It was actually really good, 1.5 slices was 91 grams. It's a very dense loaf I have to slice it myself. khorasan wheat has a GI of about 40, the sunflower seeds add some buffering fat, it's sprouted so that makes some of the anti-nutrients in the wheat go away mainly the phylates and the tannins. It's a sourdough so that would affect the GI even more and make it lower. I like dense bread, and it was really a very nice lunch especially with the lovely native pepper berry sauerkraut and hummus. Plus the 91g serving had 6.3g fiber and 10g protein just for the bread. Heck if $12 is the cost I have to pay to eat bread, have a nice lunch and enjoy life again then it's a price worth paying.
oh also could you tell me the brand of the bread thanks :)

I looked for Khorasan bread in US , I could not find it .
But I get sprouted whole wheat bread from Whole Food Market . It’s very good. It cause a spike for me ( up to 140) but the spike drops very quickly ( as per my GCM). It’s also very tasty and prices are ok (5$ or so ) .

As for Khorasan bread , there was not any but Amazon has cereals made from them and they have flour too (if someone can bake )

I guess in Australia and UK , there is more chance of finding Khorasan bread.

Anyone with a GCM , has tested how much spike different types of bread cause (and how many slices ?) . Bread is very important to my happiness so I’m constantly looking for bread options that I can eat safely . I need two slice . With sprouted bread, I can have only one .

I have a friend that was also diagnosed with type 2 and she has had success with home made buckwheat bread, that she makes in a bread maker from buckwheat flour. Buckwheat is actually a kind of seed, and may not cuase the problems regular wheat bread does.

Hi all, I'm fairly new to the low carb lark, so I am struggling to leave the dashed carbs alone but yesterday was this..

B: coffee with cream

L: greek yogurt with raspberries and seed topper- (this worked out at about 31g of carbs) then I had a boiled egg and a slice of cheese.

D: 2 pork steaks cooked in garlic butter, green beans, creamy spinach and I actually ate 200g of stuffed garlic mushrooms. So this worked out at 23g of carbs. Mainly thanks to the mushrooms which were dusted with breadcrumbs.

This did me zero favours, as my levels were about 15.9 before bed, and now 14.8 upon waking.

(I'm a type 2, was misdiagnosed with type 1 for 11 years- so now I'm on 2g metformin daily, and I've just come off Jardiance, as in three days ago! Praying lowering my carbs helps my levels as otherwise dr wants to put me on trulicity once weekly injection- I just want to avoid more meds if I can.)

Bed 5.8 FBG 5.7. @Chook - I found the thread. Can't believe it was 3 years ago. I had to laugh at your comment of joining "round the campfire" (in a reference to Blazing Saddles) due to all our fridges being Green & White! The eggs though! You and the thought of Mr C's face at 6 dozen eggs! I was had enough with 4 dozen. It really us quite a funny thread. @SlimLizzy - I'm enjoying your building stories. I was brought up on the concept with my family of buy in need of work, renovate, sell and move on. Once I was married I only did it 3 times then stayed put. Probably I was fed up with the upheaval. @DJC3 - Hope you had a good celebration today.
B. 2 fried eggs, 1/2 tomato and 2 rashers back bacon. TAG with ADOC.
L. Took the boys swimming so back in routine again.
D. Today's DD dinner oddly goes way back to the 2 week challenge and I'd forgotten how tasty is is. Baked cod loin with a red pepper butter and roasted sprouts/mushrooms. I also gave into a piece of DGF strawberries & cream blondie.

https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/butter-baked-fish-with-brussels-sprouts-and-mushrooms

Weather was better today but the wind is whipping up again. I need to settle down and see what I want to swap on the week 2 menu.
Edit: the DD thread
https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/115276/

Thanks for the link - seems i was having the same Jack giving me BG problems back then - nothing changes. Mr C has never let me forget my error in ordering double eggs and cabbage. Funny thread. :D

Today.... Saturday 11th January

B: DD Mexican scrambled eggs (I had 3 eggs, one spring onion, two cherry tomatoes, jalapeno and cheese cooked in a bit of butter) - quite nice, not too spicy - and will be having again this week
L: 20g cheese
D: Oumph, salad, mushrooms
Dessert: Mr Cs new concoction - a few raspberries with beaten Longley full fat cream cheese and a dusting of grated 85% Lindt choc - tastes a lot like raspberry cheesecake

Drinks: Usual black decaff coffee with breakfast then lots of water.

My Dry January partner had a mega fail last night - I'm still alcohol free :angelic::angelic::angelic:

Tea until 12.30 and then I had 2 sausages, 2 slices of black pudding (small - about 1 1/2 inch diameter, and 2 fried eggs. Quite full after that.

