Evening all. I started to post earlier then realised I was missing GBBO so had to postpone.
@jayney27 and @Tori71 impressive baking days!
@Goonergal Glad your tum has recovered and it hasn’t put you off CCBs

B: DD Breakfast sandwich with emmental and wafer this smoked ham.
L: DD spicy pork and kale soup, made with leftover pulled pork from Sunday. It was really nice but bg 6.6 afterwards. Higher than I’d like for a low carb meal.
D: DD chicken casserole with a green salad

@ianpspurs its interesting that Mrs P had high bg with your new pot of strips - must have given you both a shock when you saw it. Are you ditching that pot now?
I’ve had homemade soup 3 days running and all of them have had negligible impact so I’m pleased, I do feel for you though as you seem to be struggling with with your BG at the moment, I hope you find a way through this :) the baking was a spur of the mo thing, I had the ingredients for the carrot cake as I wanted to make it after having a slice of the real thing while on holiday, it’s lovely, the soup was because I bought a pumpkin on Saturday, had full intentions of carving a lantern for tomorrow but then couldn’t be bothered so just chopped it up. The soup tastes lovely, never had it before.

Pot stays as if I have higher numbers in spreadsheet it might bring my numbers and hba1c closer and or if I have readings where I think they should be it will tell me something - I just won't know what:banghead:

Good point. Do you use MySugr to estimate your Hba1c or do you just take your own average from your spreadsheet and convert it?

We were meant to be carving pumpkins tonight but couldn’t get one anywhere today - all sold out. Other years there have been loads around.

There were lots at my local Tesco yesterday they were selling them 2 for £3 to get rid of them I think, I picked my own at a pumpkin farm on Saturday, or rather my grandson picked it for me, the soup will be all the more special because of that

No conversion just straight comparison with spreadsheet - over the 6 periods so far about .2 in it overall. I looked at Mysugr and from the numbers input the estimate was clearly ludicrously low so I didn't continue using it.

He was we had a Wheelbarrow full so we needed to cull them before we went to pay lol his little sister was dressed as a witch for the day, they loved running around picking up pumpkins.

Love the picture of your grandson - reminds me of ours. We usually grow some and he loves seeing them get bigger. Didn't do that this year but he lives in an area with 2 big USAF bases so Halloween and Pumpkins are a big deal.

He loves it, his Dad takes him to do trick or treat to a few of the houses in the road where he lives, he gets quite excited about it all.

12pm Today was liver pate on crispy bacon strips (that will never get old!)
7pm my lamb heart/liver/kidney/mince stew, with morrocan spices. Very enjoyable, once i had seasoned it enough, which took a while.

Am considering some goatsmilk yog, too. But will wait an hour.

Had a very busy weekend, and ate rather irregularly, but sleep was good, energy levels great, and I got a tremendous amount done. Very pleased. This newfound paleo/keto/carni stamina is wonderful. Such a pity I didn’t discover this years ago - unless it is purely because my digestive tract is now actually absorbing the nutrients properly?

@Pipp your ankle swelling comment suggests a food intolerance to me. May have suggested this to you before, I think. I suggest you look at what you have been eating recently, and (once you have had a week or two off all those foods) reintroduce them one at a time to ID the culprit(s).

You have indeed given me some insight before, which I really appreciate, and I am sorry to have been slow to respond and keep you informed of what I have been finding about my own difficulties. These experiments take ages, and of course, changing more than one variable at a time only throws out some confounding possibilities. I really am hoping my intolerance is to excess calorie intake for my needs;). In all seriousness though I have my suspicions about eggs, as I have eaten more of them since increasing fat in my diet around 8 weeks ago.I am really hoping it is not cheese! I have given up so much from my diet that cheese would be the last (cheese) straw. Currently giving my body a rest from excess of calories to see if things settle.

I’m using MySugr but like you found it has given much lower results than the lab test on each occasion. I assume I’m simply not recording enough, or maybe I have big peaks I’m just not aware of, who knows. I know others have found it pretty accurate. I’ve kept up with it just to be aware of trends really.

My HbA1c is always higher than my averages. There are quite a few threads about it - for some people the inaccuracies (whether high or low) reflect other issues such as haemocrit levels or anaemia. Bluetit1802 discovered that different labs use different processes which result in different outcomes (her GP ran both on the same blood sample).

For me it’s the regular testing that’s important - it’s easy to spot trends up or down with specific readings and so long as they’re firmly in the non-diabetic range will guide me far more than the HbA1c as they tell me how I’m responding to food and other stimuli: some of which I can do something about and some of which I can’t.

Agree with that. In my case my MCV was the only reading above recommended range. My research suggests a potential issue, frequently related to use of Naproxen, which can lead to higher hba1c readings. I requested another full blood count and MCV was still higher so I am content that I have an explanation and have moderated Naproxen use - hence my pursuit of surgical solutions to back.
Edit: It also accounts for my disquiet at a reasonable last hba1c - which was a fair way from my daily readings (actually it needed transport to get there)

Blimey. As a T2 the only thing from your menu is the sausage, providing it has a high meat content. I miss my apples.

Afternoon, another evening in anticipation of 'The Apprentice':mad:. Much shouting at TV about to happen.

Breakfast-Hi-lo toast and butter
Mid morning - Coffee and small biscuit in cafe with sister. I have eaten about three pre decimal biscuits since I was diagnosed!
Lunch - Bacon strips, left-over roast chicken, cucumber, sour cream and chive dip. Lack of french stick (now known as white death in our house) meant I used the chicken in the dip. It was delicious and disgusting in equal measures! Strawberries and cream.
Dinner - Not very hungry so probably more chicken and dip! Home made chocolate mousse a la @Brunneria recipe from the booklet. Can't believe how quick it was to make, going to add some orange essence next time:smug:
Snacks - Smoked almonds

Failed to wear new jumper today....too warm. bah!

I’m thinking I might have to. The thought is making me glum, do you think a week will be enough?
I find it makes a difference with me then I just mix it up a bit. Depends how I feel. Don't like missing breakfast though. When I did the 2 week DD I had to remove lunch as it was just too much food.
