Type 2 Life

Good Morning, my lovely friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I am at Tate South Lambeth Public Library now. I read absolutely adorable comments from Ikihun, Debra Sue, Sable Jan and Diamum. I am going to go back to artificial sweeteners and when I make my Shopping List on Tuesday for Thursday exclude granulated sugar. My ADHD is the cause of this although I do realize I need to step out of the diagnosis and take proactive responsibility in accordance to the good, upright way I was raised by my Mum and Dad in Finchley, North London in the 1970's.

I had another slip by eating a Full English fried breakfast with carbs in the hash brown, chips and toasted white bread, but I realize to get my blood sugars back to the 4's, 5's and 6's I have to make some changes. I know I can do it and believe in myself implicitly as you lovely people all do. My friend Lee treated me to the brekky. Maybe bacon, egg, tomatoes cooked at home would have been better minus the Devil Carbs.

I feel well today and feel the ADHD is being much kinder to me.

Have a lovely day and splendid weekend. The Library isn't open tomorrow so I'll next be online on Monday 20th June, 2016 at 1:00 Post Meridian.

Yours faithfully,

John Baker
Sufferer of Asperger Syndrome, ADHD and Psychotic Depression.
Hi, Johnny!
"Devil Carbs" - that's funny!
I'm glad to hear your ADHD is being kinder to you - that's good news.
And it's good to hear that you and Lee are still enjoying breakfast together, but not so good to hear about the hash browns, chips and toast. That's quite a heavy load of carbs, Johnny, which is going to spike your blood sugar levels. If you'd just had ONE of those items it might not have been so bad, but all three is not good. :(
How about next time you leave out the carbs and have extra bacon and eggs instead? That would be a winner!
I hope you have a lovely weekend, Johnny.
Hugs

Everyone is different but I reduced mine to eventually 20g but had in increase back to 60-100g.
I have to watch my protein intake thou too.
This is my problem, I generally eat small amount carbs with 2 of my meals and past few weeks been eating more protein but noticed my averages increasing since eating more protein so confused, thought maybe carbs would have that effect but my averages gone up since eating more protein

Those vials which they attach to the needle is aided by suction, which can collapse your vein.
I had hormones and full diabetic blood test with my thyroid levels checked too. Half a syringe needed.
Yuk ...
I never look when they take my bloods

Evening all hope your all well, does anyone know what is the correct amount of carbs to eat each day? Thanks
Varies with the individual and whether you want to ultra low carb or eat to your meter ie just few enough carbs to keep your meter within range after meals.

There's no "right" answer to this. What is your aim with eating less carbs? Blood sugar control or weight loss (or both)?

I "eat to my meter" so try to eat as few carbs as possible. I hope that at some point I can reintroduce a small amount of some carbs, as that would make life easier, but I'm nowhere near that point yet and possibly never will be. If I eat more than a few carbs at each meal, then my bs reading goes up. So I eat carbs like tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower etc but never any rice, wheat, potatoes. It's working for me - Ive lost 2 stone since January. My HBA1C droped from 97 (January) to 49 (Late March). I'm due another HBA1C test later this month and hopefully it will have dropped further.

If my test results haven't dropped much, then I will look to cut out the carbs I currently eat although that will be very hard. I really don't want to take any medication though if I can avoid it.

Good morning Johnny, the breakfast sounded delicious. If your friend, very nice friend, treats you to breakfast again ask if you can have it served without the chips and toast and maybe could you have an extra egg and piece of bacon instead. ... If it's a serve yourself type breakfast think of us when you are reaching for those chips ...
Glad you are feeling well, have a lovely day

Hi Johnny, I bet it tasted lovely:)

Just try best as you can to resist those chips buddy:)

With those results you are clearly doing a great job:)

Looking forward to hearing your next A1C results:)

Morning! 6.5 FBG, I want to get back to the 5s but as @KevinPotts pointed out (thanks Kevin) a good measure after a meal out. Had a great Pork Belly, swapped out the chips for seasonal veg. Cheese for dessert but probably ate too man biscuits - then finished off the Oppo when we got home :)

Lovely day in London so off into the garden to plant the bedding plants and tidy things up. And started the day with LivLife bread - so all is good :):)

Evening, FBG at 7 am was 8.0 mmol/l, probably the strawberries and cream I ate during the football (naughty) lol. Going to start trying out the lower carb recipes in the food and nutrition forum. First going to do some baking. I actually enjoy cooking and my mum way back made meals from scratch like we all should do. Where's the gang lately like @liam1955, @13lizanne, @doolallylady and @debrasue ? You are missed on Type 2 Life.

Hello, chook!
That's nice, to think I was missed - although I was here a page or two back, which was only this morning, I think!
I've had 3 pretty busy days proofreading (gotta take work wherever I find it, nowadays), which is why I haven't been around much, but I'm on top of it now so I'll be bouncing around the forums again shortly!
Are you all better now?
Hugs xx

You're probably too young to know what I mean if I say you sound like a bit of a ***** in the kitchen...
Anyway, if you fancy doing a bit of "coookingge" why don't you give these a try:

Perfect for the footie, as they are very 'portable'!!
:)

Thanks, yes I am sort of fine now, watching Romania vs Albania. :)

@maureen5752 sometimes in situations like this you just have to exercise portion control or maybe you could take some pre made meals with you. Too much protein will also raise BS so it can be a bit tricky trying to get the balance right.

Thanks for the help , I did ask could I bring some food with me but she said that theirs a pizza & chip shop close by! She knows about diabetes cos she's seen me hypo & hyper, as we stay at each othere's house, she said. A few days eating out won't hurt you, see what happens just have to do best I can, we are travelling by train so taking meals won't be so easy. Have a good evening all
