Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.0 this morning . I think someone put full fat coke in my vodka yesterday evening instead of skinny Coke . I shouldn't have had a reading like this, this morning after exercise and healthy food yesterday. My bg's have been good lately:smug:. Have a good day all! :D

Why the spikes? Recently diagnosed with T2 started on 16.2 5 weeks ago
Have dramatically changed diet and lifestyle, have lost 7 Kilos so far, some days eating very little to try and get a head start! Mornings seem to be always higher between 8 and 9
Anyway middle of last week down to lowest of 4.8 and 5.2 area pre eating..
Today up to 9.7! Before lunch today, anybody got an answer or advice?

@WexTom the highs tend to be a direct result of the liver stepping in providing an extra boost of glucose, it can be a number of things from skipping a meal out, post exercise I get this, when I go walking without having a snack before or during a walk, if your feeling under the weather with a cold or stressed in anyway your BGL can be elevated.

It could also be a reaction to something high carb eaten, some food carbs can spike 3+hrs after consumption.

Nuts, cheese, meat, pork scratchings or an egg. Small snack serving. Not sausage or anything in breadcrumbs. Give it a go. What bg are you at mo, before snack?

Bedtime and morning readings for the last week:

Wednesday - (23:25) 5.7 and 8.2 (05:40) snack
Thursday - (2310) 5.4 and 5.5 (07:00) snack
Friday - (22:35) 6.9 and 7.7 (06:05) no snack
Saturday - (22:35) 6.6 and 6.1 (08:00) no snack
Sunday - (22:05) 4.9 and 6.6 (07:00) snack
Monday - (21:40) 6.4 and 7.7 (06:00) snack
Tuesday - (23:00) 5.7 and 7.2 (05:50) snack

Snack was usually a couple of slices of maltloaf (GP's recommendation) and bedtime injections were either 7 or 8 units of Levemir.

Congratulations on your taking this head on and on your great results so far. I wouldn't worry about the spikes in the morning to much at all at this stage. Those middle of the day results are excellent and if you keep this up the Fasting results will come down

6.2 at 7.4am

My glucose levels are all pretty stable, though... My overall 3 months average is 6.6, and since our Diabetes UK converter gives me an HbA1c of 39.5 from this which would just take me below pre-diabetic range, so for what it's worth :D, I'm happy. But I'm due to see GP very soon, so will see what the real test has to say.

@david1968 those are still good results but if you change that maltloaf to a little handful of nuts or cheese cubes see what level you'll get. They should be lower than pre-snack. But only if not a carb. Give it a go. You should get rid of those 7s. Let me know how you get on.
If your bgs drop below 5 make sure to test before you drive to ensure higher than 5. This is when the liver dump is welcome.
If you experience too many 5s you could confirm with dn to reduce insulin but check with dn first.
