What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Oh dear OBB I'm laughing like a drain here...I haven't heard anyone say flange for years...thank goodness you didn't mention widgets

They replaced widgets following the debacle of 'Mandy's Monday that was Wednesday'. Back in those days, a widget was fitted to the old black bins to stabilise their throughput (remember, there were no hinged lids then). Unfortunately, Mandy Robinson of 4 Chase Terr damaged the widget and didn't report it.

The consequence of the act was that that time itself folded in Chase Terrace resulting in binmen appearing both Mondays and Wednesdays. Nature, abhorring a vacuum, decided that Mandy should move her life up to double time in order to fill the bins. Her life became measured in dog years :wideyed:

The last that was heard of Mandy she was racing around the country at all sorts of times trying to avoid the effects of the widget :)

I have experienced the same before if I don't eat but I was rather hoping that the first test was a blip o_O
It may be a blip mojo so there's no harm trying again...nowadays I even have a few carbs before bed & find that overall my waking levels come down...that doesn't work for everyone however that's the beauty of testing we can figure out what works best for us.

I'm still laughing you have to stop fir a little while...just while I take 'Plumpy' for his walkies...in the meantime I am going to ask Siri exactly what that means space time continuum in relation to widgets & flanges...hold on a mo'...I don't believe it he referred me to Einstein's Relativity and the space time continuum...scintillating reading no doubt I'll save it for when I can't sleep.

When we were kids and Einstein was still winner at top trumps and the universe was just a lovely blanket with soft folds, bins were nice (when new) galvanised tin things with a matching, removable and circular lid. They were carried bravely on the shoulders of the specially trained bin men who heroically emptied them into the side of their attractive steam powered, curved roofed, vehicles.
Like all things in this fast modern life that we lead, the strings and loops that suddenly appeared have led to massive innovations in bin technology. I fear that the flange may very soon go the way of the widget and, unless some bright young spark can push his or her hand into the flux and drag out the next iteration, we will soon be back to shoving our rubbish into what we think is our bin and have it appearing somewhere down the street or even in another town.

I miss those, you could put ashes in them from the fire. That did cause problems though as the poor things evolved into 'incinerators' that you can't use because of the clean air law ;)

I'm glad you said 'young' because I'm not shoving my hand up anything, lambing taught me that :)

@OldButBold @dunelm @HarryBeau whats all this about widgets and flanges and bins on wheels? Our grubby bin man comes with flat cap with material protecting his neck, leather waistcoat and happily throws my galvanised bin on his back, carries it to his smelly truck, empties it and puts back in our back yard, no wheels, widgets or flanges to be seen.

No MC you've gone way way back in the space dimension time thingy...that's the coal man of about thirty years ago I'll refer this to our resident expert @OldButBold he'll sort you out

Do you still live by Round Oak Steel or something? :);)

Your few days brought to mind a song we often perform, 'Pasttime with good company' composed by King Henry. A time spent with friends and family should always be a wonderful pleasure, glad you enjoyed yours.

Good kingly advice:

The best ensue,
The worst eschew,

Just so long as we don't "chew" the worst.
Last night I didn't chew the best, but I did eschew the rest of it, which gave me a 7 this morning.
Or, for all I know, the 7 has nothing to do with what I ate; I'm OK as long as whatever I ate didn't give me an 8.

I know, I know ... I'll get my coat.

But first ... the best ensue, the wurst we chew ...

I feel like an explorer in time and space this morning reading all these posts about bins and flanges and widgets. Or maybe more like a wanderer, drifting from dim grasp of a word to utter confusion ... I am however enjoying the lovely soft folds of this universe, which I can recognize as the usual comfy blanket of this thread ... I shall drift on, reading, with cat on lap, and koffy at hand (I think my Baedeker has slipped off the table) ...

Love it @SaskiaKC you do realise that's ruined it now for the gig we are singing it at next Wednesday, I'm sure those will be the words that will come out of my mouth and it will all be your fault.

If you are mad enough I'm sure there is room.

Edit. Just remembered its bin day tomorrow, I'll try and get a picture of the bin man if I can get him to stand still long enough.
