Saturday
breakfast - porridge
lunch - none
snack - a really delicious big coffee with cream
dinner - shepherds pie made with garlic, tomato and mushrooms in the mince and topped with root veg. mash. sprinkled with cheese

We took Mr. G's mum's dog out for a good beach walk yesterday and found a new cafe to have coffee in, it was 'bean to cup' and was wonderful. We'll definitely be doing that again:joyful:

Lot to do today - family and friend feeding
B. 2 scrambled eggs and 2 rashers crispy bacon. Chestnut mushrooms and a Herta chicken sausage.
L. Nothing
D. Well ....I'll have spicy chicken wings with sour cream dip although Hubby has made an excellent pot of lentil soup. Beef strogañoff next made with fillet, onion, mushrooms, hot paprika, lemon juice, sour cream and fresh parsley. I'll have cauliflower rice and aubergine chips the rest are having straw chips (which Hubby is currently blanching) or a mushroom rice. Dessert I have pears poaching in wine, lemon cinnamon, cloves , xylitol and vanilla which will be served with low carb chocolate sponge and thick cream. Of course I will have a campari and soda and a wee prosecco.

Breakfast - crestless quiche

Lunch - tuna mayo with rocket, spinach & 6 baby plum tomatoes

Dinner - chicken leg with roast veggies (courgette, red pepper, onion). Added some apple cider vinegar to try and offset the sweetness of the veggies; not sure it worked, need to add more next time. This is the carbiest meal I can safely eat.

Sunday
breakfast - porridge with almond milk and ground flaxseed.
lunch/dinner - Roast beef with gravy made from the juices, 1 tiny roast potato as a treat, lashings of broccoli and a bit of cauli. MIL also did some carrots but they were the worst I've ever had, nothing to do with her cooking, they were really sweet and very 'woody' and chewy, really horrid! none of us could eat more than a couple of slices.
Pud was tiramisu for Mr G and his mum and coffee jelly pud with Alpro yoghurt for me.
snack - a little cube of cheese and a couple of silverskins.

Mr G is from a Scots family :happy:so he likes his porridge most mornings and I can manage a smallish bowl without it being too catastrophic for my bg.

I think I'll have a go at making something tiramisu flavourish but low carb and calorie, it used to be one of my favourites - I could do lower carb but I still have a lot of weight to shift :(

I like the flavour of tiramisu, so when you've worked out a recipe please share it. :)

Today wasn't going to be a fasting day but it has turned out to be one

Breakfast and lunch: nothing

Dinner: Diet Doctor Mummy Dogs (these are really nice if you are someone who used to like sausage rolls - I make them with normal Asda low carb chipolatas). Mr C wants his with baked beans but nowadays baked beans taste so sweet so I will be having mine with roast cheesey lemony broccoli

Peculiar day due to being up very early and then trying to stave off a late liver dump!

Corned beef quiche
5 olives and creamy coffee
1/4 Camembert
At about 2 hourly intervals since 2:30 ish
(Now got indigestion and feel stuffed to the gunnels but at least the BG rise has been stopped in its track So!)

May not bother with lunch

Lamb curry - leftover lamb mixed into a tin of Sainsbury Vegetable curry (1/2 tin = 10 g carb) plus cauli rice fried in butter. Not sure if enough fat so may follow it with some cheese.

OK, so I have to add a bit to the post above.

You see, I was Amazoning over the weekend, and I saw some kale crisps at 'ok' prices, and some seaweed thins... and I couldn't help myself (like the cat, curiosity will kill me one day).

So they arrived today, and I have just had a wee kale and seaweed orgy. The kale had curry spices and cashew in it. 200 cal, and I forget how many carbs, but very slow to digest carbs, whatever they are. And the seaweed has a whole 25 cals for 18 waffer thin wafers.

So I'm not feeling like I have binged on Pringles or anything, but it was an interesting experience.

The seaweed tasted of... well... um... seaweed. The beach at low tide. Mr B spat his waffer out. The wimp. I soldiered on, cos I wasn't going to join his wimpishness (and anyway, I paid good money for them). By about the 6th waffer, I was really getting into them. The crunch, the salty tang, memories of Cornish rock pooling during summer holidays.

The kale was nice. I would eat these all day, if I could justify the ridiculous expense. But once in a while... (watch me eat a pack every day til they are gone!). The use by date is November.

Embarking on a bit of an experiment this week. Low-carbing since January has reduced my HbA1c and helped me to lose some weight. However I suspect I've been having a bit too much protein and not enough fat (I'm not one for weighing and measuring, would rather use broad principles), so, in an effort to improve sugar levels further and lose more weight, I'm reducing protein and upping fat.

Breakfast - crustless quiche.

Lunch - salami and cheese (half portion compared to similar meals to date), salad.

Dinner - steak (cut steak in half to reduce portion size), broccoli, sprouts. Added butter to veg (have not been doing this to date). Dessert - 10 raspberries with double cream.

Initial reaction is that I am surprised how full I feel after reducing food quantities. Will report on progress across the week.
