What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today is (I think) Day 6 of Week 2 of the BSD - although it might not be because I have lost track a bit. My fault for not having started it on a Monday or on the 1st January.....

Mr C had to sleep on the sofa to keep the new dog quiet. Every time we both went upstairs he started crying. Every time we laugh he starts barking. He has completely trashed the raised flower beds in the garden. I am exhausted! Arghhhhh

So, today:

Breakfast: Scrambled Egg - my BG was 5.8 on fasting and 6.8 two hours after eating - so there was some DP :(

Lunch: Nothing

Dinner: Roast duck with a savoury cherry sauce, sprouting broccoli, asparagus and a small piece of roast parsnip.

Snack: Glass of red wine - possibly two glasses.... depends on how well the new dog behaves.

Well, after yesterday's celebration meal my bg was spot on, but it was still far too many carbs for me.
So I am currently wrestling the daemon carb cravings.

Today:
B: scram eggs, coffeesubstitute and cream.
L: a weird assortment of motorway services offerings. Cauli bhaji, lemon and coriander chicken breast, approx 10 g carbs in the form of half a small bag Kettles crisps. Water. Herb tea.
S: 2 squares 70% and another coffeesub
Dinner will be roast chicken (in the oven as i type), and i may just have the chicken. A lot of chicken. And skin. That'll splat the cravings. :D

B: experimentation with porridge made with full fat milk, some cream, cinnamon. Before 6.3 +2hrs 7.6. Figure I can get away with that once in a while.
L: was actually afternoon tea with friends. 1 plain scone with jam and cream. Didn't test!
D: Will be butter chicken (well, actually turkey as this is what I had in the freezer) with broccoli rice

FBG 4.7 Ketones 2.7

B. Full English, that's the last of the gorgeous smoked bacon brought back from the UK, sad!

D. Asparagus and butter
Pate de fois gras, large green salad with avocado, boiled egg and plenty of mayo.

2 glasses red wine.

11200 steps

Sunday was

L: Halloumi, bacon and salad
D: Slow roast Beef, kalettes, cabbage and a roast potato and parsnip washed down with a glass (2) of french carmenere

Hi everyone, I'm joining the low carb club as I'm so addicted to carbs it's not funny. I've been low carbing on and off for a few weeks but what with Christmas and after Christmas festivities I've gone completely off the rails and regained the 4kg I lost before Christmas. So was hoping if I posted on this thread it might help keep me on the straight and narrow. Desperately wanting/needing to lose some weight and of course, prevent the dreaded diabetes (high risk both types). Am working my way through the beginning of the thread and enjoying the menu's/recipes.

B: 1/2 Grapefruit & 1/2 Hard Boiled Egg
S: Other half of Hard Boiled Egg and a few Cherry Tomatoes
L: Roasted Red Pepper Soup and Cauliflower & Broccoli Cheese
S: Blueberries & Macadamia Nuts
D: Thai Stirfry w/Prawns & Salmon, Bok Choy, Red Pepper, Broccoli, Crushed Peanuts & Coconut Milk
S: Small Peach

3 x Peppermint Tea, 2 x Creamy Coffee & 1 x Tea w/Dash of diluted cream

BSD day 7 week 2

Breakfast: 1 egg
Lunch: Nothing
Dinner: A recipe called Lazy Chicken and Lentils. Chicken thighs marinated in lime juice, garlic, thyme and dried chilli flakes then fried to brown, then baked over green lentils with a little onion and stock. With it will be cauliflower rice and - maybe - some broccoli.
Snack: Low carb/cal jelly

The lentils will be interesting as I haven't had any since I started LCMF

Ha - family didn't realise they'd been fed low carb yesterday. Even commented on how they love my crumb dressing - double Ha. To be fair I did let them have pineapple upside down cake but the 60+ g of carbs was incentive enough to keep me away from it. 6.7 going to bed and 8.9 this morning - what's that about?? Anyway going to be following Diet Doctor recipes this week mostly.
B. Just enjoyed My Soufflé omelette with just the remains of the spiralised courgette in it and a couple of crispy rashers of streaky bacon. Black Tea.
I should add I did have a less sugar latte before I went off on the school/nursery run and I tested again when I got back 45 mins later before cooking breakfast and I was down to 8.2?? Maybe I'm wrong about the latte but will use sparingly for now.
L. Will be chilli salmon with wilted spinach
D. Diet Doctor hamburger patties with that gorgeous looking tomato sauce and steamed cabbage.

Let's see if that makes a difference.

I had lentil soup last week and it did push me up a bit but nowhere near what I had been experiencing.

S: kids chocolates x 10 choc coins (ooops!)

I think you and I have got the same DP problem. Mine was 5.1 just before going to bed last night and 6.8 this morning. I ate a boiled egg to stop it rising any more but was obviously too late because it had risen to 7.4 at 2 hours after breakfast. :(

A BabyBel cheese is a perfect little snack if you need one. They're perfectly portioned, to prevent cheese slippage, which we all know is just so perfectly likely to happen (on my planet anyway).

Today
B. Avocado and feta mash
L. Cauliflower cheese with Brussels and broccoli
D. Will be. An aubergine gratin followed by Greek yoghurt.

Defo a cheese day. Yum.

Getting great readings, so am reducing insulin by two units this evening.

Mine too. :(

I was obviously too late with food too as despite the drop to 8.2 with the latte I was back to 9.3 post breakfast and there was not a lot of carbs in it. It is dropping again but very slowly. I think I may have to keep a boiled egg handy for these mornings I am in a rush. I am on school runs most days and I have the boys a lot post school /nursery so it keeps me busy.

B: Bulletproof coffee
L: spicy chicken with spicy cauliflower and three miniature poppadums (work canteen did good today!)
D: liver, bacon and onions with cauliflower mash and greens

The Diet Doctor Chilli salmon (which was actually trout - well it looked like salmon) with spinach was delicious. Since it was almost zero carbs I sincerely hope my BG falls as it certainly shouldn't rise. Will report on results from my poor bruised fingertips later.
