Dinner: Out for two glasses of dry red wine, had some chicken cracklings with the wine. A bunless Big King XXL on the way home.

Oh I’m 60 posts behind! Frustrating, especially when a quick glance tells me there is discussion about moo grob. I need to try this so will be looking back.
Today just TWAM for breakfast.
Went to town, some errands and shopping and intended to have lunch at a good cafe we know but it was shut.. ended up in Costa, pretty much the only eaterie open. I bought a 40g pack of almonds from H&B to have with my coffee, still hungry so bought a peanut butter carb killer bar there too.
D: DD broccoli and cheese soup and 2 glasses of red.
@DCUKMod I’m going to have to cull my gadgets too. Waffle maker and food processor aren’t earning their keep. I’m cross with myself as they are both fairly new.
@Goonergal jumper cull coming up too - bought 3 ( yes 3) new ones in a sale today. Good grief!

I thought you were a chaffler?

In winter my food processor doesn't get too much use, and things like soups are stick blended if needed. In summer though, I do my own coleslaw, and the processor makes short work of the bucket load I do at a time, and once it's on top (it lives on the shelf on the prep bench), it tends to sit there for a while.

Yesterday, discussing such things, as I was perusing another Chinese cleaver, MrB declared our kitchen well equipped. I reckon there stil room for "improvement". I just haven't decided what it is yet! :)

@Annb - when you bought your slicer, did you buy chainmail gloves for handling the blade? As I have "form" with knives and saws (don't ask), MrB insisted. I must admit, they help with confidence, as so many accidents happen, it seems, due to poor handling.

Managed to go for an hours walk, half hour this morning, half hour this evening. Should get a discounted blood glucose monitor soon. Feet feeling a bit better, arthritis in big toes playing up, and lympodema kind of annoying in right foot, need to keep an eye on that but have podiatrist appointment on Thursday.

@DJC3 - I thought you needed the waffle maker for chaffles? I noticed on Diet Doctor there's more than a few chaffles. Back to swimming lessons today. It was a bit surreal. The boys were very compliant! Usually it's loads of moans first day back. Bed 4.8 FBG 5.4. I felt awful last night and it took ages to settle. No idea what caused it. My legs were pretty bad and got really tight. Got to sleep about 3am. I'm hoping getting back to Aqua tomorrow will loosen the muscles.
B. Usual TAG with ADOC.
L. Eventually had intended breakfast! 2 scrambled eggs with 2 rashers of back bacon.
D. Today's DD delight was a quite large pork loin chop with a cauliflower steak. It won't let me upload the photo but the link is below.
I changed it a bit as Gino D'Acampo was doing a veal chop milanese during the week. Veal chops are nigh on impossible to get so it became pork chop milanese. I made my LC crumb from a mix of Almond flour, flaxseed, sesame seed, parmesan and seasoning. Milled it through the Kenwood. Battered the chop down and dressed it. Cauliflower steak was covered in pecorino then finished in the oven. Had 4 HC 100% chocolate drops.
Fortunately, hubby likes cauliflower steak so I just had to add potatoes for him.

Oh, I lost 3 lbs too.

Haha I wondered how long it’d be before you were tweaking the recipes and adding a bit of Maglil Magic! Very Well done on the 3lb though.
Re waffle maker - yes I bought it for Chaffles but I’m very lazy and find washing the waffle plates a fag with all the little lumps ( no dishwasher) I find it easier, and just as nice to make them in a frying pan.
Hope you have a better night tonight.

Could i just ask..... what does the chaffle mix turn out like when done in a frying pan? Like an omelette? I agree that getting my chaffle maker clean is a PITA but they do turn out nice cooked in it - crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I should experiment really but I mostly eat them for breakfast and I'm not at my fully functioning best for experimenting before breakfast.

I looked for Khorasan bread in US , I could not find it .
But I get sprouted whole wheat bread from Whole Food Market . It’s very good. It cause a spike for me ( up to 140) but the spike drops very quickly ( as per my GCM). It’s also very tasty and prices are ok (5$ or so ) .

As for Khorasan bread , there was not any but Amazon has cereals made from them and they have flour too (if someone can bake )

I guess in Australia and UK , there is more chance of finding Khorasan bread.

