Good morning to all the larks this is def a first for me being the first and not likely to be regular event well hope not! I crashed earlyish yesterday and woke early can’t get back so may as well start to do list once have had a few cups of tea in bed.
4.4 bg this am
Busy day ahead at mums and then back home hopefully around teatime.
Have a good day all
@Debandez good luckwith your radio appearance bet it goes well well done you are a ball of energy and enthusiasm

Done! Got all my.plugs in ;-) was quite painless. It's no BBC studio, just a small room but every little helps. Early start for you @shelley262 but you will fit so much in!!!

6.2 up a bit, maybe because I was being interviewed on local radio station. Fylde coast radio. I was nervous but had no need to be. A fellow diabetic does a slot on a Wednesday morning and invited me in for a half hour chat. I had made notes in case I froze! First radio slot!!! So it flowed nicely. Got everything in I wanted to. Feel happy. It's a very small local station, fylde coast radio, and I'm not even sure if it has listeners!!! But hubby listened today :) it had at least one!!! He recorded it but it's 26 minutes long and file won't send to me for me to share. Will work out a way!

DESMOND course yesterday was just as I anticipated. Nothing changed. I went with my newly diagnosed special needs B.I.L. who did get quite a lot out of it. The visuals are good. Teaching how to make better choices. Portion control. They did mention carbs a lot but sadly said we needed them for energy. I spoke up a few times but they just kept throwing 'science hasn't proved that yet' and I wasn't going to rain on their parade or anyone else's in the room. 8 diabetics all a bit lost on their journeys. One man on insulin plus a weekly injection (can't remember what it was but only 3 letters) he is putting on weight and did ask of it could be due to insulin. And BS still not controlled. I'm not surprised. 2 crumpets and porridge for breaky!!!. Another lady who has been told insulin is next step as nothing working. She has 2 slices of bread in the morning with special honey for arthritis which apparently helps her so she wont drop that. Another youngish man had had a heart attack! And an elderly gent who could hardly move even with zimmer had got over cancer, heart attack, now struggling with diabetes, he loves steak puddings and must have mentioned them 3 times in the space of an afternoon.

Low fat was encouraged. Keep away from animal fats as much as possible they said.

They all got butties out (One had crisps) and one newbie had ordered a jacket potato for lunch. She asked whether the tingling in her hands and feet could be diabetes related. The ladies said it could be. After lunch she was shaking her hand saying it was tingling badly. I was wondering if that baked potato could have had that effect so soon (about 1 hour after eating).

Nobody knew their HbA1c!!! Apart from me and BIL. The ladies did say this was a massive problem. GPs don't give them out often.

I did get a slot to tell my story. Sang DCUK praises. LCHF woe worked for me in controlling blood sugars. I have my libre sensor fitted so told them how important i felt testing was in controlling the disease but they gave the usual speil. Not encouraged as people get obsessed. I replied saying I thought it was purely a financial cut back as I felt it was the only way to gain control. I gave a demo of my libre and everyone including the coordinators were amazed.

I'm not too amazed by it this morning giving me reading of 6.2 lol. Double checked with my monitor. 6.4!!!! Probably the old nerves kicking in.

Happy hump day folks. I'm clearing out a shed of complete rubbish. 4 tons of top soil getting laid tomorrow and shed needs to come down. Hope the rain holds off!!!

Was looking forward to that post, thanks for taking the time to write it, @Debandez

All sounds very familiar though, sadly.

But the waves don't wear down the cliff face in a day. .:)

Good morning everyone.

I have done something grim to my back. Suffered most of the night and am now trying to pull myself together to go to an appointment. FBG this morning was 8.0 but as I had been gnashing my teeth in pain most of the night, I am not overly surprised. Can't get in to see my doctor until tomorrow morning, so am slapping on the ice packs and taking painkillers. I am also obeying watch instructions about walking around, don't want this to seize me up.

