And for you, HarryBeau --
t1980.gif
Just about to make myself one Saskia to perk me up...not much done so far today I had a quick scurry round then switched the heating on...it was freezing here sat down for a moment & promptly nodded off on the sofa...Lola & Charlie were both out for some time alas no twigs for her so she'll be glad of the peachy one... so coffee then have to get a move on.

So today I think I played a blinder by restricting Julie to just the 2 of these Springador puppies. May not feel so pleased with myself when they chew all and sundry - collect them next weekend. Just in time for builder to start on the kitchen. Julie says it will be fine. I've been watching Hyacinth Bucket lately and empathise with Richard and Mr K of Norfolk.

OMG they are just beautiful so glad you got two! It is so exciting and you are experienced dog owners. Just imagine how the grandchildren will love them. Your life is going to get a whole lot busier...congrats.

Pity you didn't live nearer I would have sent the hubsta around. He would be in his element painting walls and fixing windows. Mind you his expertise is sealant, lethal with a sealant gun.

Seriously, you guys have had a lot to cope with lately, sending best wishes that everything progresses well.
That's such a kind thought @Ryhia. Would be happy to have any help.

I could go on and on and on about the different coffees as they really do taste different from each other and I do definitely find that without cream you can really taste the differences between the coffees much more intensely.

I can well believe that. Like different chocolates, or different tobaccos. I am not a smoker, but back when there were tobacconists' shops in the malls I liked to go in occasionally and take a whiff from a couple of different humidors. I imagine that, unlike vanilla extract, tobaccos taste as good as they smell -- I just used to enjoy smelling them but never did more than 2-3 on one visit.

Some time ago I read something online about the effects of various coffees on blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol numbers. I can't remember it all now, but I do remember the article mentioned arabica in contrast to some other coffee. It sent me out shopping for arabica coffee -- and I couldn't find any at my store! :( ???

About 15-20 years ago I worked in an office and part of my morning duties was to make the coffee in one of the kitchen. Decaf, "regular," and something wonderful called Cafe Sumatra. Wow! It was so strong, and so bitter ... I loved it.
Problem was, I could only drink about 1/4 - 1/3 cup, and then it would have me literally climbing the walls -- way too much caffeine and who knows what else? But goodness, it was good. :)

Awww ... how sweet! :)

Now, if I could just get my computer/this site to stop skipping people's posts ... I seem to be missing so many that I would not have seen at all if someone else had not quoted them. ...

Sorry to hear about missing posts. Yes they are cute/sweet now. Not sure they'll be so sweet when they chew things I like or need walking/cleaning up after when I'm ill and Julie has to do it. I tend to get up 2-3 hrs before her so when we had the last 2 dogs she only ever saw them all settled and any mess cleaned. I need dogs to motivate me to walk though and I miss the lab we had. We also had a red setter but not from a puppy so miss her less.

Good move you will be fine. Will be interesting to see how they turn out but looking like Labrador at the moment. It took my Labrador Moet 8 years before he thought he wasn't a puppy :joyful: mind you my other labs were much more sensible as they were first crosses with Retrievers.
Some great days ahead for your family.

Thanks. They look remarkably like our last Lab and so did the mother. She was nice and lean. moved well and had the same temperament as our Lab. Important the breed are good with children. These aren't KC registered or from prize winners like he was but this is a smaller property as a base and not sure pure breed always works. However, Thetford forest should give them all the room and interest they could ever want. Could be fun watching them chase deer.

I’ve just popped in briefly and seen your puppy post! That’s so exciting, I’m really looking forward to more photos.

They are absolutely lovely. You did well to restrict Julie to only two.

They look so angelic - I am sure that they wouldn't dream of chewing anything.

I agree that having a dog does motivate you to walk. There is no way we would walk as much as we do if we didn't have. I must admit though that the last thing I want to do on a cold wet winter's morning is to go out for a walk - although I always feel much better for doing it.

It is sad when we lose a dog that we have a strong connection with. Labs are our favourite dogs. We have had four. Archie is 14 this year so every day we have with him now is a bonus.

Apparently it has been discovered that if you have a certain gene you can drink loads of coffee and the caffeine doesn't affect you. I think I must have that gene and so must my sister. I would have loved your Cafe Sumatra.

I worked with someone who would be climbing the walls after only one cup of coffee. He had to avoid coffee completely because even one cup caused palpitations.
