Thank you, @ianpspurs . As you say, a very good article. I Googly-oogled "jug avoidance" and also the ZW -- learned the former, still working on the latter. I don't know if you are a fan of Star Trek: TNG -- there is an episode, "Darmok," which I just thought of. ;) :D
In return, and in celebration of your homecoming, here is a character from one of my father's (and my) favorite comic strips, Barney Google, and his theme song:

@dunelm I like the mental image of British babies perambulating while American babies stroll. Nowadays I think the vehicles could be called "runners" since the ones I see look more like this:

than what I had when I was little:

Good gracious Saskia that looks like a deconstructed lawnmower :joyful: and not at all comfortable. I notice all the modern technology have impressive suspension and the babies lie on sheepskin...too much of a good thing me thinks. Soon they will be starting school not just in nappies but unable to walk!

@PenguinMum Congratulations on being back in the zone! Happy surfing -- may it last a long time! :)

@Fndwheelie that is a beautiful and amazing train. I have never seen anything like that before -- thank you for posting the pics. I love Santa Claus waving from the window. :)

@jjraak Hug for lack of sleep and the stress. I hope whatever is going on at work will turn out in your favor.

...

Decades ago I read Miss Read's first novel, Thrush Green. The whole story takes place on the first of May, and the first chapter begins with a little boy waking up and saying "White Rabbits." At the time I had no idea why. Now, when I read posts here of the first day of various months, I always think of that little boy, Paul. :)

And here are Harvey and Elwood P. Dowd.

I thought about posting the photo of me in mine but of course I have no idea how to scan a snapshot or upload it or download it or whatever it would take ... uh-huh ... yep ... :angelic:;):hilarious:

P.S. ... hmm, now you've got me thinking: maybe that's why when I grew older I loved helping my dad cut the grass? :D

Morning all. Sunny, bright and God even gave me a squirrel playing around the children's play house on the lawn nearest our house to start my day. No idea what White Rabbits is all about but it is trending in @DJC3 land and @gennepher's bungalow so White Rabbits to all. Ian's adventures in hospital land all over for now so heartfelt thanks to all who sent me good wishes and to @PenguinMum for her thoughts today. Also thanks to the nurses, hcas and surgeons of Peterborough City hospital for fixing my plumbing and dealing with the dirty end of elderly men - God bless you all. Almost irrelevant in a way but my fbg was 5.5 which seems about par for all the shenanigans lately, Just a footnote but if you want to ensure an old guy can't pass water tell him he needs 3 good samples before being discharged from hospital. 2 of us trying that late yesterday evening - drinking water for England - to beat the 9.00 pm deadline (doors shut apparently) - I won. Final hurdle before discharge - printer in the area I was had stopped working to print my discharge letter. Tracked a working printer down, Cannula removed and we made it out of the doors at 8.58 pm.

I think you have the first lines of a good poem there. I'm serious. They could post it on the wall and it would help cheer up any others involved with the same ordeal.

Morning All. 5.5 today which is good after Tandoori prawns and cauli bhajee t/a. Very glad to be back in the zone these last few days but will it last?

@DJC3 what a great thing to do with your neighbours and family. Good that Dennis and the girls can join in too.

Well done for sticking it out and getting back to your good fbg numbers.
The litter pick was fun, the girls really enjoyed it but Dennis wasn’t much of a help it has to be said!

So 80 years ago today WW2 began and for all the bloviating in between we end up with Trump, Orban, Maduro, Johnson, Erdogan et als - don't know about carbs or stress raising bg levels but that lot must be the most toxic cocktail ever assembled. Arc of history my whotsit. (Think the anaesthetic may have fully worn off now):arghh::arghh:

@ianpspurs maybe the anesthetic has worn off, but on the other hand ...

William Penn couldn't change the world. Roger Williams couldn't do it; Oglethorpe and the Wesley brothers, William Booth, the founders of Liberia ... not Thomas More ... not even George Fox ...