My woes aside, well done @Debandez for starting the fightback at the DESMOND course. I remember the one I went to when first diagnosed. It was all the usual rubbish about low fat and loads of carbs. I am so glad you are putting an alternative point of view. Keep up the fight, it is going to take time to change the medical establishment's mind about LCHF.

Hope everyone else is having a great day.

Desmond it seems doesn't like change!!!

Sorry to hear about your back. I've had back pain myself and it hurts!!!! Get well soon.

Congratulations!! That's a lovely number to see after all your struggles. You will be seeing a lot more of them soon.
Thank you.

I know it’s still too high but after 3 months of being double figures, any single digit is appreciated!! :)

Still slightly concerning they shot up to 15 yesterday but at least they didn’t stay that high!

5.8 this morning. Finally, after 4 days of rain and fog, the sun is out again, bringing a nice wintry 4 degrees (up a couple already in the past hour). Once we hit about 10-12 this afternoon I will be walking to the store for cat food.

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

You are so right. We will get there. I feel our voices getting louder. The wisdom of the crowds will win in the end!!!

I've not had chance to participate much on the forum since Christmas. Although i am readong just not able to comment much. Sorting my BIL out with massive changes in his life including his t2d diagnosis. It's been challenging trying to get through red tape. Then when you finally get through it after you find the biggest pair of shears to do the job the people who said they could help actually haven't got a clue due to recent changes to procedures aaaahhhhhhhgggghhhhh. Getting there. On a lighter note his pre meal bloods have come down from 18, to 16, to 13 and now to 12. So I'm happy with that. He is feeling happier in himself.

Your posts are fab. Really great reads. Funny too. Keep em coming.

Good morning, @shelley262 . Night owl here; it's just struck midnight (well, not really "struck") and the KittenCat and I are heading for bed.

Enjoy your tea, both this morning and later at tea time!

@Debandez good luck with the radio appearance!

Thank you. All went well. Trying To get a link to add to forum but not successful .....yet!

Good morning @SaskiaKC and @shelley262

Regular slot for me - have already reorganised my entire collection of jumpers (no mean feat) in recognition of the slightly warmer temperatures - hope I’m not tempting fate!

FBG was 4.2 today.

I know what a jumper is, but this is what I was picturing you doing -- :)

Hi all,

4.4 for me on the second day of our snowstorm.

Although I don't enjoy shovelling, it's good exercise. The same cannot be said for chipping ice off car windshields which is a miserable job. It took my neighbour over an hour to get his truck out of his driveway - I wanted to tell him it's much easier to shovel first and move your vehicle after. He certainly illustrated the expression "spinning your wheels". I think he's new to living in a house, he doesn't follow the garbage rules either (yes we have rules here about what goes in garbage, what goes in recycling and what goes in organic recycling and fines if you disregard them.)

@Debandez you are very kind to help your brother-in-law and I'm glad he's doing better. I know what you mean about red tape - unless you've experienced it, most people don't know how bureaucracy unnecessarily complicates the lives of people with disabilities. (My late son was severely disabled and that made it so much harder than necessary). Tomorrow I have another meeting in a series about my best friend's son - she has 2 adult sons with autism, both also intellectually disabled. The son who is very severely disabled and nonverbal (like my late son) lives in a group home but her more moderately disabled son still lives at home and attends day programs (unable to work) . These meetings are planning with the government so he can get a good residential placement when they can no longer care for him (she has many health issues and is older).

4.3 this morning. I think I'm doing OK but am very new to this! Love reading everyone's comments on here and I've leaned more from this community in a short time than I have from my surgery (who told me to base every meal around 'a healthy portion of carbs').

Well havent had time to read/post all day but inspired by @Goonergal I too have sorted out my jumpers and it was very satisfying. I have a large pile for the charity shop (too big, too boring) and a small pile for the tip which are full of holes from moths. Mind you I have had them since the Ark!! I highly recommend it as a way to fill an hour or two.
