Hi there folks. Got my HbA1c results today. 56 mmo/mol which is better than last year's 61, which was an improvement on 92 three months' beforehand. Cholesterol down to 5.0, weight down but blood pressure up, well above 140/90. Will start monitoring that as well as BG.

This diabetes condition is definitely a long game. 4 weeks of being "good" (LCHF) haven't moved the metrics that much. Guess I need to focus on 4 months, then 4 years.
Where will I be this time tomorrow
Jump in joy or sinking in sorrow
Anyway I should be doing all right
Doing all right
Takeaway from those results compared to 15? months ago is very positive. You are a prime example of exceeding doing all right. Stay strong

Had a bit of an uncharacteristic blowout last night with movies and Xbox. Far too much protein all day, far too much coffee far too late, far too much snacking, also far too late, and including far too many nuts. Basically all the wrong things. Thought my meter was going to slap me across the chops this morning with an elevated fasting number, but was greeted with a shoulder shrugging 4.9mmol/L

I’ll take that :shifty:

Retested just to check..and was
the full Mc Garrett...5.0.

Going for a swim now to celebrate

Take care.

Love to all
Take care swimming in McGarrett waves......:joyful:

You have taken your head out of the sand by testing so the way forward has started. Test, evaluate, stick around here and keep posting eat as LC as you can and the world is your lobster Terence:angelic:

Well done for resisting the very sugary Indian desserts,
I'm not sure if I could forego the sweet stuff, especially the Bebinca -

Not a sweets fan, if I'm honest so not been an issue . Nan bread however .:***:

Irrestible ..sadly
But scores are amazingly good .
So who knows. I may yet try that once before we leave :)

Hi dogslife it really is up to you whether you agree to take an increase in medication...the rise could be the stress & I think we know that anything that is painful is certainly likely to increase our BG's...you have time to think about it before your appointment...then discuss it with the DN...she ought to take account of your concerns re: the proposed increase...I'm sorry about your slipped disc...hoping you get some respite from it soon.
Thanks, Bubbsie. The pain from my slipped disc is not as debilitating as it was but I have a lot of pain elsewhere, some of which I think is caused by my body's reaction to being constantly stressed/ exhausted. Every day has new challenges mostly related to caring for my almost 90 year old mum with Altzhiemer's and being advocate to my mum's 87 year old sister. I'm usually pretty good at dealing with challenges/ thinking on my feet etc but when there is emotion involved/ no chance of improving things no matter what I do/ lots of frustrating phone calls trying to get things organised it can sometimes seem too much. My aqua aerobics was a good stress reliever but had to give that up for now. Thanks again for replying.:)

5.7 for me this morning. On my second cup of coffee and catching up with 2 days worth of posts here. Such a lot!
@PenguinMum hugs for the digestive issues such a shame to have such repercussions after your last meal out with your friends.
@Jkraak I’m really enjoying your traveller’s tales, sounds like you’re having a brilliant time. Keep taking the Bloody Marys.
@dogslife I feel for you, pain and stress can have a big effect on your results. I completely get the demoralising aspect of constantly posting higher numbers than you’re happy with. As you can’t exercise much at the moment have you tried mindfulness/ meditation which can really help to bring down stress levels. I use the Headspace app and have found it has made a big difference to me during stressful times of my life. Hope things turn around for you soon.
Thanks,DJC3 for your helpful reply. I use " mind over matter" --when I have enough brain cells left to do so LOL but I will look for the Headspace app you mentioned. Thank you:)

Sorry @dogslife

Incomplete post...

I had meant to say resistance training (I use weights).but I also take one of my wife's RESISTANCE BANDS to work.
And I can deffo feel the effort on the muscles in my arms and shoulders.

I liked the thinking someone else put up of the WHOLE woe being a more EFFICIENT use of the foods.

As in low carbs /higher-healthy fats
Going IN...

our muscles then being like sponges soaking up and using as much of the glucose as possible...

which is where the resistance as opposed to cardio scores well.

( A theme of the muscles soaking up the the glucose , that I think is endorsed by the many examples of members reducing highish BG scores with some gentle exercise aka a walk after lunch/dinner.)

I'd suggest while hardcore weight training is out, maybe some gentler exercises on the Resistance bands MIGHT be of some benefit.

Anyway, wish you well.
Have a good day
Thanks jjraak for taking the time to reply whilst on your travels.:)

5.1 this morning after being at 4.7 last night (Before and after exercise which was a nice surprise). Would seem that my OMAD and exercise regime is working well and I am another inch down on my waist, that'll have a lot to do with it too. Happy weekend all, hope that it's a good one for you all!

Hi @Shas3 and welcome to our little community on the friendliest thread. Did you test at the start of lunch also. While anything over 8 is too high its the difference between start and 2 hours later that is important. It takes a while to build up a bank of safe meals but you will get there if you want. All best wishes.

Thanks . Yes i did and i was thrilled that my pre lunch was 5.5. And All of yesterday (i measured like a dozen times) it was between 6 to 8. And the this today!!! Wow totally shocked. I did analyze the food and I think there were too many hidden stuff which I overlooked. Lesson learnt! Now back to 5.7. Time to maintain and be totally cautious!! Btw I recently stopped Forxiga and only on Metformin. So yes, getting used to that change too.

Good morning all. Had a wonderful night out, involved some great food, albeit small portions, and some red wine. (Blood sugars stayed below 5.3 at all times.) It did get a bit chilly later on, but overall a grand evening.

Fbg was 4.8 this morning.

@Dawnmc71, @Shas3 and @Veronica Wright -- Welcome to thread. Great that you have decided to join.
@Dawnmc71 -- 4.3 isn't really too low, but might feel uncomfortable if you are not yet used to lots of readings in the fours. In a few weeks, you probably won't even notice a reading in this range any more. Agree with others that on metformin alone, you are unlikely to experience any real hypos. When you have your appointment, you might also want to bring along your meter, so that your GP can see the impact your recent dietary changes have had on your blood sugar levels.
@PenguinMum -- Hugs that such a wonderful evening was followed by an uncomfortable night with a tummy ache. Hope you feel better now.
@Goacher55 -- Hope your cold gets better soon.
@jjraak -- Sounds as if you are having a ball in Goa. Glad you are enjoying your vacation. Keep the reports coming. I'm enjoying them.
@JohnEGreen -- Hugs for the high blood sugars following the meal, but also impressed by how well your body did in bringing them down quickly.
@dogslife -- Sorry to read about your back pain, stress and disappointment with the last blood test. Constant pain and stress can definitely impact your reading. Maybe you can ask for another three months to try to bring your readings down? I am not sure if I remember, but did you ever have a C-peptide test? If insulin levels are in the normal range, it should be possible to bring readings down once your back is less painful and stress subsides.

Have a great weekend, folks.
Thanks, ziggy_w. I think I will request a 3 month extension as you suggested in the hope that stress and pain levels subside as I'm sure that is the main cause. I don't think I've ever had a C-peptide test so will inquire about that at my review. Thanks again.:)

63.5 year old boy with toy for trimming hedges and banks. Inordinately happy doing that type of job especially compared to the dire homus domesticus nonsense. What's it doing in this thread? By far my favourite and probably most effective way of controlling bg - do useful things outdoors (don't include walking personally) . Gym mimics them but never quite the same for me. (wow, I look so much like my dad in that picture)

6.4 today. Tomorrow I’m running 31miles (50km) in a trail race from Manchester to Sowerby Bridge. The training has been brutal but I’m ready - it’s my first ever marathon.
I’ll report back tomorrow afternoon.
Hope you are all well.
