What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all. Fbg 5.2 and exercise bike session done. I think cauliflower baileys is likely to be cauliflower, baileys. I won't be putting cream in gravy anytime soon and turkey may be off the menu this year as the farm we prefer - part of College of West Anglia- are giving it a miss this year. As for cowboys, I still remember my first watch as a small boy - hopalong Cassidy - very not politically correct https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264499549572. Have a spiffing day chums.
In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us,

Morning all. 5.0 for me after having only a crusted cheese omelette to eat yesterday.
Went to see The Good Liar at the cinema (Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen ) quite enjoyable, both fine actors. All tickets £5 on Mondays so we’ll worth it.
@gennepher I am also swigging back the coffee trying to keep out the cold and steeling myself to take Dennis out for his morning constitutional. It’s still raining hard.

Bitterly cold high winds here @DJC3 , as well as the wet stuff...get both of you warm as quickly as you can when you get back...

Morning...a super sleep only spoilt by Nigel Farage on BBC Breakfast news yuk!...freezing this morning I seem to feel the cold more acutely nowadays so the heating has to go on now...chimney being swept on Thursday that should make a difference...oh blimey Farage on again apparently he's been offered a peerage wish he'd been offered a one way ticket out of the UK...woke to a 6.5 no doubt my 'catch up' FBG from the weekend.

The struggle will be getting him out in the first place Gennepher - he hates the rain which is unfortunate as it rains ever such a lot in Cornwall. I usually have to carry him 50 yds up the lane then plonk him down. Just as well he’s not a big dog! Hope you manage to stay warm and cosy today.

@DJC3 I am afraid our doggies missed their walk yesterday morning because of the torrential rain - so Dennis is lucky that you take him out in the rain, even though he probably doesn't think he is.

We do get bitterly cold winds here in Norfolk and they certainly were bitterly cold this morning @gennepher it sounds like your weather is the same as ours today.

Morning campers... And pirates of Cornwall.;)

Scores a rather pleasing for me. 5.5

Thought I was being sensible, not so sure now.

Planned a fullish day, CBT session, Asthma Review, HBA1c and foot check, then flu jab, all spaced out as per availability, so might just camp out in surgery waiting room in-between..

I keep hearing these weather posts ....yet all I can see is a bright sunny day each time,
We do seem lucky in the capital at the Moment it appears.

Have to agree with you @HarryBeau ,
I noticed a few days ago,
(with the motorbike, you get used to the Cold, so it doesn't normally bother me),
But I've been doing a lot more walking, intentionally to keep the steps up now I'm off, and I too now notice the cold a lot more...bbrrr

(In the air con wars at work, it was always a fight with the girls to have it HOT :***: or Cold
I used to say I was part polar bear when they asked HOW I could LIKE working in the freezing cold at work :D....

Guess, I'm just a regular bear now . :writer::arghh: )

Morning All. 5.8 today could be a lot better but could be worse. Envious of @DJC3 and @Krystyna23040 with your perfect 5s but you both put the effort in. I am finding I am hungrier because of the cold weather and salads dont seem so attractive atm. Funny about Dennis needing to be carried through the rain. Dont know whats wrong with my two fur girls today but they seem to have fallen out in the night and are sparring which is unusual. Neither are very happy so hope they sort it out and pronto. @Debandez what a fascinating day you had with the Unwins. I remember my first Christmas just after being dx being lost and I didnt know what to do. @gennepher hope you and Popeye stay cosy today. @OldButBold good the hospital appointment went well. @HarryBeau I would love to know what Nigel got from Boris, most probably no deal guarantee since he seems completely uninterested in his own deal. @ianpspurs its a pity about your turkey farmer what will you go for instead!
Have a good Tuesday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

I couldn't agree more with both of your comments.
I find Farage so objectionable Krystyna and the news footage of Boris mopping up some of the flood water in south Yorkshire enraged me...it's taken them (Govt.) 3/4 days to declare the flood a national emergency wonder what they'd do if the floodwaters hit London & the south.

There seems to be little to distinguish between Farage Johnson & Trump PM...like some sort of unholy trinity...irrespective of politics it's amazing how those three politicians ( I use the term loosely) have the main floor on the world stage...who would have thought?

All I can say I say thank goodness I detest Baileys, sounds like it could spoil good Cauliflower IMO. :joyful:

What @Debandez mentioned Doc Unwin advised against Oils in spreads got me searching. I never use spreads so that's not a problem, we cook with Olive Oil mostly and Rapeseed Oil for stir frying veg, never deep fry anything. I am trying to establish why not to use Rapeseed Oil. Other than the awful fields of the plant I find much conflicting good/bad reports, can anyone throw any light on why it's bad for diabetics?

Between a rock and a hard place in much of the worlds politics but more worrying is that two main British Parties are either going to far to the left or to the right, what happened to the middle of the road Labour or Conservative politicians? Stormy times ahead I fear.

Good morning everyone, well what’s left of it. Up later than usual and had to fly round the house like a dervish for my 8 to 9 250 and then carry on for the 9 to 10 crop. What a palaver.

The wonder wheel forgetting something in town yesterday and having to walk back again spat out a beige coloured 5.4 this am.

Loving the references to the TV programmes of my childhood and wonderful to see that so many of them were actually in colour - my brother will be astounded when I tell him.
Interesting looking up references to Romans and folk with names not now current in baby naming books today. Never stop learning but do not carry with you your mistakes. Do not carry your cares.

I received my certificate and badge yesterday for this years Royal British Legion Riders Branch Non-Attendance Rally. This year it will be held at the End Of The Rainbow but I fear that, once again, I will not be attending. It’s a fund raiser for the Poppy Appeal, a bit of fun. My certificate will be framed and hung in the Pirate Room (the downstairs loo) with other trivia and nonsense (apart from the shelf containing Terry Pratchet novels - all hail the Gods of Small Things).

Koffy - have a great day if you can. Who exactly is Cauliflower Bailey?

I think the rape seed oil/vegetable oil idea is covered here
