People who think they know everything.
Breakfast: one fresh/unsmoked mackerel filled fried (but more fat came out of the mackerel than I cooked it in) plus coffee with double cream

Lunch: nothing

Dinner: chicken thighs baked with chorizo, courgette, aubergine, yellow and red peppers, garlic, olive oil, smoked paprika and oregano and 20 mins before the end I'll stir in some cauliflower rice. Very easy dinner.

Still stuck with morning highs.
You are not alone! It doesn't seem to matter what I do, or don't do. My FBG is the highest reading of the day. Snacking, or not in the evening makes not a ha'pence of difference.
Yesterday FBG 7.2, pre dinner 5.2, after dinner and before bed 4.8, and greeted with a 6.7 this morning. I might cut metformin from my diet, it doesn't seem to be making a contribution

@Brunneria @Chook @walnut_face

I have been having a mare the last couple of days. Yesterday I was roaming around low 8's most of the day and this morning was worse. Got up to 9.6 (which seems to have been a theme of the last few days ) but I hit 11.4 pre breakfast. How the heck is that possible? I have a very slight niggle in the throat still but overall I feel OK. I am stressed due to that flamin' woman playing with our lives to get independence as already the arguments have started. BG has edged down slowly today. Last time I looked I was at 6.8 but I've had nothing since breakfast and that's the first time in a couple of days I've got into the 6's and I have no idea what is going on. I'm going to have a prawn salad and if that puts my BG up again I swear I will scream! Rant over - better eat something before it gets too late and MFP gets annoyed with me for not eating enough again.

For dinner last night we had Thai coconut curry fish (Hake from SA) that we picked up from the frozen food section.

Very nice with vegies, and the curry had a nice bit of heat to it.

My addiction to carbs
OK, so I have to add a bit to the post above.

You see, I was Amazoning over the weekend, and I saw some kale crisps at 'ok' prices, and some seaweed thins... and I couldn't help myself (like the cat, curiosity will kill me one day).

So they arrived today, and I have just had a wee kale and seaweed orgy. The kale had curry spices and cashew in it. 200 cal, and I forget how many carbs, but very slow to digest carbs, whatever they are. And the seaweed has a whole 25 cals for 18 waffer thin wafers.

So I'm not feeling like I have binged on Pringles or anything, but it was an interesting experience.

The seaweed tasted of... well... um... seaweed. The beach at low tide. Mr B spat his waffer out. The wimp. I soldiered on, cos I wasn't going to join his wimpishness (and anyway, I paid good money for them). By about the 6th waffer, I was really getting into them. The crunch, the salty tang, memories of Cornish rock pooling during summer holidays.

The kale was nice. I would eat these all day, if I could justify the ridiculous expense. But once in a while... (watch me eat a pack every day til they are gone!). The use by date is November.
Have you tried making your own kale chips, @Brunneria? A bit fiddly but a fair bit cheaper than the 'bought' ones.

My addiction to carbs
So I've been AWOL lately as I've had a major falling off of the low carb wagon. I am feeling sooooo tired all the time ... not sure if my cortisol is low or my thyroid. Getting bloods done soon. So yesterday I had another major carb blowout and was horrified to see my bs was 10.4 at 1130 last night. It rarely goes above 8 after lots of carbs. Washed hands, retested, same. Woke up to 4.6, lower than usual. What does this mean - apart from the fact that I am stupid and only have myself to blame?

Oh yes, made kale crisps many times. :)
But it is ever so nice having them in a portable bag, rather than a huge great heavy kilner jar.

One day I will actually weigh mine before and after, and see what 'a 40g portion' is like before crisping... just curious, you understand. :)

@Goonergal which recipe do you use for your crust less quiche please? I'm making one tomorrow and it's kind of an adapted slimming world one.

Hi @mo53

I fry bacon (being lazy I use a couple of packs of lardons) and 1 medium onion and add to a large, pre-greased ceramic dish. I then beat 10 eggs with 300 mls double cream and pour over the bacon and onion and then add a bit of cheese. Top with thinly sliced tomato and bake until set. It's really filling and I get 5-7 portions out of that (keep a couple of larger portions for lunches, smaller ones for breakfast). Freezes really well too.
