What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I do need steroids from time to time. Usually the effect on BG and weight gain settles a few weeks after taking them. It has been a few months since I last needed them. I was seeing double figures for a while, and at least that has stopped. I am not liking the 8s fasting levels though. I probably am getting impatient because another HbA1c is due in a month, and I have realy been working at getting back to decent levels.
You are right about the unpredictability of it all. I thought I had cracked it having managed to gain good control since 2011, but nothing remains the same, and this is just a reminder for me to remain vigilant, and keep on searching, being aware that there is more than one way to skin this particular cat. Just have to find the best way for my current circumstances. I hazaed a guess that I need to drop weight considerably.
I hope you can work out your reasons for change in BG levels, @DJC3. I do think eating to the meter needs to continue, though. At least until levels settle back when it seems to me that it is ok to drop some of the testing.
If it's any consolation I still get DPs going into the 8's when something upsets my BGs be it illness, stress or tiredness. Perfect example is now. FBG is OK but it's still rising to around 8.1 before it starts the downturn but at least that's better than the last few weeks. I know it was all down to drinking when I don't normally (particularly Bailey's!), tiredness and the upset with my sister's illness and death. I suppose it does help when you can identify the root of the problem. I just accept it now as I know it will sort itself out again eventually.

Evening everyone. My symapthies to @Goonergal and @ianpspurs for heating and boiler issues . Glad the cakes went down well though Goonergal.

@jayney27 the first day back to work is grim, glad its over - wine well deserved.
@shelley262 sounds like you earned your wine today too. Are you off to see your mum?

Didn’t have breakfast til 10ish today - waiting for daughter who had a late start but a long day ahead of her. Bgs high by then and never really recovered.
Had bacon and spinach frittata. Coffee and cream.

L: Rottiserie chicken wing and drumstick with green salad and a bucket of h/ m mayo.

D: DD meat pie. The pastry worked really well, it was like play doh initially and had to be smooshed into place but then held it’s shape well. Decaf coffee and cream. Most of the pie was eaten before I thought of taking a picture but here’s the last slice-

OK - how pastry like was the pastry? It's one thing I'd love to solve. I've tried a few and although some are acceptable it's not pastry. Looks good though.

Bed 5.9 FBG 6.4 yesterday. Boys decided they were eating at ours as we had stew! Will be back to swimming next week was the pool issues are resolved.
B. Thanks @DJC3 - I'd forgotten about the DD breakfast sandwich and how tasty it is. So DD breakfast sandwich with ham , mustard, drop of hot sauce and used Morrisons 4 cheese grated. Tassimo Americano grande with a dash of cream.
L. Nothing
D. Stew! Still had loads of it with celeriac mash and steamed sprouts. Last of The Breyer's cookies and cream with 4 strawberries.

Breakfast - Hi lo toast with butter
(Random)Lunch - bacon crisps (not crisps!! crispy bacon), olives, pate and cucumber. Strawberries and cream
Dinner - Roast chicken, carrots, cauliflower cheese, one small yorkshire pud, homemade gravy
Snacks - Two squares of green and blacks, smoked almonds, S & V peanuts

Mega cooking day today. On top of chicken dinner made low(ish) carb cranberry sauce to freeze for Christmas, several portions of home-made gravy, mother in laws mushroom and leek sauce (also to freeze), husbands lunch for tomorrow and a chocolate pud.Seem to have been transported back to the '50's, just need waist tie apron for full effect.:hilarious:Managed to find a snuggly lilac jumper in Morrisons for a reasonable £10! Met office says it's going to warm up doh!:banghead:

Happy Tuesday guys:happy:

It held the pie together well, it wasn’t exactly like shortcrust, It was slightly sweet because of the bit of coconut flour in it. It worked quite well with the filling which was very rich, a blander filling might have been overwhelmed.
It stayed crisp though - not a soggy bottom in sight.

Hi everyone another lovely dry and bright day here but chilly.
Coffee with cream and a cheese omelette for breakfast
Lunch was the homemade sweet potato and celeriac soup with some salami crisps, it was lovely, I added coconut cream to when I blended, nice and smooth
Afternoon snack was a small pack of pork scratchings
On drive home I had half of a PhD smart bar

In from work I made a batch of low carb carrot cakes, they smell lovely, still cooling, deciding whether or not to make the cream cheese frosting or not? Pumpkin soup is cooking for lunch tomorrow

Dinner chicken curry with cauliflower rice

Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood would be proud of you.

Hi all.

Quite hungry today after skipping dinner last night.

Ate breakfast - M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos.

Lunch was smoked salmon and cream cheese.

Dinner was brined chicken leg.

And despite digestive issues succumbed to more pieces of CCB lurking in the office (just can’t be trusted around them) = more digestive issues. :meh:

@Pipp hope your diet change is successful.

@DJC3 sorry about your BG issues - agree with @maglil55 s IF advice.

Some very pleasing elements to the day and some proper head scratchers. Pleasingly, swimming was best yet - 15 months in - boiler issue was actually washing machine fluff and boiler worked exactly as planned - (long story re condensing boilers); Decathlon do free click and collect; relative acquired Orange Pekoe (Broken) - all good. New strips gave odd readings so tested on Julie who is apparently very diabetic but at the doctors was very definitely not:arghh:
Menu:

Breakfast: Lots of tea - standard issue 3 pints then swimming for old farts
Dockey : Flat white after swimming then tea on homecoming
Lunch : 1 Avocado; 1 tin mackerel in olive oil ; spring onions; celery; - then 70 min walk
Mid Afternoon: Tea; CCB
Evening meal: Mushroom and Gruyere eggs en cocotte
Edited To remove inaccurate date of Julie's test

Evenin’ All! :D

12pm Today was liver pate on crispy bacon strips (that will never get old!)
7pm my lamb heart/liver/kidney/mince stew, with morrocan spices. Very enjoyable, once i had seasoned it enough, which took a while.

Am considering some goatsmilk yog, too. But will wait an hour.

Had a very busy weekend, and ate rather irregularly, but sleep was good, energy levels great, and I got a tremendous amount done. Very pleased. This newfound paleo/keto/carni stamina is wonderful. Such a pity I didn’t discover this years ago - unless it is purely because my digestive tract is now actually absorbing the nutrients properly?

@Pipp your ankle swelling comment suggests a food intolerance to me. May have suggested this to you before, I think. I suggest you look at what you have been eating recently, and (once you have had a week or two off all those foods) reintroduce them one at a time to ID the culprit(s).

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: left over cauliflower and brocolli cheese and peas followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: peach chia pudding and a black coffee.
Dinner: gammon steak, fried egg and celeriac chips followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

Evening all. I started to post earlier then realised I was missing GBBO so had to postpone.
@jayney27 and @Tori71 impressive baking days!
@Goonergal Glad your tum has recovered and it hasn’t put you off CCBs

B: DD Breakfast sandwich with emmental and wafer this smoked ham.
L: DD spicy pork and kale soup, made with leftover pulled pork from Sunday. It was really nice but bg 6.6 afterwards. Higher than I’d like for a low carb meal.
D: DD chicken casserole with a green salad

@ianpspurs its interesting that Mrs P had high bg with your new pot of strips - must have given you both a shock when you saw it. Are you ditching that pot now?

Pot stays as if I have higher numbers in spreadsheet it might bring my numbers and hba1c closer and or if I have readings where I think they should be it will tell me something - I just won't know what:banghead:
