What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

4.6
Good morning all - the sun is shining but a bit of freshness still to the air which is just how I like it. Back home with mum who is all settled in! That long trip up to Yorkshire and back dosent get any easier though!Taking her out for a clothes shopping trip and lunch with my youngest who hasn’t seen his Nan for a few months should be a fun day. Hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

A very unwelcome 5.9 today. A less optimistic chap would be be looking at the evidence and feeling very sceptical about LC eating etc as nothing more than weight control. It would appear that an an urgent return to taking Metformin is in order as it seems that was at least having a slight effect. I could be a little off colour so I will wait a day or two but bg is the only marker not at the top of its game.
Ian - how are your average readings over the course of the day. 5.9 in isolation is equivalent Hba1C of 36 so normal. Personally I’m sticking with the Metformin for now albeit low dose. It’s not causing me any problems and is probably helping - would like to get off meds but playing the long game. Hope you find some reasons to be happier as the day progresses.

@rhubarb73 Thanks for kindness. Plenty of reasons to be cheerful ( Tm another Ian). New granddaughter arrived around 1.am and Nordic Walking tonight which will complete the course and give me a certificate to participate in various walks. The fbg is way off and has been rising over the past week/10 days. I am not testing rigorously atm as in a kind of off season but its all a bit off. Not likely to be talked round just need meter to show more normal numbers but appreciate concern.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and aliens living on the third rock from the sun.

An better than expected 9.2 this morning after going orf the rails last night.

Well folks I wonder what today has planned for us all, whatever have a good one, oh almost forgot to say back on the rails for me. I've had an enjoyable few days away.

5.8 today.

The sun is back out! I missed it having been spoilt all year so far.

Have a good day whatever you do. I'm working on our 1st September event in Birmingham all day. It's coming together nicely I'm very happy to say. Some fab recipes in and wonderful success stories.

This is joyful and hopefully will be triumphant!

Woke on 11.0 this morning but had a pre bed hypo if 2.7 due to too many units - 6 - for side portions of say paneer and mushroom bhajee for my evening meal and therefore jelly beans toast!

Apart from the negative impact on BG management, what annoys me is that they track the Hba1cs of those attending so we’ll all be bumping up the ‘success rate’ of the course.

Gosh I hadn’t thought of that, but yes, you’re right. I’m even more annoyed by it now.

Congratulations , the call of the grandchild is strong, better fuel up the car, blow up the tyres and plan your routes.

Morning all. Day off so up a bit later than normal with a very pleasing 4.2.

@Bubbsie @OrsonKartt @DJC3 @rhubarb73 - very similar experience with DESMOND here. Got brushed off during the ‘sugar cube’ exercise when asked how the number of sugar cubes in a small portion of white rice would affect eating. My suggestion to avoid it altogether didn’t go down well.

Well I feel cheated now Goonergal...we never did the sugar cubes...perhaps that was the afternoon session when I as absent (with consent) I hasten to add...it really was the most awful course I have ever been to...a complete lack of understanding of how Type 2 can be managed...no alternative views explored...the 'eat well' plate reinforced...no testing...judgement of how we came to be diagnosed (self inflicted was the inference I took from that)...I laughed out loud at the sugar cube avoidance advise...seems appropriate & exceptionally good advice to me;).

This makes me so sad...
It is sad Orson.. it's bloody tragic watching her condition just deteriorate so rapidly...she was given little or no/bad advice from her HCP's...she accepted that & has got to a point where she feels she will not be able to make any improvement...I tried to offer some gentle advice/encouragement however all that produced was resentment from her...she now refers to me as 'The Diabetes Police'...I have no idea whether she will try for any small adjustments which might be of benefit...we no longer discuss her diabetes.

@alf_Josiah Currently looking after grandson while his mum recovers from C section last Thursday. Southampton arrival will have to wait a couple of weeks. Other grandparents have come over from France and both are retired GPs so deep wallets and plenty of advice. Thanks for the congratulations.
Re DESMOND or any other course. None ever offered to me and I have now seen 3 different DNs who seem to think what I have done is out of the ordinary and are horrified when I say it doesn't satisfy me one bit just yet. If the advice NHS gives out is as you guys say I can see why even my pathetic improvement must be abnormal for them.