If all of them could have held a summit, would it have made any difference? Maybe so ...

Today God gave you a squirrel in a children's play area, and, through you, He gave us all the vision. And it reminded me of a post on another board where a woman quoted Thomas Gray without knowing she was doing so, or the context of her quote "ignorance is bliss" ... and I myself don't know if Thomas Gray was writing with tongue firmly in cheek or not ...

All I know is what Jesus said about the need for us to become like little children. And I am glad we all have this ongoing online summit.

Good morning with a disappointing 6.2 reading at 6 am, however the day is sunny and full of promise.

Arrived back late yesterday from the best small Folk and Acoustic music Weekend in all of the land. So much talent!

In the words of Ludwig Van Beethoven “Music can change the world.”

The one very noticeable feature was the huge smile on the faces of all the 150 festival goers at Friday’s 3 hour Ceilidh. Mind you trying to eat the hog roast served at the interval without a bread roll was quite a challenge lol.

Will catch up on all the posts later today, first I have to get all of my 6 monthly Fixed Point Photography Survey snapped on my camera for our local AONB organisation.

Fbg 7.8

Which is good since I nibbled food all day. I was nibbling all day because I was working in the garden with frequent rests and coffees. I have a simple app where I log my food and it is still about same calories and carbs. Possibly one more day to get garden under control. Then back to eating within a 3 hour window when I can.

Looks okay out there. Sun and blue skies. But I have diabetic foot appointment today that should have been last week but it wasn’t on their computer system. I had text reminder at 8 pm last night for this appointment.

Not having breakfast yet. Promised myself breakfast in an Italian restaurant, which as long as I refuse the orange juice and the Ciabatta (which is amazing but the ciabatta would be about 50 carbs wouldn’t it?), the rest of the breakfast works out as near zero carbs.

I don’t do shopping, it’s not my thing, but this is in a designer clearance outlet and I am in sore need of new shoes...I am a size 10 to 11 so this means men’s shoes to get roomy enough for my poor toes.

It’s 7am so shower now, another black coffee, feed the cat first, peek in here for a mo, then get my skates on...

Take care, have a good day.

Morning All. A 6.8 this morning and all my own work! I made a chicken, ham & pepper pasta bake for OH and son and at washing up time there was a large serving spoonful in the bowl which either went in the bin or....it was all the crunchy cheesy sticky bits and I couldnt. Need to have a stern talk with myself!
Have a great Monday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

Good morning diabetes massive. UK autumn has arrived technically which doesn't suit me one bit so the cheery posts from @trick60, @karen8967 and @Muddy Cyclist (fbg blip apart) raised my animal spirits to the level of "you can talk to me but make it brief" My fbg was 5.9 which did absolutely nothing to make me a nicer, kinder little boy nor did my trip to the scales. I absolutely know very well that there are much more serious things than not liking a season (or 3) or higher bg readings or a temporary bmi of 22.3 but, imho, you either take notice of this data or stop taking readings. Yesterday was an OMLAD day - one meal, lasted all day - which was clearly my way of dealing with what has happened lately. I have been told not to do real exercise while I heal so my natural release valve is closed. Enjoy your day folks while I find some kind of sublimation project.

5.5 which I am very pleased to see this morning. After the idyllic day yesterday walking around Sheringham Park - today it is back to work. Because I have had a break my diary is crammed full today - as it is for the next 2 weeks. Then it settles down to being more normal.

As I am the only person who books my diary I know that it is absolutely my fault. Even after 20 years of working for myself it still keeps happening.

Aww, you made me laugh. I know none of this is funny taming the diabetic beast.
Hugs. You are doing well :)

@Krystyna23040 great fbg and the walk sounds divine. I have read at least 1 other post of yours extolling the virtues of Sheringham Park so once we are settled in our new home and I am told I can put in a bit of effort I shall head for it. Re the diary, are you one of those who needs to be busy to thrive or do you dislike disappointing other people? Take care I enjoy your posts and your take on life.
