What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.9 today at 6am

Just been meditating

Drinking black coffee

Still under electric blanket

I have some computer paperwork to do

But my real paper paperwork is still in huge piles

Yes I was procrastinating from the other day and still am, but I got every room tidied and cleaned and even the wooden floors polished...
Procrastinating takes a lot more effort than some people think.

Is there something going on in the U.K. I don't know about or am just out of touch? Mrs MC thought we should make use of some vouchers as she needed some new undies and today was last day so we ventured out to a local shopping precinct which we have not done on a Saturday for many years. I thought people were feeling the financial pinch in the U.K., it was unbelievable how busy it was , parking a nightmare, long lines of people with trolleys full of clothes, household items at every till, I counted 100 waiting to be served at M&S, other stores were as bad, PC world packed solid, is this the usual way people spend their Saturdays? Certainly no signs of financial hardship.

Just out of interest it was impossible to eat anything low carb at M&S cafe, Mrs MC tried but could not even get them to do sausage and bacon without the bun and breakfast finishes at 11 am so had too waste the bun.

However my pre evening BG reading is 5.3.
It’s all these fancy festive adverts on the telly. You shouldn’t watch them, they contain subliminal messages. Mrs Miggins went shopping for a dragon yesterday - “no Dunelm, not a toy one, a real one”.

We don't watch TV in real time so we always fast forward through any ads. However maybe that subliminal message still gets through but in a different time zone, who knows? Ah I bet @OldButBold does if he's not been driven totally mad by the Urban Space Man in his head.

I’m looking out into the garden at the back of the house and very slowly, the dimmer switch on the big light is being operated, putting to sleep all the garden lights that were earlier twinkling in the shrubbery and swirling up into the trees. Yes, Mrs Miggins is an avid collector of garden lights and garden paraphernalia; wheelbarrows, animals and girouettes abound. I have lost count of the number of metal cockerels of various sizes (I wanted to use the short name version of that rooster but I suspect that the mind police software would throw a tantrum and go into a sulk).

The wonder wheel of experimental Yorkshire puddings and sausages obtained from a farmers market issued a nice cuddly 4.8 this am.

I received a message from that delivery company called Hermes on Friday informing me that my parcel is on it’s way - and then another - and then another - messenger of the gods indeed. I think they should re-brand as Mercury, who sidelined in trickery and thievery. Luckily I found a link enabling me to choose a “safe place” for the delivery driver to leave the parcel if we are not in. Note: “Safe place” - not “safe word”.

Have a wonderful day if you can, somebody has moved my pencil - I expect it will need sharpening when it turns up.

Mrs Miggins will tell you that I never do things in real time. Which is not true as I can get a hand written list of potential jobs into the shredder pretty sharpest.

Strange! Mrs MC would say that about me also.

On the pencil front, have you checked behind your ear, I often find a collection behind mine.

Morning....
Just put on kettle, who wants what..?

Still striking pay dirt in the 5.0 zone..
A 5.8 this morning
Hoping to keep on mining this seam for a good while yet.

Nice to see there is some improvement @HarryBeau ..x

@gennepher nice effort on the cleaning front

Good to see the mood so bright this AM @OldButBold

@ianpspurs enjoy the hols, loved pafos, the old fisherman's cider bar was a pleasant stop off, with some most unusual concoctions.

And so to this time, travel conundrum.

Does all day now only constitute from 12 noon?
Has a black hole swallowed up time, so it seems weeks not months since we was last here at the junction of Xmas madness.

I doubt many will know the real reason, so best to just hang on tight to your sanity, if you don't want to get dragged into the whirlpool of madness that signifies the start of the seasonal ringing of the tills ;) :hilarious:

Oh, and much thanks for the music of the day, lads.....:shifty:

:D

Morning All. 5.8 for me today and the celebrations have wound down now so will hope for better 5s. Dont know about the days starting late but yesterday it was dark before 4.30pm so thats night too early for me, @HarryBeau glad to hear you might have turned the corner with this beastly bug. @dunelm yes the dragons where out in force when I nipped into a well known supermarket on Friday, real ones and chocolate ones.
@ianpspurs your hotel sounds lovely, noted the helpful chef on the other thread, hope you both relax and enjoy it. A quiet day for me today Mr PM off to Germany later so Strictly, sofa, cats and PJs part of my plan.
Enjoy your Sundays all. Stay/get well, stay safe.

Your last line did have me laughing -- at myself -- I had been picturing a really big dog coat that would layer over other dog coats to keep your bigger dog warm. :D
Archie, my big old chocolate Labrador.loves being warm and he would absolutely love layers of dog coats. He loves to lie with his back resting against a radiator. I used to worry that he would burn his back but in 13 years he never has.

I hope your big coat kept you warm on your dog walk - I had to ‘double sock’ yesterday to keep my toes from freezing inside my wellies.
Yes I was warm - actually I was a little too warm. It is another big coat day today as we are off to Felbrigg Hall and it is bound to be so cold. Haven't been there for ages as it is one National Trust place we seem to have forgotten we like walking around.

For those wondering about what to have for breakfast today try picking from this lot. The omelette chef is still here - amazing guy speaks and sings in at least 5 different languages.
https://www.elysium-hotel.com/en/restaurants/lemonia-piazza (try the virtual tour; champagne now on the way out to piazza; mostly Germans here atm) Evening meals are much the same - eat till you burst then hit the gym and pool early next morning seems to be the Tutonic way. As far as I can tell most Brits avoid the gym as far as possible.

It is disappointing because I used to like having the occasional lunch at M&S. Most other places are really helpful with low carb but M&S has got worse on the low carb front.

Mmhh.... Inventive way to deliver I suppose.
And they do only get paid for the delivered packages.

I would however if I was his boss, be much more concerned about him standing on roof of van.
Resale price goes down if roof in poor condition, and many insurers will write off a vehicle if the roof is damaged in any way.

Btw loving that phrase.."they live amongst us"
Makes me chuckle, thinking of the invasion of the body snatchers type movies or the little alien guy in MIB. and checking out WHO might actually be one..:woot:
