hips, hand and back, gout, and now COPD! I therefore have great difficulty walking and tend to use a buggy.
I also have a hiatus hernia which gives me considerable discomfort especially as my anti inflammatory pills are liable to give me ulcers and so I have to take other pills to counteract them.

It is often said that I should have been shot by now

Since my COPD diagnosis I attended COPD rehab course at the local hospital and they managed, after I completed the course, to get me in touch with a Local Authority gym that was able to work out a scheme for me that avoided too much "walking" exercise but concentrated on other exercises. I am feeling fitter and losing weight!

I now have now managed to get down to 135 kg, but am now finding problems with my sugars which are shooting up and down like a fiddler's elbow (from hypo level to 14+) so I am having great problems regulating my diet.

My next target is about the 100 kg mark

Any suggestions would be welcome. Look forward to hearing from you!!!

Hello Fred

Congratulations on your weight loss. My dad had COPD and I know how hard it was for him to lose weight because he was so breathless.

I'm not much use with suggestions for regulating your sugars, but I'm sure that someone will post some excellent suggestions. I am an extremely boring person and tend to eat the same thing every day so my bloods stay more or less the same.

Still stuck fast! In fact, I'm at 17st 2lb, which is a net gain of 2lb since 16th December. I've been up and down over Christmas, but this 2lb won't shift. And I'm being so good at the moment :( . Not even any wine :D .

Fred, well done on your weight loss. I understand the problems of limited mobility - I can't walk far either, and am advised only to use the exercise bike at the gym. What do you eat at the moment? Many of us find that limiting our carbohydrate intake steadies our blood glucose, but I'm not an insulin user, so I don't feel I can advise.

Viv, have you ever considered doing some maths and adding up how many calories per day?
There is a theory that if you baffle your body by differing amounts of calories, whilst not eating any less, it gets your metabolism working again.

Say for arguments sake, you eat 2000 calories per day. During the course of a week or two you still have an overall calorie intake that adds up to the same amounts of calories.

Eat 1800 one day, 2200 another, 1600 then next day, 2400 the next and so on. You are not eating any less but just altering the daily amounts. It doesn't have to be a daily change in the amount, you could do it every two to three days.

Another 1 and a half pounds off, making that 5 and a half post diagnosis on 9/3/12. Chuffed!

That's excellent Jeannemum

Hi

I started Weight Watchers April 2011 and by September 2011 (weight then 10st 10lb) i had lost 2 stone so i can now fit back into my size 12's (weight now 8st 10lb) and still have abit of room it brought my confidence back and i feel so much healthier for doing it. Must admit i had to stick to the diet religiously and not have no slip ups but because i was so eager to get back to my old self i followed all the rules.

Wow! Well done Tracey

Yes, well done Tracey! I think I last saw 10st 10lb when I was about 20 :(

Thanks for the tip, catherinecherub. I'll give it a try. I don't normally count calories, but I can easily make small differences by varying the way I eat vegetables, and cutting down on the fat some days. I shall get a bit more active now that gardening weather is sneaking up on us, so that should help a bit, too.

Well done Tracey.

I'm back to 13st 4lbs AGAIN (gained the 3lbs this week that I lost last week)

Think I must be destined to never go below 13st

Either that or it's too much cheating

Hi - i just found this thread. Great idea!
I've stayed 11.5 stone for ages and it doesnt seem to want to shift. i lost a couple of stone a while back when i decided to starve myself to help my sugars. my sugars were great, i only ate about one apple a day.... and i went down to 9 stone! anyways... little by little i started gaining when i re-found my old eating habits and wham bam boom my weight suddenly protruded from under the carpet
it's stayed there ever since and gone up to 11.5 :( I'm not very tall so my target weight is 8st. but i doubt if i'll ever get there!!
i've just started low carbing, and definitely lost a few mm's (not m&m's  ) but no weight loss... yet......
anyway hopefully if i keep at it i'll be able to say  to the wobbles!!!

I reached 70 kg this week, which is my target weight and makes my BMI 24.9 - so I am officially normal :D . Now to just work out how to stop.
