The trees outside my window are in leaf again, and I love the way the sunlight picked out the trunks of these two trees this morning.

It reminds me of Thomas Merton's words: "A tree gives glory to God by being a tree."

I hadn’t heard this quote before but it’s lovely, it made me stop and just appreciate the natural world still going about it’s business, and how insignificant we are really.

Welcome to this corner of the forum. I go with @trick60 take the lower number.

I noticed on another thread you mentioned 40 mins on the treadmill and asked about doing anything different regarding your higher BG reading before sleep and should you do anything different.

We all react differently to what we eat and our exercise there is no rule book. It's good you are testing it will start to show what works for you. I Mountain Bike for up to 3 hours and although a lot older than yourself push my old creeping limbs to their limits. I notice it always puts my BG up, I wondered how close to your sleep and testing was your exercise on the treadmill and if that was the cause.

Those readings posted today were great.

I am really happy to see your comments. You are one who notice, No-One notice.
Actually till now I don't know what type of diabetes of mine. Earlier last year I met doc about something wrong were happening on left side head. The neurologist did many test and did not come up any decision. Within month I met couple of docs but they were failed to find out the real reason. Later go back again the neurologist, this time he found BG 11 & 18 of mine at the age 30. After seeing the report he commented i may only alive 10 years maximum. This is first time I scared really scared, fear, worried all come through in one row. On the same day I met diabetic specialist he gave me 2 to 3 medicine and advised go back to him. I was worried and never back to him. But I started taking medicine. But it was out of control. I think one year gone i did not meet with any doc. I checked sometimes. Some day it was controlled some days not. I do very busy job. It took my day.

Later I appointment with another doc. This guy just threat me. Advised take insulin, i really fell into depression. Days was passing but I think I was not ok.
Finally I start following life style change doc advise through youtube. I bought a treadmill. Now using treadmill and following diet. No medicine.

Before breakfast it's about 5 to 6.2, after lunch it's is 8, sometimes it's 9, after dinner 6 to 8.
Based on measurements trying to adjust diet.

Sorry long story shared with you. Still i don't know what type of diabetes of mine! Really am I going to after 10 years if Corona don't affect me

Hi,
I hope you weren't in the UK when you were treated like that by the medics, I would find that frightening too.

This forum, and even this thread, is full of people who are living a long life despite diabetes. Managing your condition by understanding what is good or bad for you is the key, that is your commitment to yourself, your health.

Read through the many posts on dietary restrictions and feel free to ask members here, who, I can guarantee, have a vast pool of experience.

Stay safe

I agree with @OldButBold you were Appallingly treated. You obviously have the desire to try and sort this out which is the start of a long road ahead, persevere, ask questions, read all you can on this forum, keep doing what you are already doing, make adjustments when necessary, be brave, it's not going to be easy but worth all the effort for better health.

I don't know how, but please try and find out which diabetes you have.

I truly wish you well.

Sorry to hear about Popeye, such a strain on you and him. Could you order a supersoaker on Amazon and blast water at them maybe, or hook up a hose if you have an outside tap. Cats do not like water unless in their bowl lol.
Mr Fuzz has changed the times of his visits and giving me the run around. He turns up for breakfast late, came back lunchtime but I only give him seed twice morning and evening and not much, he must gave a small tum. But its now 6pm and no sign of him. He does his unique run down the garden and goes through the tunnel in the bank that the foxes used to use at night. I think his wife might be in the adjoining garden where there is ground cover so we now call his route “the tunnel of love”. Its really strange that he arrived just before lockdown and he has added another dimension to our days and he is very funny. Long live Mr Fuzz!

The ‘tunnel of love’ lol. His arrival really does seem to be perfectly timed.

I have done the same, I put a babygem base, a broccoli base and a savoy cabbage base. So far I can just see the baby gem sprouting but they are very tiny at present, I've also some tiny purple cabbage sprouts on the cabbage core - why purple I haven't a clue. Waiting patiently to see what happens, maybe I will try some carrot tops next. Used to grow them as a child didn't realise you could eat them. Same with swede tops we always just throw them away but might give these a try too. I've had had them grow inadvertently before when they were left in a cupboard and forgotten about.
Purple cabbage and swede tops - I’ll be really interested to see how these turn out, and I didn’t realise you could treat broccoli the same way either. I’m running out of window sill space.

