What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.6 today looks like another bright day here.
We discovered this week that our multifuel burner was installed illegally and is in fact a bomb waiting to go off if we light a fire in it! Had a quote for a new one which is >£1000 and including fixtures ( flexible flue etc) and fittings will cost £2230!! Not sure what to do now.
OMG DJC what a dilemma.

Morning All. 5.1 at 6.30. Went back to bed didnt feel I needed to test again.
@DJC3 what a disaster and costly one at that! I dont know what to suggest other than shop around. Why do people without any skill attempt these things? Maddening
.@Krystyna23040 sorry for your home costs butvwe cant donwithout heating can we?
@P1ckle glad you’re better.
@trick60 what a pity, it will cost you a bit of money methinks. @Patrick66 great FBG are you feeling better?
Have a great Friday everyone. I’m off to Kent for the day to dogsit for my friend who has a hospital appt. Oscar is a 17 yo Westie but bot at all well so fingers crossed he doesnt exit while I’m there. Poor lad, its time but so hard for her to let him go.
Stay or get well all and stay safe.

get another option . Why did they say it was a bomb?

Morning all! Ended up with a 4.6 this morning which caught me off guard but I had practically zero carbs last night so THAT may have done it for me. Bit of a chilly day coming into the office and gym is on the cards later on so hopefully it'll be a fruitful day!

@DJC3 Okay that just sounds horrific, is there nothing you can do about it with the original installers?
@P1ckle Glad to hear that you're on the mend though, hopefully the FBG will follow suit!
@dogslife No experience here but I do hope it goes well for you.

Good luck find a way around it..:)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who take part in pub quizzes.

A delicate 6.5 for me this morning.

Well folks here in this reality it's called Friday and the huge fusion reactor is glowing nicely.
I have no idea what you are all up to today, but a plea from the hearts please enjoy it, bring a smile to some poor grump person's face, their that should ruin their day.
If you are wondering about the pub quiz. I was allowed to attend and compete on behalf of Mrs J's team. It will not happen again instead of coming about 4th or 5th, we came about 8th or 9th. I have been banned.

Get it sorted fast either new one or remove asap - that will kill yer quicker than diabetes. No co detector or certificate on wall would have been a clue as to DIY job:banghead: That price seems about right actually assuming it includes new Gove friendly stove.

Our holiday recap.

Landed ok.
But the NOISE...omg
The hub bub of so many foreign voices
The smells of so much foreign food.
The driving is at best orderly-ish..but oh those taxis .
And all the miserable faces.

BUT that's enough about London.;)

We are home safe n sound after another fantastic holiday in the land of a thousand gods.

Overview.
I ate breads & rice and scores stayed good.
I drank far to much and danced way to often, to be good for liver or image..but s*d it...we HAD FUN, baby .:D

We even kareoke'd....:woot:..
( oh the shame :wideyed:)

But we did walk... a LOT.
We did travel around ..a LOT.
and I swam a LOT..
( it became my 'wet gym' )

And I even visited gym with lads from beach..so I TRIED to stay healthy and fit.

Downside is we are here not there..:bigtears:

But for all the extra foods, good or bad..and the many drinks..I only put on 3 lbs..:D

So back to normal, bread free, alcohol free.
Time to pamper Mrs Panc & Mr Liver for a little while, me thinks.

Today's FBG..after globetrotting home a not too miserable 6.3...

Now where did we put those holiday brochures, again..;)

Have a good one all.

( Hope all those with broken things get them mended in the best way and price possible.)

For those down or poorly... hugs and best wishes.

For those away or soon to be...#WELLJEL.

Enjoy and share a few crumbs with us stuck at home..:)

Have you thought of auditioning for 'wish you were here'.....you could be the new Judith Chalmers?

Good morning everyone from a balmy morning in Texas. I must say that for a Brit, sporting a tan in April is quite novel. Will I be detained at Heathrow on our return? Best dye my beard just to make sure.
The wheel of misfortune had it’s all too brief 14 day life yesterday and, like a butterfly after it’s brief mating dance, was blown into the wind in the circle of life.
The newly fitted wheel huffed and puffed into life and in a display of cognitive dissonance and ignoring the lucid falicy, uttered an interesting 5.6.
Have a great day if you can, we plan to do a bit of grocery shopping (only 30 miles to the supermarket) and then slouch like salted egg-plants under the trees in the back yard, sipping and a yipping with a holler and a swaller.
yee-haa

Not happy.
7am fasting blood sugar was 10.7
I was stressed yesterday morning. I am profoundly deaf and cannot hear on the telephone (live on my own) and had paperwork and stuff to sort yesterday morning which requested phone calls (despite me setting up stuff so they knew my deafness, and despite me letting them know text or email only, but that is another whole rant). Succeeded by email, with all but one issue, so went to my afternoon art group stressed and forgot my art materials...

It didn’t help they were waving chocolate Swiss rolls in front of my face at coffee break ‘you know you want one..’ They know I am diabetic.

I did flipping want one, but I declined. But when I got home the urge for chocolate was overwhelming. So I had some and didn’t feel any better.

So was it my fault my reading this morning was up to 10.7?

Then I thought, maybe the meter itself is faulty. Is this denial. Maybe. But it is from doctor and is nearly two years old. It is CareSens.

I was going to order some test strips of Amazon for it because doctor only allows 4 test strips a week and I need to test myself more often to check with foods I eat. But the test strips are very expensive.

So last week I ordered a new different meter and test strips and lancets. Much much cheaper. Affordable for me. This new one is SD Codefree.

So I opened the box. And tested with this new one. First of all my finger refuses to part with any more blood this morning. Finally it gives me a drop. I test it. This new reading just minutes after the first reading of 10.7, is now 9.7.

I am much happier it is now in single figures. Psychologically that makes me feel happier.

Maybe the old meter is inaccurate. Or maybe it is possible that different meters given different readings.

Dark chocolate, which is my only vice, is now being divided into some very small plastic containers I have and I can only have one of those tiny containers each day...
Hello @gennepher I have the SD Codefree meter and strips too. The lancets in the starter pack are fine. I tried to save money with subsequent cheaper lancets, slightly different colour, not so good, needing multiple attempts (Ouch!)

You have told us some of your unique qualities that sometimes make your days different. As time passes you will learn some of other people's situations, on this forum. I hope you will continue to find this forum to be a supportive, caring and safe on-line space.

In the meantime, onwards and upwards! (Or in the case of blood glucose, downwards!)

Hi!
Thank you for the welcome.
Ah, yes. I have the lancets in the starter pack. But I think I ordered the cheaper ones for further use, they are a different colour as you say. So you might hear me saying OUCH or see a blue haze in the air around me?

Not sure why they said that it was a bomb - why a bomb? If the burner is OK then have someone check the chimney for leaks with a smoke kit - you then may need it lining and a cowl and maybe a chimney pot fitted - needs another look, perhaps get in touch with HETAS and ask for an inspection and another quote. Whatever you do, don’t light until you inspect. Good luck.