Anyone with a GCM , has tested how much spike different types of bread cause (and how many slices ?) . Bread is very important to my happiness so I’m constantly looking for bread options that I can eat safely . I need two slice . With sprouted bread, I can have only one .
Hi thanks I found a bread sold in woolworth's today its called Bills organic bread one of the loafs he makes uses Khorasan flour but didn't buy it as my freezer is full at the moment the carb count is 18 but not sure if that was per slice or for two.

Hello everyone :)

Last night's home made broccoli and Stilton soup was gorgeous but wasn't great for my BG. Bedtime test last night was 8.3. I did manage to get down to a 5.3 before dinner yesterday but my BG really does seem to have a mind of its own. Any little bit of stress, potential illness or excitement sends it up.

13th January

FBG 8.6

B: 100% mozzarella chaffle with a heaped teaspoon of almond butter
L: 40g cheese (two little 20g individual portions)
D: Will be egg mayo, quorn smoked 'ham' and grated cheese salad (fingers crossed that the quorn smoked 'ham' is better than their really disgusting 'bacon' - some quorn products are nice and some are really awful, unfortunately the really nice ones tend to be a bit carby.

I've got a meat eating guest for an early dinner who is on a low cal / low fat diet.... its very hard to fit my low carb/ vegetarian / gluten free diet in with anyone but especially with someone who is low fat and counting calories. I decided to do a large mixed salad in various separate dishes that she can help herself from. :bigtears: Luckily she is doing Dry January as well.

The first time I used the chaffle recipe, I made it into small pancakes - a bit larger than a dropped scone. I used an old fashioned carbon steel pan with a heavy base and butter to fry the pancakes. Used 2 of them to make a bacon "roll". It worked very well.

I thought it’d be like an omelette too, but it’s not really - more like a pancake I’d say. I did like them in the waffle maker but the palaver involved puts me off ( esp at breakfast, as you say) if I had a big kitchen I wouldn’t begrudge the space so much.

ETA I hadn’t noticed @Annb ‘s post when I replied, glad we concur and the photo looks very tasty.

Bit of a post and run with apologies...

OMAD: Beef slices with broccoli in butter, spinach leaves
full fat greek yoghurt with some cream and roasted chopped hazelnuts

Too much protein really for keto, but I'm happy I'm headed in the right direction. Weekend was also out of ketosis but I measured 0.5 at 2pm today, so not too bad now.

Late breakfast, waited for BG to come down. CWC nut granola. Last portion so made more.

MrSlim has started on one of the bigger, more challenging jobs today. I am a bit concerned ( really worried) about it.

The house was built for shorter people and now most of us are too tall to get through the doorway without ducking. Forget and you crack your head on the granite lintel- which often leads to sharp intake of breath realeased in stream of profanities. In fact the very first thing bought specifically for this house was a MIND YOUR HEAD sign

You can all see the size of the problem in the pics.
After a day of chipping and drilling he has freed it. So it is now just perched there.

1sr day of the DD plan.
B: 2 fried eggs, cheese. No tomato as I didn’t have any. CWC
L: home late - too late for lunch really but was too hungry to wait til dinner 1/2 serving size chicken salad thing with cream cheese, avocado and spinach.
D: TexMex casserole with sour cream and avocado. Couldn’t finish it all.
@SlimLizzy that’s a big job, I sympathise as our house also has some very low ceilings. Kitchen and dining room are too low for SIL, he has to stoop when he visits but it gets him out of the washing up so he’s happy.

Evening all.

Lots of food today - one of those ‘so hungry I could empty the fridge’ days.

Early breakfast on train home. Small portion of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
Second breakfast around 9.30am eggs, bacon and grated cheese

Lunch was garlic and Parmesan chicken wings

Dinner was an air fried Barnsley lamb chop followed by some Halloumi fries

Also broke my January no chocolate rule - work colleagues gave me a 25g bar of Sainsbury’s 85% chocolate with my birthday card and decided to eat it.

Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.

Very weird day for bs.

Coffee with splash milk.

BS 8.4 hour later.

Then over the course of the morning variously 7.4, 6.6, 6.1. Nothing eaten.

Lunch same as last night, pork, mushrooms, cream sauce (homemade) with cabbage.

Finally 5.6 mid afternoon and starving. Aldi nut bar which normally is fine.

Just before dinner 8.0

Salad with a bit of veggie kebab stuff, soya based about 2g carbs per 100g.

Would be more than happy for comments on what's going on and whether I have eaten carbs I want expecting.

Hungry still but going to be drinking black tea and not eating this evening!