Then I had to go out but should have put the pork belly joint in the oven to slow cook, Didn't really want to leave the oven on though - didn't want another problem to arise. So I thought I would just put it in when I got back. Sadly, too late now, it took longer than I expected. I'll just have to do it tomorrow, although I do have to go out again tomorrow, but I will just put it on before I go.

I expect I'll just have some ham and cheese in a while. The ham we can get on this island is rubbish though. I have tried to make my own, without much success but all we can get here is bits of ham, compressed into a lump and then sliced very thin and packed into plastic. I'm sure you know the stuff. Don't expect to enjoy it, but I'll need to eat something - I'm too hungry not to.

Today's breakdown was the dishwasher - actually had to stand at the sink and wash dishes - including the ones halfway done in the machine - after I'd mopped up wall the water off the floor:bigtears::arghh:!!! Luckily, Neil dragged the machine out and fixed it for me.

@Annb sorry about the dishwasher, I find these things often go in succession. Re rhe ham could you squirrel away slices of bacon in the freezer to cookup when you feel like it?
Today as follows for me
Breakfast: usual slice LivLife toast, butter, tea x2.
Lunch: Small plate iceberg lettuce, shaved last of Stilton, cheesey coleslaw.
Supper: just ordered Tandoori King Prawns, cauli Bhajee.

Bed 5.2 FBG 5.6. I have to say that was a truly horrible night and day. Even when we got a break in the weather there were massive puddles everywhere. I did, however, work out Week 2 on DD Weight loss for Good and the shopping is done. They've introduced a bit of IF into Week 2 but I'm increasing it a bit as lunch is not a natural eating time for me. I've also discovered I've got a bit ahead of myself as it is due to start on Monday and I've completed Week 1 already (Good for you @DJC3 as you were planning to start this Week). I suspect I'll just add another week but they already have the first 3 weeks online.
B. TAG with ADOC. 2 rashers of crispy back bacon, 2 fried eggs and 1/2 a tomato.
L. Nothing. Out in the miserable weather shopping then went to sit with the boys for a hour as Mum had to work and Dad was at a Wedding Fair drumming up business for the band.
D. This I can recommend - a DD meat'zza. Mexican version. There's a fair bit heat in it. I did have a little bit lettuce and cucumber with it but otherwise I followed the recipe. Enough for 2 so the second base is flattened and in the freezer for another time as Hubby wanted stir fry. I can say for certain that DGF won't call me tonight - I am full!

@DCUKMod - son has finally succumbed to the IP. He bought the 8ltr yesterday. They had bought another brand a while ago but it is heading towards death. He got the IP for £79.99 which is OK for the 8ltr.

As you're in the US you could have a look at Bob's Red Mill Low Carb bread mix or New Hope low carb baking mixes. They cost a fortune here because of the import taxes but you'll get them at a reasonable price. I know iHerb stock Bob's red mill.
Again, as you are in the US you'll be able to access the THM baking mixes - they use the sprouted grains. It's not difficult to bake your own and it's a lot cheaper.

The ham is the Co-op's finest rubbish. It didn't taste bad, nor did it taste good. It just didn't taste of anything. And it was kind of wet. Even my own was not wet, if it was as lacking in taste. Just have to keep on working on it.

I feel for you @Annb - you know how many disasters I've had recently. Unfortunately, mine were beyond repair! I never realised food supplies were so poor on the islands. Obviously, I know you're depending on the ferries getting supplies in but I thought you would have more variety. Does that mean the only way to get variety is a trip to the mainland (or pay the exorbitant extras for delivery)?

Been a really picky day today. And not brilliant.

Breakfast
Coffee

Lunch
Not really anything ... which then explains the near car crash afternoon.

Had a handful of popcorn, a small bit of the daughter's jacket potato. Could have been worse but certainly wasn't on it today.

Dinner
Thai green chicken curry no rice... that bit I can manage!!

Just made almond butter and coconut flour 'biscuits' which are just about biscuity enough to fool my brain. And previous testing shows they don't make my bs go up at all... and i checked twice!!

Better tomorrow i hope...

Breakfast CWC x2. Nut Granola.
The building work has gone so well this week MrSlim had a day off and took me shopping. We looked at and bought: radiators, wiring, light fittings and fire accessories.
Lunch was a sort of ham and cheese sandwich, except that the bread part was some weird pastry. Didn't eat all of it and won't order that again. It's difficult to find low carb sometimes.
We also looked at, but didn't buy bathroom suites and showers. €€€€ Heated towel rails €€and a log splitter, €€€ apparently I am to purchase that later in the week.
Few groceries also purchased.
So a great day out for me :shy:
At home got on the internet Amazon here I come.
Dinner: stir fried cabbage, onion and carrots added spices and some diced pork, yoghurt and berries. larger portion of berries than usual. With cream to add calories. Glass of Sav blanc. Tea.
Have managed to gain .2 of a kilo last week.
Tomorrow we are moving the furniture in our living area about, because there will be major work happening at one end.
Watch this space...
