What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.30am FBG 6.1. Lemon tea.
8.00am FBG 5.2
8.30 am FBG 6.3
Had coffee with cream

How do I make sense of this?

DP gone, and now the Coffee/creams kicked in, the internal process of getting rid of it begins?

low as it is, the body still reacts to it...maybe it's too much cream..pretty sure i read on this thread that cream affected someone so they cut it back a bit.. @DJC3 comes to mind, but it may have been someone else.

have to say after just a lemon tea or coffee, i probably wouldn't test.

Not sure the rise is anything to worry about, just the normal balancing of a steam engine inside us, working within certain tolerances, creaking and moaning but no where close to dangerous temperatures.

But i realise it's an exercise in what effects you (we all do our own versions, i'm sure..)

I have just two questions. :)
When did you have the coffee with cream?
Why are you checking BG every half hour? I only ask because I've only heard of checking FBG before breakfast, then checking BG one hour and again two hours after eating.
I'm still learning. :)

Yes I did cut back on the cream in coffee and usually take it black now. I found I was just using too much cream so my between meal fasts, weren’t really fasts at all.
I’ve surprised myself by quite enjoying black coffee now - never thought I’d get used to it. It also makes things much easier when having a coffee out.

I’m no scientist but I am wondering if you could somehow power your kitchen! Amazing stuff. o_O Never heard of the watch wearing issue.
Well at least the toaster! Oh scrap that, no point as it would be redundant:-) so maybe the kettle would be a better idea.

Ah! 4/3 pie r raised to the power of 3 = the volume of a sphere so I guess that 8/3 pie r raised to the power of 3 can be summed up in a single word that can be shortened to balls - would these be the nice shiny jingle Chinese ones to celebrate the year of the rat. xīn nián kuài lè.

In mathematics, the Pythagorean theorem, also known as Pythagoras' theorem, is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. This theorem can be written as an equation relating the lengths of the sides a, b and c, often called the "Pythagorean equation":[1]

{\displaystyle a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2},}

Just saying....

Morning...anti-coagulant clinic this morning hoping for a longer break between visits so I need to get those numbers right...in bed before midnight last night so not a bad sleep although very tempted to turn over for another five minutes...woke to a 6.3

Morning all. Fbg of 4.8 which is ok I guess. Another 4.00 am wake up but I can't use all this time in winter. Kilo heavier today from last Wednesday's 74 kgs (on bulletproof tea and largely 1 "meal" a day) - I just prefer 73 kgs or slightly under. Whisky and Stilton on Sat?. Lower bg readings at a price I don't want. Naproxen and weird sleep pattern messing with exercise don't help. @jjraak at @Krystyna23040 linked her cream intake with bg rises. @DJC3 the bulletproof tea may be like your CWC and stopping the fast @trick60 against cheese on toast a 6.1 pales into insignificance. Have a great day chums and chumettes.

Up Early, taking son to airport.
6.40am FBG 6.4. Had lemon tea.
Not eating as this is high for me.
Can't understand what is going on as some days FBG goes down if I continue fast after getting up. Other days dawn phenomenon kicks in and it rises and rises.
Yesterday tried more frequent tests to see what happened.
So it started at 6.1. And I had lemon tea. Tested again 5.2. Thought I would wait and see if it went lower, but 30 mins later, one hour after waking, it was on the way up again @ 6.3. At this point I had CWC. And made breakfast.
Like you @SaskiaKC I am still learning.

@ianpspurs yes I do have to watch that higher cream intake (over 150ml a day) does hike up the blood sugars.

Did an interesting experiment yesterday. Was having one of those days where blood sugars were in the low 4s all day. So before bed was 4.3 and feeling that they were still dropping lower.

Decided to see what my pancreas and liver would do overnight to resolve this issue. What it did was to correct it - but actually over correct it a little to 5.7 this morning - which is interesting.

I had a wonderful night's sleep so liver and pancreas worked well to correct falling BS. Of course this would have been a dangerous experiment if still on insulin or any other meds.

edited to add: I would normally correct this myself before bed by eating something but obviously I don't have to.

Good Morning and 5.5 today, a bit of a relief as I hit 7.4 Sunday evening after surcoming to 1 small piece of Cider Cake left over from Saturdays Jam Night..

I think the majority of us on this thread are still learning or have not managed to reach any conclusions. On the positive side we are all striving to improve our future and like @jjraak mentioned in earlier posts, imagine what our BG readings would probably be without all this effort.

Meeting a younger friend for a 4 hour Muddy Cycle ride today, sunshine promised, route prepared, coffee stop planned, just wish my arthritis wasn't playing up so much, still I have to trust my Docs take on this, "use it or loose it, you can't do any harm" and I know from 18 years of doing this he is right, just makes it harder to get motivated.

Press on one and all time is precious.

Edit maths all wrong 20 years :)

Thank you, this thread is full of inspirational top dudes and lasses including yourself, certainly helps keep me motivated when dealing with T2D. It would be so very easy to just cave in to meds and acceptance of my lot, likewise with my arthritis and Mountain Biking I am fortunate to have younger friends who push me, not literally you understand. :joyful:

Tragedy for Kobe Bryant's wife and family losing him and 13 yo daughter in crash. I had never heard this poem before and never attained his level as an athlete but boy does it resonate with me. Payers for that family, those of the murdered English footballer and all athletes who struggle after retirement. A few posts - mine included - are often tinged with feelings of loss of pleasures from food no longer on the menu. He seems to have handled a greater loss far better. Huge respect for him having heard that poem https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/basketball/51256110

Morning All. 5.8 and defo still learning. Yesterday was a strange one insofar as I had fbg 6.5 ate brunch of bacon & eggs and then nothing for 8 hours but at 6pm I tested 5.8 which surprised me. I am doing my best most of the time but I dont control this, I try to, it controls me. Profound but I guess many of you feel the same. But on I go.
Monday already and last week of January. Lots of very satisfactory cupboard clearing out yesterday with Mr PM as usual found surprising items. Hoping to go on the market next month but we need new facias and soffits after a battering by the weather in the last 6 months.
Have a great Monday if you can. Stay well, stay safe.
