I didn’t think they’d be too bothered re the holiday as it’s my own responsibility and fault so I can’t really expect them to fit around it.
its not a matter of them fitting round it. You have several dates to pick from everyone has that option.I didn’t think they’d be too bothered re the holiday as it’s my own responsibility and fault so I can’t really expect them to fit around it.

I wanted to just take the points but dh said no because of the increase in insurance - although I don’t think it would make much difference.
However losing £2,500 on our holiday wouldn’t be great either.
I haven’t got any ketone strips. Bloods sitting around 25 now.
Please call 111 for advice. You're at real risk of DKA here.I haven’t got any ketone strips. Bloods sitting around 25 now.
im a total loser of an idiot and got a speeding ticket (first in 20 years) on Monday for 35 in a 30.
I’m doing the awareness course but I’m so stressed about it and I cannot get my sugars down. My sugars always respond badly to stress. My worry is it could be weeks before the course and I’m not able to eat anything. My basals are all up but I’m still sat between 12-15 all the time. I’m super stressed that we are booked to go on holiday and that the course might be then - costing us several hundred quid to cancel let alone the disappointment of my kids because their mother is a dimwit. Also I don’t think you can eat or drink in these courses? So if I go low (I won’t be - I will be super high and thirsty) I can’t treat it?
And yes I know it’s my own fault and I deserve it and to feel like this before anyone points it out! But any suggestions other than don’t speed and keep upping the insulin?
@ExtremelyW0rried there has been plenty said about the speeding course.
What have you done to get your BG lower?
Are you taking corrective bolus doses?
Have you increased your basal dose?
Are you aware we become insulin resistant when our BG gets high so need more insulin to bring it down?
I know, for me, a high BG makes me stressed and extra stress makes my BG rise more which can lead to a vicious spiral of stress and high BG. With this in mind, I try not to panic and keep at it with extra BG and frequent testing,
As others have said, starving yourself is not going to help.
Perhaps you can eat something very low carb such as an omelette to help you get out of that spiral.
My sugars have been ok overnight again - around 6, although they are rising again now so eating will be unmanageable.
I found some urine ketone strips and ketones are +++ on those although I know they aren’t hugely reliable as they aren’t real time.
I don’t feel sick at the moment though so I’m just drinking plenty and will keep an eye on it.
I got my course letter and have booked a course for three weeks time (before we go away) so only another three weeks of this and hopefully things will calm down again afterwards. At least it won’t mean my children are disappointed and we won’t lose all the money we’ve paid.
I really appreciate everyone being kind, I don’t deserve it, if I’d killed your child while speeding you probably wouldn’t be as sympathetic.
