Lol because it was 10 pm and it was bad enough to get it into the frig! That is, however, how I ought to do it when I leave myself the time to. It was a spur-of-the-moment idea to do this. A little planning ahead did not happen. But I had some this morning. I may have a raging case of the DPs.... so for first bfast I had a small mug of broth with about 2 tbsp evoo. Kept further rise to 5 pts/0.28, and each successive time I’ve checked after that rise it’s been lower, despite my EWIWWIW plan. Did it have to do with the broth/oil? Did it have to do with the monstrous amount of cream cheese some time after avocado and egg? The chicken taste test a bit later? (It was fairly bland having all its goodness in the broth) Will I ever know?

Ahah,.............. In that case, I'd have hit the prressurre button to give it another quick blast (that'd really deal with those little bones), then left it, still sealed on keep warm overnight, to be dealt with in the morning.

I almost always make my broth overnight. It suits me.

This afternoon, after I had done the weekly butchery run, MrB made some Mo Grob. https://rachelcooksthai.com/crispy-pork/

The first stage in the IP, then instead of drying the pork in the sun (we wish!), it was sort of replicated in the dehydrator. To finish, instead of deep frying, (hot deep fat scares me witless), he sprayed the pork with oil and put it in the air fryer to crisp.

Boy, it was magnificent. A couple of additional cooked (bit not "fried"/finished) strips have been dropped into the freezer for future attention. That became our starter.

Main course was a beautiful dry aged, from the butchery porn fridge, rib eye steaks, with a bit of salad for me, and a small Jenga of thick chips. Fab.

I've had a few very, very hungry days over the last week, but as I'm trying to gain a couple of lost kilos, I'm happy to have eaten a lot. I can't possibly be super-hungry again tomorrow!

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@DCUKMod didn’t think of that! I like it.
May as well post my meals of shame now, as they have resulted in me feeling better and dropping-toward-normal BGs.
1st bfast small mug chix broth w 2-3 tbsp EVOO.
2nd bfast 1/2 avocado, egg
Take cat to vet
3rd bfast an excess of cream cheese, as in, there’s none left.
Lunch started half an hour later: celery with AB(utter). 2 sq 90% choc with decaf-y cream. Rich!
2nd lunch munched on the played-out chicken from last night’s broth session.
I need to perhaps loosen my belt. But half an hour ago BG was lower than when I got up, which was an hour after I woke up. Go figure! Is it the no carb aspect of most of these foods?
Supper, who knows. But I feel chocolate happening before then just because it did nothing to bg at lunch.

Hi all. A lot of catching up to do (again).

@BibaBee very good news on your husband’s eye treatment.

@Chook very sad story about your husband’s colleague. But good news about the Brie.

@Brunneria your reports on the Dr Almond bread are making me reconsider my decision to ditch bread substitutes.

@shelley262 in my experience the orange and cocoa nib Montezumas is very over-eatable.

@zauberflote love the EWIWWIW acronym. I had one of those days on Tuesday, or perhaps more accurately EFTMAFTO (eat far too much and far too often) - @maglil55 my food app was doing the opposite of yours when you don’t give it enough calories!

So far as the food goes, yesterday was a contrast to Tuesday’s over indulgence. A day of work meetings meant no break for lunch and an OMAD day. Went to Shake Shack for a bunless double bacon cheeseburger with mayonnaise and onion. Dessert of extra thick double cream on return to base. @BibaBee found the Dash drinks on sale in a Nordic cafe near Cannon Street and tried the raspberry one. Very good and not at all sweet.

Today was breakfast of almond butter and extra thick double cream, lunch of M&S Serrano ham and manchego cheese rollitos and dinner at Nando’s. Plain leg, 3 plain wings and a side of grilled halloumi. Took some butter to melt on the chicken. Dessert was a new discovery from Waitrose (see pic) which has very similar carb count to Lindt 90% (14.7g/100g vs 14 for the Lindt). Tried the pineapple and grapefruit Aqua Libre. Not as good as the Raspberry and Apple, which is very good.

Meanwhile back at the hotel we have the case of the missing glass. As I prefer long, cold drinks, I brought my own large glass for the hotel stay. Have been keeping it in the fridge but must have forgotten this morning as when I got back tonight it had vanished. Reception are on the case and in the meantime I’m holding a pint glass from the bar hostage.

Edited to correct typo.

