ALL I got an email in my inbox saying "this is a request to change your password to diabetes.co.uk. If you did not request this, please ignore" or words to that effect. As I'd been out of the house 3 days in a row in Milton Keynes and I'd got no internet access as I'd lost my blackberry. That is all.
Arr, thats much clearer now, all this means is that someone tried and failed to log in as you, many people use things like pets names and then along comes the usual "Pets" Threads asking what pets people have and all and sundry post the names of their pets thus giving away their passwords
Marty, if I was you, just to be on the safe side I would change my password, just in case a successful attempt was made and they got it right, however unlikely that might be. All they could do if someone hacks your account is make posts in your name which although is annoying can do no real damage except perhaps upset a few people.
I doubt that the mods can do anything as they will not be able to see who has tried to access your account, possibly who ever is in charge of the data base might be able to but it will probably be too much trouble and effort, just change your password to be on the safe side
Never use pets names.
Never use birthdays.
Never use anything that can be connected to you.
Always try to mix letters and numbers.
Best to mix UPPER and lower case letters if allowable, ie Gl4sSB0tTLe Notice the a sustituted for a 4 and the o substituted to a 0 (zero) all you have to remember is glass bottle but you have mixed up upper and lower case and used letters and numbers.
Obviously dont use "Gl4sSB0tTLe"
ps. not trying to teach granny to such eggs here, but its worth posting for anyone who is not that security concious
