No - it is not normal, but you have just started. With some plan and willingness I bet you can control your T2D with much better numbers. Contact @daisy1 for first instructions.

Edit:
We made a batch and used it for a Toad in the hole - good bg levels not to my taste; coating for squid and whitebait - bg good and liked lots;
Next experiment will be with low carb beer making a batter
