This is fine keep it there and maybe not take your metformin as long as you are strict, metformin does not cause dangerously low hypos but there is no need for metformin when you are that low 4.3 is not dangerous , under 4 is unpleasant to many

Thank you! I have not seen 4.3 since I was diagnosed so it made me panic a little. I am being really strict, at least for a few weeks. But I can see me having the talk with my new doctor at Easter...my Hba1c is going to be high as previous to the last 2 weeks I have been so bad. I am evidencing like mad with by app lol

Good morning folks. Well I made it to the end of another week so am impressed with my choices this week - no disasters and no black dog.
A sparkling and very attractive 5.2 on the wheel of tantalisation, hints, and raspberries at 0745.
@PenguinMum - take it easy. Thai food in a restaurant can easily contain ingredients that may not be good for you. I have a Thai daughter in law - we don’t eat out in Thai restaurants unless she gives the all clear.
@dogslife - hope things are improving for you.
Have a great day if you can, investigate nutritional values in the “food from around the world” isle of your local supermarket if you can’t.

over selling.... oh so many things are enthusiastically oversold
Hi everyone, I've been T2 for 18 months now and not particularly well controlled due to huge stresses and comfort eating. Decided to get a grip and went keto on Sunday, as I've moved house a fortnight ago and am struggling to find time to get registered with my new doc and all the rigmarole required (teacher here).

Having just 2 weeks of metformin left and 4 weeks to school holidays I've been amazed how fast my bg has dropped. By tues I had readings 5.5 /5.3 all day, but these are still dropping. Last night both before and 2 hrs after food I got 4.3(!!!) and so I didnt take any metformin. Now my concern is is that too low? I didn't feel great, but I know in the first couple of weeks keto I might not.

Any advice? Am I at risk of hypo on low carb?
From everything I've read no, or at least , very very very very unlikely is the answer. ...When I first started low carbing and realised how I could drastically affect my sugar levels downward I took it to a stage where I fasted and did heavy work outs all day just to see how low I could go. I got to 3.8 . Only did it once -just to experience it . I am not on any medication and if you are this most likely will be different .

5.5 this morning, an hour or so after that 17.6 and loads of water drunk plus a walk round the block was down to 8.8 then at bed time it was 4.8 sometimes diabetes is just crazy. Will be more careful though from now on.

As a foot note @Dawnmc71 4.3 is not hypo so should be OK and as a rule T2's on met only don't get hypos but 3.9 and below is medically hypo and a doctor would actually diagnose that as hypoglycemia though lots of people feel fine at that level I personally don't and though on metformin only I have still gone as low as 2.2 so with this insidious illness all things seem at times possible.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.
This could be a short post strange awake noises are come from Mrs J's pit / lair, I have to be at the ready on kettle duty.

A 5.8 slid out from the meter and hid behind the koffy mug, I didn't find the reading till I had made my koffy.

Well folks have a great day, we are eating at friends tonight it could be very bad so I shall probably eat selectively and put myself on driving duty.

Thanks @trick60 what a lovely thing to say.
Thanks for good wishes from @ianpspurs @philchap1 @dunelm @DJC3 .
I think I need to increase my digestive enzymes so my pancreas not dealing well with the fat aspect but my FBG was surprisingly ok. Nothing compared to someones thread I read o/n where he and several responders are managing D with ulcerative colitis or Chrons.
@jjraak great travel report. Theres a rumour here that Auntie Pengie is organising a busload to go and try the famous Goan Diet. Best hide now.

Hi @Shas3 and welcome to our little community on the friendliest thread. Did you test at the start of lunch also. While anything over 8 is too high its the difference between start and 2 hours later that is important. It takes a while to build up a bank of safe meals but you will get there if you want. All best wishes.

Have you ever suffered from Armpit Surprise?

This is really funny, @SaskiaKC. When I was younger, we had a dog and I definitely do remember him doing this. Generally though he was a bad eater unless in competition with the cat.

The cat is a bit more restrained. When we eat, she just sits close to us looking at the food -- it doesn't really matter what we eat, she demands to at least to have a smell to see if it is worthwhile. If we ignore her, she softly nudges us, touching us on the arm or the leg with her paw. Definitely a clear communicator, I have to admit.

Hi there folks. Got my HbA1c results today. 56 mmo/mol which is better than last year's 61, which was an improvement on 92 three months' beforehand. Cholesterol down to 5.0, weight down but blood pressure up, well above 140/90. Will start monitoring that as well as BG.

This diabetes condition is definitely a long game. 4 weeks of being "good" (LCHF) haven't moved the metrics that much. Guess I need to focus on 4 months, then 4 years.

Good morning all. Had a wonderful night out, involved some great food, albeit small portions, and some red wine. (Blood sugars stayed below 5.3 at all times.) It did get a bit chilly later on, but overall a grand evening.

Fbg was 4.8 this morning.

@Dawnmc71, @Shas3 and @Veronica Wright -- Welcome to thread. Great that you have decided to join.
@Dawnmc71 -- 4.3 isn't really too low, but might feel uncomfortable if you are not yet used to lots of readings in the fours. In a few weeks, you probably won't even notice a reading in this range any more. Agree with others that on metformin alone, you are unlikely to experience any real hypos. When you have your appointment, you might also want to bring along your meter, so that your GP can see the impact your recent dietary changes have had on your blood sugar levels.
@PenguinMum -- Hugs that such a wonderful evening was followed by an uncomfortable night with a tummy ache. Hope you feel better now.
@Goacher55 -- Hope your cold gets better soon.
@jjraak -- Sounds as if you are having a ball in Goa. Glad you are enjoying your vacation. Keep the reports coming. I'm enjoying them.
@JohnEGreen -- Hugs for the high blood sugars following the meal, but also impressed by how well your body did in bringing them down quickly.
@dogslife -- Sorry to read about your back pain, stress and disappointment with the last blood test. Constant pain and stress can definitely impact your readings. Maybe you can ask for another three months to try to bring your levels down? I am not sure if I remember, but did you ever have a C-peptide test? If insulin levels are in the normal range, it should be possible to bring readings down once your back is less painful and stress subsides.

Have a great weekend, folks.