Glad you liked the raspberry Dash drink. That Bon Maman chocolate pot thing looks delicious.

Just whilst it crossed my mind a moment ago, an interesting recipe video cropped up on my Facebook feed the other day.

Soft/medium boil and egg and pop into a bowl of iced water to cool quickly. Whilst the egg is cooling, halve an avocado, lengthwise, and remove the stone. Enlarge the stone "dent" a bit, to make it egg shaped.

Carefully peel the boiled egg and put the peeled egg into the avocado indentation. Close the two avo halves together again.

Wrap avo in streaky bacon, to hold it together and cover the avo flesh.

Fry the bacon until it is to your preferred level of crisp.

According to the vid, when the avo is cut again, the egg should ooze it's yolk.

It'd be rather too much avo for me, and it wouldn't be a preferred option for MrB, but I thought it might suit somebody on here.

I’m thinking ditch the avocado and replace with sausage meat. A kind of breakfast sandwich.

It could take rather a long time to cook the sausage meat, without impacting on the runny egg. With or for a hard boiled styleeee egg, it could easily work.

Or maybe pre-cook the sausage meat?

Snap, I too have to take one of my cats to the vet to tomorrow. Do you have the same struggles getting them to go in their basket? I have to scoop him up in towel!

Interesting idea but what a phaf on. Can we just have a friendly neighbour do it and just plonk it on my plate?

My easy option is; sliced avocado topped with crispy bacon and then topped off with a soft poached egg - we usually do that with asparagus but sliced avocado would be OK.

@DCUKMod I can’t get past cooked avocado. It’s just wrong lol! But the concept and presentation appear brilliant! HOWever... the avocado is peeled or not? Can you imagine trying to make bacon stick to a teeny tiny greased pig?
@Goonergal sometimes I’m paying attention! Isn’t what you just described a scotch egg?
@BibaBee oh lordy I have a perfect(ly bad) record with cats any color but white or black. Teeth and claws. One now, 15 soon, is morbidly obese and has horribly painful arthritis. I’ve had to make him a custom carrier out of two rectangular laundry baskets sewn together with rope at the “hinge”. He still can spread-eagle his legs so that he won’t fit in.... and forget towels. They are just too fast for us, and Mr ZF is rarely there to help. He got blood all over his dress Oxford shirt this morning and it was one of the newer ones! Oxyclean will rescue us. Once in the car they mostly go stiller. Mr B’s lunch looks very elegant!! All those choices. Like I imagine tapas to be.

@zauberflote It sounds like a military operation getting him to the vets! I have two black and white cats, both tuxedos., not quite 4 and generally in good health. The boy is off to the vets with a suspected stress induced UTI, bless him. We have a rather aggressive Tom cat in the neighbourhood who is tormenting him, which I suspect is the root of the problem.

Yes, I was a tad jealous when I was preparing Mr B's lunch last night and have to confess. He loves 'bits' of things, rather than an all in one salad, which I guess is very tapas-esque. I've not made remoulade for a while and forgotten how lovely it is!

I don't think the avo would be cooked. Perhaps warmed on the outer edges.

Yes, it was peeled prior to adding the bacon outer coat

I have had an epiphany re BGs... it might not belong here, but will try to keep short. For a week now I’ve been suspecting the towel I dry my hands on to be skewing my readings. It surely has bits of leftover hand lotion on it after even 2-3 uses, because I use lots of lotion. So this morning I dedicated a clean towel for testing-hand drying. BG been falling all day despite eating like a starving person. About an hour ago I had 2 more(!) sq of choc, with decaf-y cream. My glucose has fallen an add’l 15 pts/0.8 in the past 2:45, and is now solidly inside normal range for the nonce. Or the meter’s battery could be getting old. Or it could all be a dream.

......... @Listlad yes I am. Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) is a Mozart opera. I fell in love with it in school. I think the Bergman stage adaptation (which I watched at least three times one bitter cold winter in Montreal, a very long bus ride from my flat, is available streaming somewhere. Sublime music, comedy, drama, boy meets girl twice over, lofty Masonic themes, fantasy themes, lofty Masonic fantasy themes... you name it, it’s there.
I see. Sorry it came through in red. Not sure how.

I thought at first your Avatar was the name of a flower or something. Obviously not after googling it.

BTW here in Rome the smallest gelato cone size is Piccolo size.
