What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Ahhh... caught up again. Lol.

Back home after my week away.
Back to MY food, too, which is such a relief!
Will gloss over two days of v bad eating involving stuff from M&S that was supposed to be LC but had far too many carbs for my body. And those Kettles crisps. Dang it. Now i have to fight my way off the Kettles Crisps Addiction that has re-awoken.
I know the M&S shopping trip was done with best intentions, and things could have been soooooo much worse. So am actually quite grateful.

Yesterday, after v long car journey and a lot of tiredness (thank you bad sleep and crisp combo) we had Chinese takeaway roast pork omelette. As delicious as usual. And enormous - enough left over to feed both (small) dogs. Mr B also had chips and chip shop curry sauce, the last of which always disturbs me...

Intend to have a v restful day today, and a small amount of non-crisp carbs to wean myself back down. Maybe 20g? Probably as 70% choc and peanut butter. Wot a hardship, eh? :D

Didn’t post yesterday as we had a day trip to Cardiff to visit my daughter who is at uni there and got back very late. For the first day in my diabetic life, apart from breakfast I had no plan of what I was going to eat for the whole day! :wideyed: However it worked out well and I calculated the carbs as around 40g for the day so comfortably under my top limit of 50g and average BS was 5.05 :)

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch at my daughter’s house: chicken tikka salad followed by strawberries and cream.
Mid afternoon at Nero’s raspberry phd bar and a coconut cappuccino.
Dinner at a local pub: two chicken skewers with lemon and garlic sauce, coleslaw and a side salad.

full cooked breakfast , bs was 7.5 when i woke at six , had fish and chips last night spiked to 8.3 I think , took bs an hour after waking was down to 6.5 . I'm not worried about this , had a great night last night with some friends . Need to live and have fun too . Busy today in the garden .

@Brunneria good to see you back! two of my regular cookbooks have recipes for crystalizing violet/pansy/viola/rose petals, the books are that old! I currently have a front yard awash in violets — gorgeous!! I’m rooting for you to kick the Kettle Chips habit! Yes, chocolate seems a good way to begin.... ;)
@Charis1213 sounds like you had a very enjoyable day!
Goal today: try to decide whether Sunday Sabbath will actually be a feast day or not. Have to bear in mind that at about 5:00pm I do my “strolling minstrel” appearance, and I’ve never performed while starving. OTOH, it’s 3 minutes of playing, then go home for supper! 5:00 is usually starving to death time, but can I count on stopping lunch at one piece of cheese?? How about a large travel mug of chix broth with olive oil? Hmmmm we’ll see.

@Brunneria @zauberflote
I had a go at crystallising primroses from my garden a couple of years ago. They were lovely to decorate cakes with. Not sure it would work with sugar alternatives though. I wonder if you could dehydrate the petals instead and use like dried rose petals....

Good to have you back @Brunneria and good luck with the comedown from Kettle crisps. I was never hooked on savoury snacks but could easily eat far too many of those particular ones. I wonder if it’s the crunch or the saltiness which is so moreish? Could salami crisps fill the gap for a bit do you think?

B. Half an avocado mashed with lime juice topped with sardines and sunblush tomatoes. This sounds a bit odd but is a great way to get two thirds of the calcium I need daily.
L. M&S cafe. Salmon fillet with sweet potato salad
Snack. Mixed nuts
D. Will be roast Mediterranean veges topped with feta followed by rhubarb sweetened with stem ginger and Greek yoghurt

Lunch yesterday: Prawn and XXXX Gold beer lunch.
Dinner: Grilled Nile Perch and salad.
Breakfast: Usual mushroom and cheesey omelette, some nice fatty bacon in this 1 kg packet, tomato, reheated spudlite.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugar / sweeteners, water, beer.

I put the green banana prawns into boiling water, then cooked for four minutes after they came back to boil. Drained into a strainer then into a large pot with icy water in it, then poured a another jug of icy water in the pot to stop further cooking.
Where dya get the Nile Perch from, down your way? :D

Breakfast : Cottage cheese, corn beef and Brie combo. One apple.

Lunch : Fried chicken strips with some cauliflower rice.

Dinner : Jacket potato with grated cheese. Chia seed pudding made with full fat milk and cocoa powder (added sweetner and shared it with the 6yo).

Plenty of tea.

Will snack later on some peanuts and 25 gr of 85% chocolate.

Off to make some low carb buns.

Evening all. Posting early as got my HBA1c bloods tomorrow and just in case they throw in a sneaky cholesterol test with it so fasting from now.
B : just coffee after an unexplained high (for me) fbg
L : pork chop, 2 pigs in blankets, broccoli, green beans, sprouts and a drizzle of gravy followed by 2 squares of green & blacks orange and almond chocolate
D: tin of salmon, 2 babybel, 50g mature cheddar and 3 cherry tomatoes

Spent the afternoon at an afternoon tea baby shower. Sandwiches, cakes and scones galore - not even a lettuce leaf in site so I just had coffee. However at the end when they said help yourself to the leftovers to take home, I filled my handbag with little tubs of clotted cream - that’s my dessert sorted for this week :angelic:

I had avocado and sardines today but in a different combo - yours sounds better.

B: 1/2 avocado baked with an egg in it and a bit of grated cheese. Not impressed, it was bland and there was no texture difference between avo and egg so got v boring.
Lots of CWC throughout the morning
L: Tin of sardines. ACV with celery filled with cream cheese. Chia pud made with the soy almond yoghurt but wasn’t keen, won’t bother buying it again, it tastes quite artificial.
D: Roast lamb, creamed spinach roast cauli and kale. Lc Bounty bar to finish
Haven’t really enjoyed any of it today, no idea why. Need to look back on menus Ive enjoyed and remind myself of them.

Result!
Good luck with your blood test tomorrow, not that you’ll need it, you have excellent control.