Oh what do you do with brocolli, do tell. I can get through a barrow load!
Re Mr Fuzz long after dark last night we heard a terrible commotion where he was loud and crying out. No sign of him so far today so I am very afraid the foxes came. I know its nature and it can be cruel but he was such a jaunty fella who gave me so much pleasure. Apparently they seldom live longer than 2 years.

good morning all :)

4.2 today

finally got the oil delivery for the central heating this morning, a relief to mr gee who has been dipping the tank every couple of days. It took three and a half weeks, usually it's only 1 week after ordering. We're just grateful it has arrived, we know how busy and short of staff they are :)

Over to mum's today and will pick up eggs from the 'egg box' automated shed on the way if they are available. We'll take soup over and pick up her shopping list ready for our expected shopping trip tomorrow.

Lovely sunny looking day here but the breeze is brisk.

Hope your day treats you kindly :)

@Ryhia I'm amazed you could tell which lighthouse that is :joyful:

@Muddy Cyclist - I did order some better paper at around that time, it's cold pressed :angelic: and a 50% mix of cotton and non lignin cellulose, it took at least 10 days to arrive so there are still some art bits on odd paper/card/stuff :hilarious: in the catch up postings before I get to it. I have noticed that scanning these is making them slighlty more saturated.

no 1 is done with the Daler Rowney paints on a piece of mounting board offcut about 9 x 4.5 inches, it's from a photo of a historic lighthouse I saw online,

upload_2020-4-7_11-24-2.jpeg

no 2 is my attempt to depict an area nearby looking from a raised level above the sea, it's almost all scrubby bushes and brambles, end result is not quite what I had in mind but I quite like it as an abstractish landscape :hilarious: painted on the craft card with the Daler Rowney. This is me trying to learn to give things a sense of scale.

Oh no! That’s so sad. Like you say it is just nature but he seemed to appear at just the right time and give a real lift to the day.
I’m watching @Ryhia ’s posts to see how the broccoli sprouting progresses - I’ve only got a couple of little baby gem lettuce on the go. It seems that a lot of veg can be just popped in a saucer of water to start sprouting again, quite amazing.

Fbg and art quite amazing - or rather not since both come from the same place. Careful thought, attention to detail, persistence and a love of life and the natural world. Have a great day and many, many more.

football, both the game and the culture.
Woke very early 4 Am hot and bothered. Checked BG 5.6 not massive.
However unable to sleep again.
Checked again at 7am FBG 5.4
Today planned instruction in mower refuelling and log splitter operation. Got out the windows. Considering how to utilise them. Ofc they are all different sizes. The plants will soon outgrow their current overnight accommodation though, so something has to be done for them.
@OldButBold pleased to read you are recovering.
@Debandez have you tried different brands of Greek yoghurt? My favourite thick, rich and creamy is produced by Lynos and is actually made in Greece.
Keep well and get well.

You can grow Broccoli but I think the stump I have isn't really a good example not many side shoots, can't see anything happening with it as the moment so I an trying a different one. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this one. Got some space on the windowsill but did wonder if my sun room is going to have the pervasive smell of cabbage in a couple of weeks. No response to my tomato seeds yet, but it is still very early days.

@Ryhia I'm amazed you could tell which lighthouse that is :joyful:

It was easy peasy recognizing it, lovely painting. Its also quite a land mark in my neck of the woods, its a 1000ft long and can be a bit of a walk on the wild side to get to the lighthouse.
Loving your artwork, you have a really delicate touch.

Lol just reread and I dont think even I could get through 10 dozen at a time. Hope my farm shop keeps going.
Yes, thinking about it don't know why I bothered posting that one, could probably feed the whole of our cul de sac or would have an awful lot of freezing to do. My apologies for raising expectations, just didn't think.

7.5 and Tchaikovsky this morning. I picked his Piano Concerto #1 from the list of TV freebies this morning, and only saw the pianist's name after I clicked Play. So this morning I am listening to, and still praying for, Boris.
