What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Ianpspurs thanks for those lovely insightful and supportive words- I massively appreciate people like you sharing their knowledge and when I know more I will help others too. I’m als very excited as I just tested after lunch and it’s my lowest 7.4 Thanks again for covering all my points

Please do not stop advising us. Thank you.
@Keesha Thanks for those kind words I feel a bit better about myself now was doubting just what I had learned! Just tested after 90 minute hike with dogs and 20 hours fasted - 5.4. Longer/harder walks usually raise my bg for some time so all good IF probably does work for me I just need to deal with the rise in bg to lunch.

Edit: Bg still 5.4 2 hrs after lunch so all good - IF probably not culprit effects of a cold most likely so don't let my weird fbgs put you off! Still need advice on rise where breakfast would be. Open to offers however bat *hit crazy!

Hello guys, I’d like to be a regular part of this thread pls. My mornings are bad and I’ve only been testing for 4 days now. It was 12.3 today. I’ve read beach a bit but can someone help me please? Will exercise lowered or raise my bg? Will stress raise it- what can I do about the stress at work? I will probably go on a lchf or something like it eventually. Is bg a thing that is instant or lowered over time? Thanks people x

what will help you is if you count the number of grams of carbs you eat in a day.. and try to stay under 150 grams in total in a day... this will mean that you need to learn how much carb is in each food you eat and also try to eat the kind of foods that contain only very little or even no carbs..
some kinds of cheese do not contain carbs and also meat is without carbs and eggs are also almost without carbs ... avocado and nuts and olives

vegs grown over ground also only contains very little carbs like tomatoes sellery cucumber ... the only vegs to avoid are really potatoes and corn..note that white bread is as bad as sugar and is best to totally avoid, you can buy Lidls protein rolls instead and eat instead of ordinary bread.. a lidl protein roll only contain around 9 grams of carb pro roll.. , keep asking in the forum, maybe create a thread of your own to ask the question you have.. look at the upper right corner of the page to find where to create your new threads in future.. good luck dear most can get normal levels if they stay under 150 grams of carbs in total or if neccesary go even 100 grams in total.. and dont eat all carbs in one meal level them out..

resistance training/ weight lifting and other exercise is very beneficial in getting ones insuline resistance down.. and also if done right after the meals like a long walk it helps lower blood glucose much

5.3 at 5.20 this morning. Lovely red sky over fields and way into the distance. FBG in some sort of order but it is still not keen on the new corporate rebranding. Other departments much more compliant but unable to dismiss team leaders of night time and and morning crews. Much better candidates available on these boards just not able to make free trade agreements with them. Must take back control!

Morning all. Yesterday’s action worked - a much more respectable round 5.0 this morning.

@ianpspurs about the rise where breakfast would be. I’ve always had a rise between my waking BG and the second reading of the day, whether that be pre breakfast or pre ‘where breakfast would be’. The third reading of the day (post breakfast or post where breakfast would have been) is then lower.

The rises have got smaller - and just occasionally there are drops - but since I introduced regular IF, overall levels have gone down and each individual reading has gradually declined, so I think it’s a long game.

@Goonergal Pleased to see your body has got with the program. Thanks for replying to my query re morning entrepreneurial bs levels. Some digging about suggests playing about with fasting lengths and sorting out cortisol and other establishment lackeys. As regards the long game, you must have me confused with someone else who has patience:angelic:
Have a good day

Seeing red here too and not just in the sky. The madam has excelled and I'm worried 8.6. Your team are doing extremely well

4.9 this morning. It must be the 500 x 3 per day dose of metformin working. However 2 hours after meals still fluctuate to higher numbers at times depending on carb intake. Will metformin never effect post meal numbers?
@SZB2357 Great fasting level. Re Metformin, I don't think that is how it works especially, more a long term helper than sudden impact is how I see it. Other people's views may be better informed.

@SZB2357 Presumptuous I know but looking at your location here goes. I see Metformin as a test match batsman - Ahzar now or Hanif from long ago - not a one day batsman - Afridi. Does that help?
Works a bit like Inzaman used to move!

@Glenmac A very thoughtful and sensible post so thank you very much. You are so right about different rates of progress. I also think there is a danger of "letting my diabetes define me" - doing things which I would have considered bat *hit crazy before diagnosis just because I have read or heard it helps lower bg levels for others. Common sense can go out the window in pursuit of ever lower numbers and rather than eating to my meter I may be guilty of living to my meter.
Well, it is Lent so some reflection and new life would be in order!
Don't over analyse too much, diabetes is unrelenting and unforgiving, you are just matching or exceeding this adversary, it will not rest, so while you are enthusiastic why not go for; there may be a time when you get diabetes fatigue, so strike while the iron is hot. Besides as a fellow Spurs fan you can do no wrong in my eyes.

@Mbaker Thanks for such encouraging and sensible words - confirms everything we both know about the intelligence and empathy of Spurs fans. Just a pity @Goonergal is so wise and generally a good egg - totally spoils all my preconceptions and baseless prejudices! Bah humbug

@SueJB Sorry to hear about anyone's worries and take care. The Madam seems to have been confused by Renaissance and renaissance - I blame Van Eyck.
I fear the Pre-Raphs and convex mirrors and Arnolfini sent her into a tizzy
