What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Feeling really lethargic today not had lunch but tested my BGS as i feel so lousy and they are 9.3 dont want to eat as it will make them go even higher, advice please xx

Good morning all. Many thanks for your responses yesterday. They were much appreciated. Feeling better today after a long rest. Fbs down to 9.0, still scary but better than 12.3. Lots of jobs "to do" indoors now the sun has disappeared but 'not rushing to do them. I always find any task is done more effectively when you are in the right mood to do it rather than when it feels like a chore. :D:angelic: After years of work meeting deadlines and the stresses of the last few years, it's a luxury that only comes with retirement and/or lock down. Meanwhile I have reading and knitting to keep me occupied. I wish you all well whatever you choose to fill your time. Stay safe and well.:)

ah, good to hear., at least trending in the right direction

and deffo on the to do list

* time for ME.
* quiet contemplation
* things i enjoy.

good for the mental health if not for the to do list of MUST DO'S....;)

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

A manageable 6.7 this morning.

All this talk of to do lists, unfortunately I have been doing rather than talking, just wish I had time to talk, must get going Mrs J is watching.

good to hear you're at a more reasonable level today.
good luck with the afternoon.

hi @ShelleyMcD

well on the consideration it's not a cold flu etc

when i feel like that i usually force myself to eat something..cheese maybe.?

i've been quite lucky i rarely get those low moments now, while i just feel ****
do hear and i believe that the numbers can mount IF you DON'T eat..particularly the morning ones.

a bit of a trade off,
if you don't eat you'll feel rough maybe,
if you do your numbers might go up.

for me, that would be eat and see how it goes.

while higher numbers aren't the goal
sometime getting our bodies back in balance, if a little higher
then helps sets us up for the recovery.

so maybe short term pain for longer term gain ?

welcome to the thread if i never said before :)

and on that note.
FBG 6.0..still a high plains drifter.
moseying around Six rivers falls

but on the temp..36.1, still a cool little fonzie..:D..:hilarious:
even if i haven't put the leathers on for a while..:arghh:

Both of us all good, here in the Capital

Numbers in London looking much better, if still absolutely horrendous overall.

hope whatever neck of the woods people are in the news is more positive then of late.

not over by any means..
but when you were at the top of a towering inferno and watching the wildfires
breaking out and burning all across your cities skyline..

and you are now heading down the stairs,
the least bit of hope shines bright.

#hope

Shelley I'd have a little something to eat just some low carb not eating enough can exacerbate the problem...maybe some cheese or eggs.

Hi Shelley

Welcome to this thread :)

It is hard to advise because we are all so different.

For me I took the journey of Low Carb High/Healthy Fat

I also combined it with intermittent fasting, but by that I mean eating all my food in say a 6 hour window and not eating for the rest of the 18 hours left in the day. Google ‘intermittent fasting’ to see the different ratios suggested, and the times of day suggested to eat. Or, look elsewhere on this site for suggestions. For me personally, I am better eating my food earlier in the day and stopping eating around 2pm. Then obviously I drink fluids until the next day when I start eating again.

But I believe you must eat. Or else your blood sugar readings will go higher. It can be your choice of food that helps lower your readings. For me, if I had the reading you have just taken, then I would have a handful of nuts or protein like cheese or fish or eggs or meat and that would lower that blood sugar reading for me. If I have vegetables with it, then I am better with vegetables that grow above the ground, because vegetables that grow below the ground have too many carbs in them and they raise my blood sugars.

The problem is that we are all different, and the type of food we eat affects each one of us differently.

But you say you have tested your blood sugars, so I am assuming that means you have testing equipment and strips. What I did was check how each food affected me by testing. You will have to google how to do that, or look elsewhere on this site. In this way I got my blood sugars better under control.

Good luck @ShelleyMcD

Take care

Thank you @jjraak. At the moment, especially as it looks like this situation could go on for some time, I think it is important to do what is best for our well being and the safety of ourselves and others. Best wishes.:)

I notice you also have fibromyalgia which is known to potentially raise blood sugar counts. Is the 9.3 above your usual testing baseline? It would be interesting to know your averages and whether the fibro' is causing your imbalance at the moment. Might be worth mentioning it to your GP/medic if it is outside your normal expectations.

All the best

Sympathy and empathy@ShelleyMcD. Similar fbs as me today. Yesterday I was in a lot of pain, my fbs was 12.3 and I felt awful. I just ate a small, light, cheese/ ham carb-free salad and drank lots of water & my sugars lowered to 11 within a short time and after a good rest I began to feel better. Hope this helps and that you feel better soon.

A really good day's work. Was really motivated now I have a weekly to do list deadline.
As I mentioned earlier I work really well with a deadline. Whenever I do a course with an exam or coursework there is always been a deadline set by my professional body. It has worked really well for me for the last 20 years until a qualification I wanted to gain last year - a qualification teaching clients with Osteoporosis.

All was going well until they said that there was no longer a deadline in handing in the work and getting it assessed. My reaction was upload_2020-4-27_18-35-17.png how could they do that.

Weeks turned into months and I couldn't complete the work - I was really struggling it was so hard. Just before the August vacation I told one of my classes. They immediately sprung into action and issued me with a Deadline. The work was to be handed in by their first class in September and they were going to check up that I had done it. I finished the coursework over August, submitted it and achieved 100% marks.

They did apologise for being so assertive, but I was so grateful to them because for me - a deadline is essential.

Just popping in before I start cooking dinner to post mopey faily painting, will catch up on posts later.

So after yesterday's sketch here is the Watercolour A4 size 90 minutes to paint. The Roaches in Staffordshire Moorland Country. Taken from photo, sketch book and yesterday's quick watercolour sketch. Second in English Vista series.

good evening all :)

was 4.3 this morning

rain here this morning but it became a fine afternoon so we went out for a walk and then went out into the garden and transplanted a few things :)
It's still odd to me the way the days merge together without the usual shapes to the weeks :sorry:
I'm very grateful that we can get a bit of time outside, that I have my knitting and that this thread inspired me to go back to painting :joyful:

Lots of people walking dogs after the showers today ;)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@gennepher nice sense of scale in today's work :)
@Muddy Cyclist I like the clouds rolling in and contrasting with the light falling on the distant landscape in this one :)

Art catch up - trying out the new paints, some new colours to try mixing ;)
no 1 - sunny seascape

no 2 - the sky ...not my best :sorry: ( it was supposed to be the milky way but it came out rather apocalyptic :hilarious: ), an interesting experiment non the less.
I quite like the foreground colours though :)

A lovely painting. I could almost imagine I was standing there admiring the view - exhausted by the steep climb to the summit.

I really liked both paintings. Very different - but both very good.
Just completed my daily painting challenge
A pastel.
Took an hour...
