What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning all. Woke up to a 4.6 today.

@Bubbsie and @PenguinMum -- Yes, I think quite a lot of us see numbers rise in the morning when we don't eat. For me, numbers usually drop after getting up, even if not by much.

The morning of the blood test, blood sugars were all over the place, which I putting down to stress.

4.8 mmol getting up
4.3 mmol arrving at GP's practice
5.1 mmol during the blood test 15 minutes later
3.7 mmol another 15 minutes later after leaving the practice
6.1 mmol after a further 30 minutes, where it then stayed a while.

Each time, I measured at least twice to confirm. I just find it really fascinating how sensitive our blood sugars are to stress.

Have a great day all.
Aww, ziggy_w, your fingers must have been like pin cushions after all that testing! I agree about the stress. Unlike yours though my levels are all above normal range. Best wishes. :)

My husband is a Yorkshireman. I couldn’t understand a word he said when we first met so I just used to smile politely and hope he’d go away. However he took the smiles as sign of encouragement and thought ‘I’m in there’ - the rest is history!
(When he goes back to Yorkshire now they think he ‘talks posh’)

Morning all, haven’t been on this thread as much recently. Today was a 9.7 - I still struggle to get below 8/9 in the mornings.

Had my hba1c back yesterday and now 59 - down from 103 :). I know it’s still too high, but was very happy with how the insulin has clearly helped me :). Next stop is to get it down below the 48 mark!

Hope everyone is doing OK!
well done dear <3

Good morning all,
4.7 today.

Got the furnace repair man coming today as it isn't reaching the heat on thermostat and mornings are chilly inside and outside. Do you still call it a boiler in the UK? (Ours is forced air natural gas, only older homes with radiators use hot water heat here - I grew up with one of those, heated with oil.)
Yup still call it a boiler the plumber has just left after repairing ours as have had no hot water or heating for a few days. OK now though.

Saskia I’d have them all ...I’m sure I am going to turn into a mad old cat lady....my OH would say ‘turn into’? Mnd you not sure KC or Zbobs n Daisy would go along with our plan. Those two fought over every resting place today!!

The KittenCat and I have had two other cats living with us, at different times. First I took in Sascha Siberiavitch when he needed a home, and I thought he would be company for her, but they fought like cat and ... well, like cat and cat. Then after he died, the MasCat needed a new home, and apparently I hadn't learned ... so I took her in. She and the KittenCat never fought, but they just barely tolerated each other. So after Mas died I promised the KittenCat "No more roommates." She has shown me that she wants to be my only cat, and so she is.

A late night...a late meal, poor sleep, the heat .who knows .score this morning, a higher then usual 6.7..ho hum.

Just have to console myself with breakfast by the beach and a long day swimming & sunbathing .:D

By way of a pic, here is Monty , one of the local dogs, coming to say hello.

Hello, Monty and friend and photographer.

So sorry to hear you have only the beach and sunbathing to console you! Life can be oh so rough sometimes. I guess on a scale of 1 - 10 that should equal about a 6.7.

She's advised complete rest, no work ...oh and to laugh..a LOT.

So going to follow her advise.
