What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I just want to say that I feel so good tonight. I don't hurt anywhere, for a change, and the acetaminophen I took a few hours ago, that gave me an afternoon nap, is now just making me feel peaceful, as is the KittenCat asleep in my lap.
There's food in the fridge, Fred Astaire movies on TV, my phone's ringer is off, and the horrible neighbors apparently didn't sublet their apartment this Christmas so there are no loud wallbangers next door.
This is good. :) ^. .^

Happy New Year one and all.

Family and friends now all gone, mess cleared up and a chance to sit down and relax with a guitar, cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate 90 % proof of course must start the new year as I mean to go on.

Expect higher than normal BG in the morning, I mean later this morning, then off to see the traditional New Year's Day Morris Dancers on Ironbridge Shropshire and a bit of lunch.

Sleep well, pleasant dreams.

Welcome T20. Fbg 5.6 @ 4.34 - no alcohol since a small glass of red on Sunday. A very hygge morning here. New socks and slippers (Fat Face sale), 800 mls English Breakfast loose leaf tea (with Biolin inulin, thanks @Krystyna23040 ), tree lights and mobiles glowing, rib of beef very slow cooking, football and logs on woodburner later. @SaskiaKC your evening sounds perfect and fits hygge nicely. @SlimLizzy thanks for that information. @Muddy Cyclist enjoy the Morris dancing and lunch. I didn't enjoy December much T2/performance wise (early scare, disappointing A1c) - Advent part , especially Antiphons, went really well- but dug in and waited for the pitch to calm down and batting conditions to improve. Thanks for the support ( I will wear it with pride). Have a great day/year/decade. Roaring 20s Mk2 ?- just as long as history doesn't repeat itself as farce (some bookies paying out on that one already). I read the book referenced below in 2018 - good read IMHO

Hygge part 2 - with Norwegain flag not Danish, sorry Christian (Spurs reference). I like the blanket idea as a present/project for our grandchildren. Candles music and lighting etc down to Alexa. Alexa, turn lights/music to Hygge:angelic: (other systems are available)

Good first day Morning of the New Year and a 5.2 for me today.

Murky day outside, looks like a damp day in store for Mrs MC and I on the historic Ironbridge.

Be sure to make the most of this new start..
Please forgive the observation but it does seem as though MIL settled in care home and fbg improves. From the outside it appears that stress not diet was major driver there. Have a great day together.

Morning All. Happy new year. 5.7 today yay welcome back my old friend 5.
@ianpspurs if Hygge is about socks, a cosy rug and a roaring fire I’m in already (with snuggling cats). Great idea for today though. Mr PM off to the footie later so I am free to slouch. @SaskiaKC your NYE sounded very Hygge and thankfully pain free.
Hope 2020 is kind to you all and is kind to the world (ref Australia).
Have a good first day. Stay well, stay safe.

I think the choice of pet is optional - dogs in our case as Julie is highly allergic to cats and I have a strange dislike, verging on fear, of them from childhood. We registered at Wood Green yesterday as we both miss the dogs. The pattern and thickness of socks is quite important apparently. I homed in on the wood, stone, leather and wool part - new house will need hyggifying big time. Slippers seem to be important - yesterday, after 4 years of searching, I found a hygge pair (spent a small fortune in the process). Basically, seems to me part of the orfentic vibe so enamel mugs and bowls with hand knitted porridge all round (LC, organic and ethically sourced obs). Enjoy your day and the cats.

No forgiveness needed, I arrived at the same conclusions, stress is a major player in all of this Type 2 stuff. Need to increase the amount of hygge in my life, but isn't it the same as the UK being Cosy? I need to do more research :)

Good morning from the future...:D

Well we went out and survived new year's Eve in Vietnam.
Hotel laid on a BBQ buffet.. So I went full on carnivore because the meats were simply delicious... Ribs, beef, grilled chicken all of it to die for.

Then off out..to Irish bar..(don't judge me :woot:)
Met crowd from hotel, .. our barman had motorcycled from Switzerland to Vietnam.
And one chap entertained us with his recent experience in a Cambodian prison... So quite a wild night, all told

Our new year's ended at 5am.. So quite surprised o be greeted by my old friend 5.8 this new year's morning.

It's a sorry tale to tell, because one again we have to drag ourselves to the beach, eat ridiculously cheap food that tastes much better the the cost could ever possibly suggest... And a gentle swim in the ocean before warming ourselves lazing on sunbeds while sipping mohitos ....

No hugs required..
It's messy work I agree, but I'm more then happy to take one for the team...;)

May the coming year bring all you desire, and improved health for us all.

To infinity and beyond. Xx

I don't think there is an English strain of hygge. Definitely a Scottish version https://www.theguardian.com/lifeand...-hygge-more-about-wet-moss-than-warm-blankets. English seem to be too busy chasing heroic disaster pretending all that action is somehow better than using your brain. Explains why we are where we are right now IMHO. 4 useless PMs in succession can't be an accident and definitely not helpful.

With you on dogs, 48 years of having Labradors in our lives, always Champagne Coloured thus our latest being named Moët a great breed and very easy to train, I do like a well trained dog.

Good morning/evening folks, well a new year, a new day, surprisingly similar to yesterday to be honest but that's new year for you. An unsurprising 6.0 on the dice today, off to eldest daughters today for a bit more over indulgence....when will it all end.

Happy 2020 to all.

Morning all and a happy and peaceful start to the year to you all. 5.6 today, a welcome surprise as I didn’t drop below 6.5 yesterday for no apparent reason.
I like the hygge/ cosy feel of the thread today. Our sofa is a contented muddle of children and dogs which sums it up for me. ( sometimes I wish this wasn’t a public forum so I could post a photo). We are having Christmas no 2 as middle daughter and partner are back with us.

Morning...a good sleep to begin my new year + some re-runs of the Great British Sewing Bee...the cats are racing around upstairs so fortunately that means the trail of destruction is out of sight of visitors should we get any...one more weekend celebration due on Saturday ( a late Christmas & birthday) with friends in London...then I begin to evaluate what a thoroughly over indulgent & most enjoyable carb fest has done ...the static exercise bike will be dusted off on Sunday & the walking boots hidden at the back of the wardrobe will be rediscovered...I never make New Year resolutions but feel a strange determination to get more active & be hard core with my diabetes coming on...Happy New Year all & lets all get moving.
